This was a stop at a holiday trolley fest I went on, and I'm so glad it allowed me to discover this location! About 35 of us descended upon this store, and the employees were probably a bit bombarded, but helped us all as quick as they could. Lots of cute decor and Voluspa candles on the second level. Looks like they have space to do classes there as well. Individual blooms seemed to be a bit pricey, but gorgeous nonetheless. We discovered their small jewelry case, and my friend and I each got the most gorgeous little delicate bracelets with tiny beads and circle charms. Would love to find out which designer made them so I could buy more pieces, but since we were short on time and they were busy, I didn't have a chance to ask. I wanted to get a lovely friend of mine a bouquet, but I didn't want to get flowers from the grocery store. I checked online to see if there were any flower shops near me. And to my surprise, I came across Marguerite Gardens! This beautiful flower shop is just right down the street from me! As soon as I walked in, I knew I was going to leave with a gorgeous bouquet. I've never shopped for flowers before, so this experience was new to me. The girl at the counter (sorry I forgot your name, but we talked about tattoos) was so helpful and told me I could either pick the flowers myself or she can help. I picked out several dark and lovely flowers and she arranged them beautifully. I could not be happier with this shop and my friend adored the flowers. She remarked on how she was trying to get a specific flower at whole foods but it cost too much and wasn't very fresh (in the photo I've included, it's the one with lots of condensed petals) I will be back soon! They also have such great modern industrial pieces that are eye catching. I love walking by here and seeing what window display they have going on. I picked up some random pieces here last week from their sale cart. They were unique finds! In addition to flowers, they also have home goods and decorative items here. I called to order flowers for my mother for mothers day. I live in LA so I yelped florists near Ravenswood and Marguerite Gardens came up with good reviews. I checked their website and liked their aesthetic, so I gave them a call. They were very friendly on the phone. Since they didn't have pre-canned arrangements to order by name (which is the type of place I was looking for--a place that does custom arrangements), it did make it a little hard to describe what I wanted. Unfortunately, I don't know a lot of flowers by name (except roses, lilies, and the like), so it was hard to negotiate and understand what would be sent. But I think we worked it out. I said I like the top photo on their website under arrangements in the birch wrapped vase, but I would like something not so prickly (as that picture). I was also very clear that I didn't want pink. My mom is not a "pink" kind of a person. The flower arrangement was unique, but I wouldn't say it was my favorite. And I'm sad to say, it had a lot of pink. It also had a lot of crazy sticks everywhere, but now as I look at other customer photos here on yelp, that seems to be their thing. If it's not yours, you may want to ask them to tone it down. I was happy with the amount of flowers for the price, but I think the arrangement was a bit top-heavy. My mom liked them, though, or least said she did, so that's what's important. I would use them again, but if it's your first time and just calling in hopefully you can be more specific than I was. I had the worst experience with this floral design business. I ordered a candle and flowers from out of state and they delivered the most awful flowers that didn't look like any of the flowers I saw on their web sight that I had ordered. When I called to let them know the flowers were unacceptable, I was so disappointed with their attitude because they were rude and the manager refused to give me a credit or to even send fresh flowers. Such a waste of my hard earned money. So I would advise that if you're ordering flowers from out of the area not to order from here because they don't care about customer satisfaction at all and will happily take your money and throw together their worse flowers. I've heard of some florists doing this but it was the first time it happened to me. Buyers beware from ordering from Marguerite Gardens because they are there to take your money and could care less about customer satisfaction. read more

I order peony's while in Virginia in preparation for my and my wife's anniversary. They were to be delivered to my hotel room prior to check in. I was extremely happy with the staff's desire to make the arrangement and service special. Their help was extremely comforting and the arrangement was beautiful. They even helped with offering suggestions to transport the flowers back to Virginia. We made it back to Virginia and the flowers get more beautiful everyday! I'm not impressed! Was it that I said "I 'm not from Chicago"? Or "this is for their first anniversary- I want something special for them"? My parents and I wanted to send my brother and sister in law a bouquet like hers from the wedding for their 1st anniversary. I referenced two pictures on the company's website both medium sized but full arrangements and the women said "yes those would absolutely be in the $75-$100 range- we can make a really full arrangement like those with pink peonies for that" Overall, we looked like lame jerks! Thanks for the 2 peonies and a bunch of sticks for $100! Avoid this place unless you are in town and can oversee their final product before delivery! I was mortified at the result! read more

Here's my deal with this place: If you get flowers (I don't know from their plants), don't expect to spend less than like $60 and have it look like an actual bouquet. The flowers I got were nice, I asked for $25-$30 bouquet and got (literally) 4 flower stems, a starting to pass prime white bunch flower, and a more fancy version of baby's breath. that's like $6 a stem! I asked "are these really rare or something?" she said...no.. OK, well then, WHAT THE F? Save your money and get flowers at Trader Joe's read more

To start things off I'm not a flower snob. . .however my wife is. She is great and not snobbish except when it comes to flowers. For example a high school boyfriend (or date or whatever) brought her carnations. She still resents them(the flowers that is, not the guy. ..). I entrust Marguerite Gardens with keeping my wife's high standards satisfied. . .and every once in a while they raise the bar just a bit. The staff is great, super helpful and they have never once tried to pawn off some crappy hallmarkish babies-breath filled bouquet of . . .well you get the idea. You may end up paying a bit more here than jewel but by and large their flowers last a heck of a long time, and are totally worth the money. This is a vignette of a typical experience: Me: Hey. Staff: Hey, your the best looking man ever! (that best looking man part is fabricated, but they are exceedingly helpful) Me: I'd like something (insert adjective here) for my wife around $x.xx dollars. Staff: Cool. We'll be super accommodating and fantastic. Oh yeah, and we'll make you look like you know what your doing with flowers. Me: Great. Staff: (after putting together a combination of stuff I'd never think of) Here you go, I hope she likes them. ****At Home**** Me: Honey, I got you some flowers Wife: Holy Awesomeness! I showed up at Marguerite Gardens this past July with a rather specific mission. Having recently landed A JOB, I wanted to make a nice terrarium to keep on my desk. I know VERY LITTLE about house plants. Luckily, there's the Internet. So I get there, with my list of possible plant options and some hope. I walk up to the gal in the store and lay out my list of requirements: slow growing, low light, small size, high-humidity tolerant. Without batting an eye, she shows me a couple plants that should do the trick. (The names of the plants weren't on a tag in the pot, so I have no idea what I bought.) Here's the thing. I just had my 90 day review last week and the plants in my terrarium are looking AMAZING! Anyway, I was ready to buy the plants. I realized I had everything at home to make my terrarium, except potting soil. On a whim, I asked if I could buy a pound or so, and she said "Sure!" So I did. My experience at Marguerite Gardens was completely positive. There was no pressure, or making me feel bad for my botanical ignorance, just a great attitude about helping me find what I needed. (Completely opposite end of the spectrum to my experience at Gethsemane, down the street!) I can't speak as to the flowers, but they hooked me up with the plants I needed. I have absolutely no talent for tending plants (as a matter of fact, I excel at killing them), nor do I have ANY clue on how to plant a container garden. Luckily for me, Marguerite Gardens DOES know! They were easy to work with, kept my budget in mind, and in general did a great job creating a lovely garden on my rooftop. Unfortunately I lost one of the hibiscus trees to a little bug infestation, but I don't think that was their fault....apparently bugs happen every now and then. I talked to Laura at Marguerite Gardens about a Valentine's Day gift for my wife. I asked about roses and she suggested that I should instead have a bouquet of mixed flowers made instead. I am so happy that I listened to Laura. My wife bought me roses for Valentine's Day from Costco, Marguerite Garden flowers were spectacular in comparison. Laura's arrangement had a wide variety of flowers that I had never seen before, some large and some small, all with a wonderful aroma. Most importantly, this was not a delivery from an average florist, but instead a work of art to be cherished. Now almost a week since Valentine's Day, the roses that my wife purchased are starting to fade, the Marguerite Gardens flowers are just as beautiful as the day that they were delivered. The window displays earn them high marks alone; I used one of them as inspiration for my dining room when I moved into my new place. And from what I've seen, the quality is just top-notch. I must admit, I haven't often purchased bouquets directly from them. You see, my employer has a standing order for new arrangements every week, and when the lovely employees bring in the new flowers, they're kind enough to offer the old ones to any of us who are working. On several occasions now I've been lucky enough to snag a gorgeous arrangement that lasts a remarkably long time, especially considering that it's already been sitting out for a week. Due to a busy work schedule, I couldn't make it home this year to spend Thanksgiving with my family. To make the most of my favorite food holiday, I decided to have other Chicago-stuck friends over. I was planning my table setting and my mom asked me what my center piece would be. I hadn't found one yet and probably wasn't going to get a chance to before Thursday hit. She offered to order me flowers to set on my table and in comes Marguerite Gardens. The arrangement they put together was beautiful! Modern, tasteful, and seasonally appropriate with flowers and branches I had never even seen before. Carrying them up to my apartment I even got compliments from people on the elevator! Disappointed! My two dads ordered three corsages and two boutonieres for their wedding this past weekend. The flowers were kept in refrigeration over night as instructed but just two hours out they were already withered. The gardenia flower used for the two matching boutonieres appeared to have been one flower cut in half to make two items. Since this was their wedding, they were hoping for something more special. I admit that I have not spoken with them about this but there is very little that can be done at this time. The wedding day has passed, the costly price has been paid and it is over. These guys are fantastic. I love the European shop feel of the store, and the people there are beyond helpful. I usually walk in with a price-point in mind and not much else, though even when I have a specific flower or theme (e.g. something tropical-y), they are able to throw together a beautiful bouquet. I don't get a snobby vibe or feel pressured into investing more money into flowers than I want to. The bouquets always last a long time and never cease to earn me bonus points with Girlfriend. They also have a "frequent buyers" type of program, so I look forward to my $$ off of an arrangement soon! I will continue to make Marguerite Gardens my go-to for flowers because of the quality of buds and service. read more

This is a difficult review to write/rate because we really enjoy this shop. It's beautiful and everyone is very helpful. We love to choose our florals or branches or exotic leaves to use in our home. This is the first time I've used them for a delivery. While the delivery was prompt and on time the arrangement was not. I asked for something modern and masculine to compliment grey's, purples and whites. This floral arrangement arrived and looked like an English garden. While it was lovely, it was mostly white and blue and very heavy on the green fillers. I contacted Margurite Gardens immediately and they insisted on replacing this arrangement as soon as possible. I was pleased with this and the turn around time to receive the new arrangement. The new arrangement arrived and was better, but still a little too romantic for my taste. What disappointed me even more was that the next morning it was half dead. We contacted them again and they stated that the flowers that had died were new and also died in the shop. They refunded my money, which I did not anticipate, and apologized for our experience. I certainly appreciate their attention to customer service. They went above and beyond to accommodate me and even corrected the arrangement. In the end, it was a decent experience just not a decent product for what I was looking for. We will continue to purchase their selection of frills and fineries for our home, but think twice about using them to create an arrangement. read more

I buy flowers once a month or so and decided to try Marguerite Gardens on a whim. This place is incredible. The last time I went, I asked for a medium-sized bouquet for under $30. I've had a lot of experience at other flower shops in Chicago where staff members have either said it couldn't be done or have even outright laughed at this request; instead, the lady helping me was unbelievably kind and created this stunning bouquet for only $29.77 (including tax).
