This is one of my flower shops in all of Vancouver. Everything is always so fresh, beautiful and thoughtfully put together. Their flowers really last too! I've gotten the most unique and beautiful bouquets here, if the location was more convenient to me I'd get my flowers here weekly. Their prices are more than fair and they are always so friendly and helpful if you aren't sure what you need! My favourite place to visit after a delicious breakfast or brunch steps away at Dope Bakehouse in the Polygon Gallery is Margitta's flowers. Passing through Lonsdale Quay or on your way back to the seabus terminal, the no doors format of Margitta's flowers puts on full display the fresh and vividly colorful flowers and bouquet arrangements that this shop has to offer. I particularly love this store as they carry the stunning Bird of Paradise stems and a rotating selection of Orchid stems depending on what they receive at the warehouse auction, among other more generally seen flowers. You'll also see Heliconia, Rose, Lily, Sunflowers and Freesias to name a few, all displayed in a beautiful floor to ceiling arrangement making it seem like a walk through a jungle. Throughout the year Margitta's will stock cymbidiums in small ($10-11 per stem) and large format ($1.50 per bud), mokara, oncidium, phalenopsis, paphiopedilum and dendrobium orchids if you're an orchid fanatic like myself. The dendrobium stem ($4) I got lasted me from January to April, so it was quite the surprise for me and gave me months of blooms. Whether you're here to purchase a single stem to liven up a living space, or assembling a bouquet for a special event, Margitta and her staff always positively greet their customers and offer knowledgeable advice on the different blooms and their availability. We were were searching for some additional flowers for a wedding celebration, at the last moment (the day before!) and these folks down at the waterfront had a selection from which (with the staff's help) we were able to put together some small, rustic looking decorative arrangements, exactly the sort of look we were aiming for. I'm not much of a connoisseur of cut flowers so I haven't much familiarity for comparison, but we sure appreciate that we were able to obtain just what we wanted, on terribly short notice! read more

It's good to know some things never change. I had used Margitta's for years due to their quality but moved off the North Shore some years ago, so I haven't ordered from them since. Yesterday I needed to order a bouquet for my daughter and Margitta did not disappoint. I asked for a simple bright and cheerful bouquet and I am so happy with what she created. My daughter is elated. Three stars for the flowers. A regular has told us to ALWAYS order ahead. It would make sense from how judgmental and not helpful the staff was this morning (Easter bunny skipped their houses?). A man with his son asked advice and was just told is he wanted it, they would add it. Not answering his question if if it would look good. Had a terrible experience here. Ordered a special bouquet for pick up, when I arrived to pick up at the specified time, the employee had not even begun to put it together. Sometimes a stranger just knows what you need to make you smile! I had a tough day today, riding the waves of grief. Then on my way to my appointment after work, walking through the quay were I love to buy roses I see this amazing utterly stunning rose! I just have to go in to buy it! Haven't bought anything yet but I like what I saw. Browsing and saw they had air plants beautifully arranged in the glass containers ranging from $15-35. Great price as usually I see them sold for a lot more! Second item in the shop that caught my eye was a simple yet cute orchid in a vase arrangement for $10. Definitely a steal since most places would probably sell you the vase on it's own for $10! Will def be back to get some christmas presents for my kids teachers. Posted pics of both items. read more

Great selection of flowers and the owner is pleasant. I ordered bouquet of flowers here 1.5 weeks prior pick up. On the day before I pick up my bouquet, I came by and reminded the owner that I'll be picking up my bouquet of flowers at noon the following day. I came by at noon, my bouquet wasn't ready and the grouchy lady (worker) was surprised that I was picking up my order. She stated "I don't know about this and I have been working non stop like a dog since morning". She then told me, come back in 30 mins. I left very disappointed. When I came back 45 mins later, my flowers were not ready! I waited and waited while I listened to the lady's bitching how hard she works and never appreciated. It might be nice to get flowers here on the spot but not to order. Looks like pre ordered flowers are overlooked. I read positive reviews about the flower shop. Maybe, it was just my bad luck. I gave gratuity when I ordered the flowers, I shouldn't have paid prior pick up. If I get a service like this, I wouldn't bother giving extra- what a waste! read more

Extremely rude and unprofessional!!! Didn't want to sell the flowers I had picked, kept indicating that she had just gotten them, and wanted to keep them. When I said I wanted the flowers, the dozen roses, she gasped, and said "what? You want all of them?", Like it was a crime to get the roses she was selling. I buy Markita's flowers because of the quality. It's simply superior. I received a bouquet from a dear friend visiting from California 4 days ago. A purple hyacinth, a stem of three giant dark pink lilies, one of which was open, an exquisite orange rose with dark orange tips almost in full bloom and perky is can be, some yellow baby chrysanthemums and one tall little red gerbera with some greens. such a beautiful and thoughtful arrangement. So fragrant and vibrant with color to enjoy on these great Vancouver days. They look as fresh as the day I got them only better because a newly opened today! read more

I was most heartened to be called this afternoon by my friend who sent me a photo of a second flower arrangement from Margitta's that just arrived. The driver explained that he has seen movement in the home the first time, and assumed the flowers would be brought inside. My friend explained that neither of them had heard a knock the first delivery time, and her husband just home from hospital is unable to walk. The driver expressed his apologies and in a lovely gesture, left a wonderful display of flowers from Hawaii. The first bouquet continues to bloom happily. Thank you, Margitta's - apology happily accepted. You have handled this situation with style and grace. My friends and I will continue to purchase your very special flowers. I love flowers in general and this place has rainbow flowers. I love rainbow flowers and they're very hard to find in the city, however, they had them for $5 each which is reasonable for what they are. The prices are decent and the customer service was warm and awesome. read more

Years ago my daughters bought a bouquet from Margitta's for my wife for her Birthday. Ever since I have been a regular customer, at least 4 times a year I visit her store. Margitta's flowers are always fresh with vibrant colours and the overall bouquet never disappoints. All I do is call, give a price and pick up the flowers. I seriously doubt that there is a better florist in North Vancouver or elsewhere in the Lower Mainland. read more

I'm surprised it's not a 5-star rating all around for this cute, little shop. Margitta, the German lady who owns the shop, is a laugh and a half! I was there to pick up an orchid for a friend's house-warming party. Every flower and plant in her shop looked really fresh and pretty. As I do not have a garden, nor an interest in flowers generally, I had little idea as to what I really wanted to pick up. I told Margitta the truth so she showed me the few kinds of orchids available. They were all wrapped in very pretty pink and purple paper with little hearts. Nice touch! It was ready to be gifted! I asked about the different kinds of orchids. I noticed a more slender version and more flowery version, so I asked for Margitta's opinion. Without hesitation, she says to me "How much do you want to show off?", to which I replied "Oh, A LOT..." and we chuckled. I was quite fickle but in the end, I picked a really pretty orchid plant with Margitta's patience and assistance. She was also very thorough on the care instructions. You know she knows what she's talking about! If I had plants, I'd trust her with them. She even included her own set of instructions with the orchid! From now on, whenever I'm at Lonsdale Quay Market, I'm going to pick up flowers from here just so I can talk to Margitta! read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. I wanted to buy the flowers for my wedding here because the location was convenient for the rest of the plans for that day, but the woman working there did just about everything to convince me not to! She was very negative and complained bitterly about various things - most of the other vendors I dealt with were excited and grateful to be a part of my wedding plans. For example, when I told her the kind of flowers I liked, she said, "Oh, those aren't in season. You know, some brides are so organized that they plan their wedding date around when their flowers are in season." Well good for some brides! Then she said I had better try another florist if I wanted that particular flower. I said I was sure I could find something that would look nice there. The shop attendant was eventually helpful when it became apparent that I was determined to buy the flowers there, but I came up with most of the ideas and I would not describe her as friendly. If you are uncertain of what you want and are looking for advice and direction, I would not recommend this shop. However, if you are just picking up something pretty, I'm sure you'll find something suitable there. read more

My friend had ordered a flower arrangement from this place and had it was delivered to my work place. When I received the delivery, my name was spelled wrong and my friend's name was spelled wrong. My friend found out and talked to the manager and they insisted it was the driver's fault. The manager also said the flower arrangement was done up nicely with a ribbon. I didn't realize it was the driver's job to write out cards. My friend spelled both our names on the phone to the person receiving the order and it's just a bit sloppy to mess up a message. Our names are common names nor should they make that type of mistake on any messages taken over the phone. The flower arrangement was tied up with green wire at the stems and then clear plastic wrapped around the flowers and put together with tape. There was no ribbon when I received it. It looks like it was hastily wrapped. Don't recommend this place for custom orders and delivery. I do appreciate my friend's gift and her thoughtfulness but wanted to write about our experience to warn others. Did not get plant food for my flowers either. read more

Never fails. Anytime I've bought flowers from Margitta I've been happy. I just have to describe what I want over the phone and give my budget. They just get it. They know. I don't even have to see the arrangement if I'm having it delivered. I can trust that it will be delivered and the recipient will be happy. (I always get that excited and full of appreciation phone call when the flowers arrive at the destination!) it's no coincidence that Margitta was one of the florists to get a contract for the Olympics ;) well deserved! read more

Very disappointed!!!! I have been a customer of Margitta's since the 90s. I recently ordered a bouquet for a friend's birthday. A bright spring bouquet was what I ordered. The bouquet that was delivered was sub par to say the least. When I called to relay my disappointment I was told Margitta would have been the one who made up the bouquet and would be in later that day and would call. Not only did she get an employee to call me back, I was told that Margitta thought there was nothing wrong with the bouquet. What happened to the customer is always right? She totally dismissed my complaint adding insult to injury. I will NEVER order anything from this store again. Clearly Margitta is out of touch with her customers. read more

I remember being a little girl and my mother shopping at Margitta's, and Margitta's only. There was not a time that I was in there under the age of 15 and didnt get a flower from Margitta, with a side of her German "Oma" sass. I chose Margitta to do my wedding flowers and was absolutely BLOWN away. Some don't know but Margitta did the 2015 Olympics, I'm sure competing against many other florists on the lower mainland, Margitta's little North Van gem won the contract. If she can do that, she can do anything. From the moment I walked into my consultation I was greeted with interest and care. I was asking for something a little bit different and not Margitta's usual style but a woman named Sandy (maybe Sandra) was more then attentive to the detail I was giving as Margitta whiped off flower names and her lovely Granddaughter (I think) pulled up ideas from pinterest while asking all the right questions from dress style to venue and food choices. Of course I was nervous that they would be everything I wanted but as would every bride be... When I came back in to chat a week before my wedding she quickly put together a little demo of the planned arrangements and colours and my nerves faded. On the day of my wedding, my flowers were ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. The boutineers were classic, simple and tasteful but incorporated a tiny bit of my bouquet in it. The mothers corsages were just big enough and classy. Both my bridal bouquet and my bridesmaids were above and beyond with the greens I wanted all wrapped with (much to Margitta's disinterest ahah) burlap! and they were amazing. The venue also looked lovely with the table arrangements. Her prices were absolutely more then fair and worth every penny.
