Maria is FABULOUS! So I'd gone a couple of stylists here and there in the past. Always got an OK cut and color but it typically looked the same. I didn't feel too comfortable or confident in doing much more than the regular cut and color with any of the stylists. About 3 and a half years ago I was referred to Maria by a co-worker. Her hair always looked great. Since introduced to Maria- I have never thought of going anywhere else. Maria not only knows what she is doing but will consult with you on your thoughts to make sure you are happy and will advise you on the pros and cons. She's really fantastic with color too. I ALWAYS GET COMPLIMENTS ON MY COLOR! I have so much trust in Maria with my hair that I seriously go in with an "I don't know...what do you think?" answer when she asks what I want to do today. YESSSSS!!!! Oh my God, yes. I'm African-American, with long, relaxed hair. I recently moved to the Bay Area and decided to go out on a limb and try blondish highlights for the first time after seeing another woman whose hair looked great. After the stylist that woman recommended did an absolutely miserable job of highlighting my hair (she left my hair unfinished, streaky, uneven and embarrassing), I desperately combed through Yelp looking for someone who knew what they were doing and could help me ASAP. Sweet infant baby Jesus - Maria was A-MAZING. She was really, really knowledgable, walked me through exactly what she was going to do at every step, and she totally KILLED IT! My hair has a GORGEOUS honey hue to it and looks better than I could have EVER expected. I immediately felt I could trust her. So much so that I let her cut layers into my hair, and I NEVER let someone cut my hair the very first time I meet them. In addition to being super on-point, Maria worked quickly, gave me product recommendations for maintaining my hair in between appointments and gave me insight on relaxer alternatives,. I want to first off say that i went to cosmo school and i am VERY PARTICULAR when it comes to hair and makeup. I have a super keen eye for detail and i am a HUGE critic when it comes to cosmetology. Im super skeptical especially knowing what goes on in the industry. I have super dark thick hair and i wanted BLONDE highlights... not copper, red, orange- i said BLONDE and maria was the ONLY person that did just that. everytime i went back for touch-ups it looked even better. I seriously thought there was no hope because all these other "hairstylist" were too scared to put bleach in my hair and told me it would fall out and pretty much too afraid to do my hair or just simply didnt know what they were doing. Shes not only great with color but she has also done my A-line before... MY HAIR WAS ON-POINT. Because she always gives me what i want, i even had her do my makeup for my wedding and she pretty much made me look like a barbie :) at least i felt like a barbie LOL. I've been searching for a great hair stylist for years... I've gone to my fair share of salons and was never too impressed with the results. Then one day, my friend comes into work with the most GORGEOUS blonde highlights...and then I had to go try out Maria myself!!! Now, I haven't looked back...Maria is not only great at cutting hair, she's an amazing colorist. I constantly get compliments from strangers on my hair, especially the color...even when my hair is growing out and is in serious need of touch ups, people still love it, lol. Maria is super sweet and will give you exactly what you ask for. My sister in law's hair always looks absolutely amazing and she referred me to Maria in the summer of 2011. Maria is the best stylist I have ever come across. I drive an hour and a half just to have her do my hair and it is worth it! I have tried salons in Napa, Walnut Creek and Danville and Maria is by far the best. In this last Saturday I went to the Maria@split ends Salon, I do not actually had any good experience with Salon.I always had some deception, especially with highlights Every time I've done in other salons, It was never good, my hair was always very damaged and also never leaves the way I wanted, but Maria from the beginning explained to me the whole process could have done and the final result, conclusion, I LOVED . My hair was the way I wanted and also my hair was not too dry, she had all the care of the time duration that has to get this product because it has some other salon that want to offer the service to several customers at the same time and they always forget that customer to be with a chemical in the hair with the duration already outdated, result, the client who suffers the consequences, but Maria is very helpful and very careful, my hair was great, and I really realize that Maria has a lot of experience. I loved the way she stylized my hair too. On this day also I did my eyebrow (WAX) with Stephane, She is very nice too, in Summary, I enjoyed the services of this salon, surely recommend to all who want a professional service!!Thanks a lot! read more
