Prices are surprisingly high vs portion sizes, especially for Mexican food, but maybe it's because of the prime downtown location. The interior is nicely decorated and the staff are lovely. The food, however, seems cautiously seasoned, and the portion sizes are not what you would receive elsewhere for the price. Although the ghost pepper & pork quesadilla was fantastic. We found great parking right outside on the main street and didn't have to wait to be seated or taken care of. I don't think this is the best Mexican option in Palatka but I do think it's worth supporting, plus with great parking and easy access to downtown it's worth a visit. read more

Finally gave them a chance, we love authentic Mexican food. This was not quite that. Good chips and salsa. Service started out good, our server had to be prompted to introduce herself. (Basic training issue) The enchilada was forgettable and the beans were canned. The fajitas was grilled perfectly. We had the Mariachilis version with all three meats. Frankly the food was a bit bland. The value is reasonable and we were not expecting good Mexican food in this part of Florida. We are locals so we will give it another go sometime midweek a later in the season. We did notice many Spanish folks eating here so it is reasonable to think it is a favorite. read more

I was a bit dubious about my family raving about this Mexican restaurant in a town where chain restaurants seem to be king. Located in sleepy downtown Palatka, Mariachiles has its own private lot but also there is plenty of nearby free street parking. I was pretty impressed by its vegetarian section on the menu and opted to get two veggie soft tacos. They were piled with roasted corn, spinach, black beans and avocado. Nicely grilled and seasoned on flour tortillas, two of them made a perfect dinner. Nice warm chips came complimentary along with flavorful salsa. The interior is larger than it looks from the front and goes back quite a way. Lots of booths, regular tables and a bar area. My family lives locally and said they also go there when the restaurant hosts trivia nights. Nice staff and quick service, I was pretty impressed with the food quality and flavor. read more

The two fajita burritos we had were very good. please be aware that both their hard copy and online menu says $13 for steak or chicken. However, when we received the bill, there was an additional $2 charge for steak. Because the menu does not reflect this charge. I inquired about the charge with our waitress. she said it was related to the steak, but did not notice this charge is not reflected in their menu. I showed the manager the discrepancy. He refunded the additional charges that do not appear in the menu. Despite their need to update their menus, the food and service was good. We would definitely return. read more

Service was lackluster, wait time was excessive (we were just about the only lunch patrons on a Saturday). Shared a taco salad with my elderly mom who couldn't decide what to order. If the quality and portions had been decent I wouldn't be posting. This was a belated birthday celebration for me and my poor mom treated us. She's on a very fixed income. This is the best Mexican Restaurant in Palatka. I got the fajitas beef and I give them a 6.5 out of 10. Last time I had the California Burrito and it was way better than the fajitas and had just as much meat and total food. I give the burrito a 9.5 out of 10. It also is a great value for your money! I had the steak tacos too and I give them a 7. They have specials every day so you may want to time your stay according to the specials. It's 2 dollars off your meal. Wife and I went to this restaurant a couple of months ago. Forgot to write a review as it was, sadly, a forgettable experience. When we arrived, no one greeted us. We saw what we assumed were employees milling around one family's table. We don't know if that table were their family, but by the way they interacted, it was very likely. When someone finally came over to give us some chips, she placed them hurriedly on the table and walked away with not one word spoken. After what seemed like an eternity (probably 10-15 minutes), another girl came over and offered to take our order. She took our order and walked away. And waited. Some time later, we were brought some more water. And waited. Our food came out, finally, and I do have to say it was relatively good, if not very underwhelming. At no point after being brought food did anyone come to the table. Again, the table with what seemed to be their family were being shown much better attention. I had to frantically wave at someone to get more chips. They brought the check and walked away. Waited again to have someone pick up our card. They took it, ran it, brought it back, and gave the most perfunctory and unenthused "thank you" ever. Better service and food at Salsa's. read more

Great option for food here in Palatka! Staff is nice, food is good, and there's lots of seating. When you sit down they bring you decent chips and salsa and boyfriend ordered the michelada which he said was just okay. We each ordered three tacos (fresco, chorizo, skirt steak, steak and shrimp, beef, and chicken) and they were as stuffed as can be! They were filled to them brim which was great. I really enjoyed mine which were specialty tacos and had different types of cheese, avocado, and caramelized onions in some. I couldn't finish all of them but I tried each one and they had really good flavor to them. My boyfriend got the simpler tacos with just onions, cilantro and cojita cheese which were good. Poor service and lack of caring/paying attention. We come here frequently and if you get one of the ladies who've been working there for years, you get a totally different experience than we had today. I made an easy order of a veggie taco and a side of rice and beans with no cheese. My food came out and the beans looked weird--looks like someone used a fork to take the cheese out, and missed some. I tried to explain to our server what happened and that I was allergic. She didn't listen or care. She came back with a plate with beans with cheese on it. When I said "what is that?" she simply replied--"cheese. What, you didn't want cheese?" Really? No apologies--nothing. And after that, we were ignored as if it was my fault for the mistakes. Decided to stop here for lunch in route to Jax from Tampa / Naples. We had chicharones as an app and ghost pepper / carnitas quesadilla and my honey had the Cali burrito. Seasoning.. it's so important. The chicharones were ok but could have been outstanding if they were just seasoned when they were first cooked. The quesadilla was more like a big taco - beans had no flavor, nor the rice. Even the salsa was bland and the chips were stale. The only thing properly seasoned was the carnitas - which was really good. The bathroom need attention as well, and not just for the day ... the stall doors should lock appropriately. read more

The waitress forgot to put our order in and we had to wait forty five minutes at least. My boyfriend ordered a house margarita which was incredibly weak, and after our food wasn't put in I ordered him a presidente margarita which was too strong but equal in awfulness to the house margarita ( although it was free, due to the tardiness of our food). The food finally arrives just lukewarm almost cold.
