FYI the covid hours for this museum are 8:00 AM until 5 PM seven days a week but they are not offering guided tours they're only offering self guided tours. My son turned three yesterday and he's currently obsessed with fire trucks. We opted not to have a party because of Covid so we decided to take him to the fire museum so that he could see all the different types of fire trucks, Firemen's equipment and learn a little bit of history in the process. While the museum is small, it's packed with a lot of quality interesting historical fire trucks and memorabilia and my son absolutely loved it. It took us about an hour to see everything that's in there but I think that's a perfect amount of time for littles. I'd say it only takes about 30 to 45 minutes to see everything the museum has to offer if you're there with adults or older children. It's literally attached to the fire station. You can park across the street in the public parking lot that has hourly parking which only cost us two dollars. Entry is free and you definitely can't beat free 99! When we finished we walked next door to the attached fire station and the firemen gave my son a plastic fireman's hat which he loved and cherished. I would highly recommend this place.

My kiddo got promoted to Chief!!!

The museum was neat for me. I love those sort of things, but would definitely recommend this for older kids. I don't know if it's typical, or just good timing, but we were given a private tour basically & it was amazing. The paramedic/fighter was able to keep my kiddos attention while answering my questions & sharing his pride in being in the fire department. He wasn't bad on the eyes either and can try to resuscitate me anytime. Others joined us & we got to learn about their different roles, capabilities and what is required of these brave responders. Did you know they get tested and have to know every street, yes EVERY street in their district. So much fun & appreciate the time spent with us!!

Very cool old trucks in beautiful shape. Not much for young kids to touch/play with. Would recommend for older.

I really didn't know exactly what I expected to find so, I had no agenda but, to get a feel for the geography and maybe discern a reason they would head for Texas in the 1850s. Marietta is north of Atlant in Cobb county. I found a thriving metropolis surrounding verdant hills with huge trees. Looking closer I found traces of the old Marietta. Before General Sherman burned it in 1864 during the civil war. There are only two original buildings downtown left from that destruction. One is now the Marietta History Museum. I'll cover it in another review but, it is one of the best small museums I've ever visited. Visiting the Marietta City Cemetery gave me a feel for the Old. It's on a hill close to downtown and I could imagine from here, the coalescing of a small dusty town forming in the distance. In that town, my great-grandfather xs 3 became the 4th Sherriff in 1838. After spending a day exploring the area I didn't come away with anything you would consider "concrete". However, I do have the satisfaction of knowing they were here in the early days of pushing westward of our country. That's exciting to me. Especially in light of the fact that I'm sitting close to where they settled in Texas and I do know that history very well. My current day assessment of Marietta for those possibly interested in moving there. I found it to be a great little city that I myself would live in. It's got a special feeling that's hard to put in words. I talked to a lot of people and most are from somewhere else. Marietta is a great place to live, work, retire they said one after the other.

The staff were really friendly. Everything tasted fresh. The biscuit was sooo warm, buttery, and soft. The pancake bomb. Crisp on the outside but was still fluffy in the middle. The grits had really good flavor and didn't taste bland at all. Really everything on my plate was good. You can tell they actually put effort into the food here, especially the homemade sauces and little details. Portions were a really good size.

I've been hearing a lot of rave about this place, so I figured it was finally time for me to go in…read more I arrived at about 7:40 AM. There was only one other customer at the restaurant. I approached the counter and after a couple minutes, they got me seated. As I'm looking at the menu, she comes over. It tells me I have to move to another table on the other side of the restaurant. So we gathered the items and moved to another table. I'll look over the menu and settled on the steak and egg biscuit. Everybody goes crazy about the biscuits so I felt mandatory to get one and I did not want to do the build drone because I wanted to taste something specifically on the menu so I could really taste what they were working with. Since at the time there was no other customers order and it seemed like it took a rather long time for the order to come up. But that's fine when it came up it was hot and fresh. When you cut into it, it was smoking hot, so it was certainly cooked to order. I take a couple bites of the steak and egg biscuit which also has gravy on it and immediately was caught off guard by how bland it was. I don't know if they forgot to taste the gravy. I don't know if they forgot to season the flour, certainly didn't season the egg. So I sit there and realize the servers outside so I approached the counter and asked for some salt so I can at least halfway season the food and hopefully wake it up. I pick up the steak biscuit after seasoning it take about two bites and go to put it down and take a sip of my drink and my hands are completely covered in grease. I don't know how they make these biscuits but it's almost like they make like a butter swim biscuit or when it comes out the oven, they dip it in a bucket of butter or something because it's just completely soaked with oil. It really doesn't even taste super buttery, but your hands get covered in it. I had already drove an hour and 20 minutes of course I finished the food pay and then leave. But I have to be honest. I can't imagine the experience I got today is the experience that everybody else is raving about. Under seasoned food that's extremely greasy?! I don't think today was their best day. The space is pretty small inside, so I see why the are completely booked all the time I think they have maybe 16-18 seats inside, and then a few picnic tables outside. I'd give it 2.5 but certainly didn't reach 3 stars.

Speaking to the boss is pointless because he literally knows nothing about the field (his words exactly...) he's just an idiot with a money. (My opinion). Response to our multi-dwelling buildings has only gotten worse. FPS was hired by our management company to monitor and maintain our fire sprinkler/fire suppression system and its equipment. After spending more than $30,000 in equipment replacements in the last year, they still cannot find the source of an ongoing problem and their after hours "emergency" monitoring is a joke, even when their system is malfunctioning and endangering lives. Residents have to call the fire department and other essential personnel to arrive on scene and mitigate the damage caused by this system as the 24-hour "emergency" staffing sounds like a college kid who has no idea what you are saying and sounds like you just woke them up when you call it as the fire suppression equipment floods the entire garage (true story). When a power surge from a storm in Atlanta damaged some of the electrical monitoring boxes in October of 2020, it took weeks for FPS (5 different techs sent out with 5 different answers) to respond and replace the boxes. Daily these boxes will set off an alarm, which should trigger the 24/7 fire monitoring company - also FPS - to call our management with a notification that they are seeing an alarm. The management company hasn't had a phone call from the fire monitoring service in over a YEAR and the box in one building beeps very loudly several times a day before frustrated residents silence it. The CEO and management and every technician working at FPS is aware that our issue is not resolved, yet they sent another bill for $2900 even after their tech told us that the equipment for that invoice wasn't needed and wasn't installed ("No need for you to spend money on items you don't need" was a direct quote). Then that tech changed his story a week later after his CEO snuck on our property without our knowledge or authorization and "checked some things" and claimed to have fixed the problem. Rather than call and explain the situation, the CEO had the tech call and change his story. The tech was right because it didn't fix the issue, but now we have $2900 in items we don't need. The problem goes on and the CEO and every "Customer Service Manager" at FPS is aware of our problem but refuse to answer our management company's emails or respond to their phone calls. Our next step will be litigation after termination. Do not hire this company. Fire Protection Services is being reported to the BBB for fraudulent practices and inflating invoices, as well as poor customer service. One star because while their techs have no idea what they are doing (there is one guy who seems to know - the one who suggested we not pay for items we didn't need), they at least show up on time. When they show up.

Marietta History Museum; Kennesaw House…read more Sooooo much history in this building. I highly recommend. Not a huge museum so it won't take much of you're time but there is a lot of good stuff to see here. Built as a cotton warehouse by John Glover in 1845, the Kennesaw House is one of Marietta's oldest buildings. On May 1, 1855, Dix Fletcher purchased the warehouse from John Glover for $12,000 and transformed it into a hotel. Fletcher named his hotel the Fletcher House until 1867 when he renamed it the Kennesaw House. It was not until the Civil War that the Kennesaw House gained notoriety and expanded its fame. On April 11, 1862, James Andrews and 18 US soldiers spent the night here on the 2nd floor. The next morning James Andrews and the "Raiders" left the Kennesaw House, boarded a train to Kennesaw, and stole 'The General' when its Confederate crew stopped for breakfast. The purpose of this raid was to help cut the Confederacy into smaller pieces by stealing a Confederate locomotive while destroying bridges and supply lines along the way. The raid was ultimately unsuccessful but the Kennesaw House gained fame as the starting location of the "Great Locomotive Chase." In July of 1864, Union General William Tecumseh Sherman used the house for his headquarters during his "Atlanta Campaign". That November, departing US Calvary started to burn anything that could be of use to the Confederate army. Sherman spared the hotel because Dix Fletcher was a Mason and because his son-in-law, Henry Cole, was a Yankee spy. However, the fourth floor did catch fire as ashes from other burning buildings blew onto the roof. The fourth floor was never rebuilt. During Reconstruction, Dix Fletcher re-emerged the hotel "as a resort destination free from the ice and chill wind of the North and the oppressive heat and relentless bugs of the South." It is now owned by the Downtown Marietta Development Authority, and since 1996 functioned as the Marietta Museum of History.
