    Dog park.

A fantastic huge dog park. Small and big dog areas, lots of water. You won't be disappointed and your pooch will love the big area to run!

A new doggie park just opened in town! I'm not sure why they waited THIS long to open one when there's so many people with dogs! I mean Maricopa is the "fastest growing" city since 2003. This dog park is very spacious and big. There's two sides: one for small dogs and one for big dogs. This is excellent, less dogs getting hurt! It's mostly a grass field but lined with some rocks/dirt along the perimeter which is really nice. There's only 1 water fountain which is at the entrance of the park. They should have one on each end so that the dogs can have quick water access. What I noticed about the water fountains is that it doesn't drain the water as quick. There's a bowl/tray so that some water stays in the bowl for your dog to drink. That's so awesome, I don't see many dog parks with this. The water stream is very low though. Along the park, there's several trashcans and poop bags for you to pick up after your dog. There's also a pooper-scooper hung to a tree by the entrance if you prefer that. People have been bringing tennis balls and leaving them there! How nice, dogs can play fetch! This is a great spacious dog park. But several things to improve on: 1. Plant some trees - dogs and dog owners need shade on hot days 2. Insert more tables/benches/chairs - great for dog owners to sit down 3. Build a restroom - There's no restroom nearby so you'll have to do your business at home. Even though it just opened, it has been very popular and active. The dog park is lit up at night but I'm not sure what time they shut the lights off. Come check it out, there's a spacious parking lot waiting for you with lots of doggie friends to make.

Ask the Community - Maricopa Dog Park Alliance

I heard lately there's an old guy there that brings his dog where his dog terrorizes other dogs. Is this currently still happening and what lengths can I go to protect my dog?

We went to the park today and didn't have any issues! There weren't many dogs in the big area so we took ours to the timid section (she's 15 pounds). Nonetheless, I could tell all the dogs were doing fine in both areas. No old man on Sundays perhaps?

I went into 2 of the 4 different areas, and will try to break it down as best as I can. Water Park Area: Now, my biggest pet peeve in dog parks is when owners don't clean up after their pets. There was dogs pooping all over the place, and the owners just left it there. I said something to a couple of people, but they said "someone" will take care of it. Otherwise, the water is stale and recycled, which means it isn't the cleanest. BRING SHAMPOO! Your dog must be washed before leaving that park, and they do have an area to clean them up at. Also, if your dogs don't get along with others, DO NOT BRING THEM THERE. WE DON'T NEED SUPER AGGRESSIVE ANIMALS AT THIS PARK. The water isn't too bad, but my dog loved being in there. I really hope they clean it more often, as I've heard that during the summer it gets really rank in there. Large dog dry land: Now the place just adjacent to the water park is a great little running area. I really like how they have different areas for the dog to do agility training. Like the water park area, this was littered heavily with dog droppings. I really hope people will please start cleaning after themselves. Overall: I did like this park A LOT. I just hope there is more control over these people. I would like to know who runs the volunteers, I can help with this in any capacity.

The park offers two sections: one for small dogs and one for big dogs. We have two big huskies, so we took them to the big dogs area. It's nothing fancy, but it's open and has plenty of space for our pups to run around. There's a few benches with shade and a water station. There weren't many dogs when we arrived, but this was in May, so it was already pretty hot. We stayed for almost an hour, just enough to let our pups get some energy out without getting too hot. We will be back!

This is not the closest place for me to go but it's by far the best. 3 large fenced in dog park areas, many types of friendly and fun pooches will be there for your fur babies to play with. It's fun for me to see all the different types of breeds that come here. Most of the pups are well behaved. I've seen a couple times some negligent owners on their phones so spaced out, don't pick up their dogs poop or watch what their dogs are doing, but as far as dog parks go- it's the best for not having to stress that something negative will happen. I've been to other dog parks in the area that just had bad vibes. This one is nice and happy. It's as clean as a dog park can be, they do regular maintenance to the grounds, and there is a huge parking lot. It's also nice to walk the dogs in that area as well. My boys love it here and I'm happy to take them. Important to note- check the hours on certain days since they do the maintenance and close the parks. I've shown up a couple times forgetting about this and it was closed, so we just went for a nice walk instead.

There's also a scouting activity area that looked interesting and seems to be for scouting troops to have campfires and outdoor activities. Technically there's also a hummingbird garden but unless you parked in a specific spot or know where to look, you'd miss it as its small and tucked in a far corner. While small, it is nice (aside from the pile of cigarette butts some jrrk left) with some nice plants, a short walking path, and a water feature. It has a lot of desert plants but I was surprised not to see more spring flowers this time of year. The park is nice and the water seemed clean and not smelly, but I wish we had more areas of denser vegetation like the hummingbird area to walk around in. It does seem pretty well kept up and I noticed several newer desert willows growing. At 8 am on a spring Sunday, it was busy with people walking, fishing, at the playground, and doing tai Chi, but parking wasn't an issue.
