I felt that was important for the next place I get my tat. Often times, you find yourself in a place and they make it seem like they owe you something when you are there to get a tattoo. I can't do those types of places. I like it where I feel like I can shoot the shit with you and feel comfortable enough to get something done without the artist feeling like they're above you since what you want isn't an elaborate request or a $400 tat. I got mine for $80 minus tip. A great attitude goes a long way with me. Parking is a bit weird. Park in the front of the establishment or on the side. Do not park in the neighboring parking lot since you might get towed.

I originally reached out after finding Julian's work on Instagram and scheduled a free consultation. During that consult, I clearly explained the tattoo concept I wanted. He told me it was doable, so based on that assurance, I paid a $100 non-refundable deposit to move forward. From there, communication was rough. Scheduling the actual session took a long time and required multiple follow-ups. There was also no design review, mockup, or finalized concept shared beforehand--I was told the design would be done once I arrived at the studio. When I showed up for my appointment (about two months later), things immediately went sideways. The sketch he showed me was completely different from what we had discussed. When I expressed concern (because this is something going permanently on my body), he started scrambling to redesign it on the spot. After over an hour of sketching, he then told me that my original idea wasn't really possible and would "look bad"--which directly contradicted what he told me during the initial consult, before taking my deposit. At that point, I felt uncomfortable moving forward and decided to leave to think it over. A few days later, I reached out explaining that since the tattoo concept I was promised wasn't actually feasible, I'd like my deposit refunded. Since then, Julian has gone completely silent. No response. No explanation. Nothing--despite multiple follow-ups. This feels incredibly unprofessional and, frankly, shady. Clear communication upfront would have avoided all of this. I would not recommend Julian or Alchemy Tattoo in Nashville based on my experience.
