It's very modern and well kept, but calling it a cultural center is a joke. The acquisitions librarian, Doug, is an arrogant mansplainer who shows little to no respect to anyone who isn't a straight white male. If you're a local author, he and the others at the front desk are openly rude and judgmental, speaking over you while saying, "We don't accept self-published books." For the record, I am traditionally published with my books in international libraries and stores. It was also mansplained to me that my books are not being accepted due to the appropriateness of reading materials and the fact that we live in an area where political feelings affect what the library chooses to select. I write romance and paranormal. There's hardly anything nefarious about that, but god forbid the MC in my paranormal series has an LGBTQAI+ daughter. The horror! Clutch y'all's pearls and hide your children! However, the real slap in the face was them still reaching out to invite me to their Indie Author Day in November of 2023. The event was not well organized, keeping all authors in a side room and not really advertising this to the public. Also, they brought in a marketing specialist who went on about how it's better to self publish than go traditional. That aside, they have a great selection for young children and story times. It's great if you want to get them into reading. Personally, I visit the library in Casa Grande thirty minutes away. It's in the same county, and I can drop off my books in Maricopa without being charged fees. But if you're seeking anything diverse that isn't mainstream, you're SoL.

Unlike a state run MVD, Gena had great personality and a smile which always help make the day better. I believe the extra fee you pay to use a private MVD place is well worth not having to spend 1 to 2 hours STANDING at a state run MVD (yes STATE run MVD have removed all chairs). from the time I checked in, to the time I completed my transaction was around 25 minutes. Great experience over a STATE run MVD. The state of Arizona should use places like this to train their staff!!!

I decided to go with the two year renewal this time. John made quick work of it. We recently sold our summer home so my address had to be updated on my drivers license. Thought that had to be done at the DMV but was pleased when John said he could do that too and very reasonable price. Photo, $10 good for another 5 years. (Hate the new photo). This location is on Javelina Ave just North of the NW corner of Baseline and Mesa/McQueen. There is…read morea parking lot on the South side of Javelina but don't park there because the entrance is on the NE side of the building and there is a large parking lot (see photo). Had to go here to fix some legal paper work. You do have to go through a detector like at the airport. Then to check in you use a kiosk (see photo) and you get a number letter like "C301." But they are not printed consecutively so you need to pay attention or check the monitors for what numbers have been called. The people there are very friendly and helpful. I have been there twice now and both times the people have been very helpful because legal paperwork can be confusing. Since you have to go, not a bad option.

The stacks for adults are pretty standard. There's a little section of books for sale out front from their friends of the library and they have good books for very reasonable to downright great prices. Apparently they get lots of donations of good books in good shape. All in all, this is a smaller but still good enough library and even as visitors, we enjoyed it.

This is my local library, and while it's smaller than other branches, I still enjoy coming here. Another Yelper asked me to do the Maricopa reads summer challenge with her, so I said, "Sure, why not?" I am always reading, so this will be fun! As an adult, you can also participate, and once you get to certain levels of points, the library rewards you with some prizes. I came here yesterday to check out my prizes, and the librarian was nice and handed me items I won. I got a free drink pass for Cane's chicken, a one day pass use for AZ parks, and also a free coupon to collect a gently used book at any local library. I honestly don't need any of these items, but it's still fun to win prizes. If you know me, you'll know I love to win free items, but honestly, who doesn't? Local libraries here also offer cultural passes to some of our favorite museums and destinations, so I really appreciate that! I did spot some passes for the Heard Museum, so next time, I am here, I will check them out so I can visit the museum. I have checked out the cultural passes for the Desert Museum in Tucson, and that was great! This library is also a cooling center, and if you need a reprieve from our hot desert weather, this place is for you. They also provide bottled water too. This time, when I was here, they were also proving free covid at home tests and also opiate naloxone reveral kits. I really appreciated seeing that! I love public libraries.
