Was headed to another breakfast spot one morning last week but the wait was waaay too long , so I found this spot instead and I'm glad I did. You order at the register, then grab a seat inside or outside. I got the award-winning fried chicken and French toast with bacon and grits (yes, I was doing the most ). I'm not really a stone-ground grit girly, so these weren't my fav but everything else was tasty! Definitely a spot I'd come back to. Always a great spot to grab lunch. You can't go wrong with anything you try here. I've been dining here for almost a decade. I've enjoyed everything from the fried chicken with French toast to the my go to Nashville hot chicken wrap. Heck I even stop by just to grab a few of their fresh made daily YUGE chocolate chip cookies . I can't get enough of these cookies. Also my coworker and I enjoy their unique fountain drink machine. I wouldn't call it as an "award winner" which I'm sure it won an award, but i've had chicken sandwiches and this was no different, like popeye's, chik fil A, etc... It was basic breaded chicken with a thinly sprinkled layer of cabbage (they called it a slaw) and 4 teeny tiny pickles served with either hand cut fries, like in n out but thicker $14...flavor was good i have to admit. Hubby got a salad with grilled chicken. My SIL got the hot chicken she said it was just ok. The place was small and you belly up to the counter to order and they give you a number and they bring you the food. This place is local and I like to support local business. BUT, charging $2 for bottled water, cuz they don't offer filtered tap water is just kinda wrong. And put me in a mood and side eyeing the soda dispenser. So, I cant recommended but for the price we paid, I think I would have gone to a real, sit down, full service, and bottomless refills on drinks. Even Denny's or other local diners will give you a basket of teas with unlimited hot water I didn't ask, but i'm sure they'll give you unlimited hot water for your tea. Stopped by for lunch and got their fried chicken and french toast and their fried chicken sandwich. Both meals were around $16 each. Overall, the chicken breading was thin and unseasoned for both dishes. The fried chicken and french toast: The batter of the chicken is not super crispy or thick. It's the thinner kind and we felt our fried chicken was underseasoned (maybe so that people can add their sauce/salt to preference). Mine came with syrup and apples, so I thought they underseasoned the chicken on purpose to compliment that at first but the sandwich chicken was the same. The french toast was soft and chewy. The apples were a nice touch, but the meal left more to be desired. The fried chicken sandwiches chicken was also on the plain side though. There wasn't that much cole slaw and it's flavor profile was very simple. It came with fries, which was nice. Overall, we had an okay experience but didn't think there was something flavor or texture wise that really stood out for fried chicken. It wasnt savory or crispy, but rather plain with thin batter. They had some cool soda and drink options that we didnt try. It's an order at the counter and food comes to your table set up. You can grab napkins on your own. Casual spot. I picked this place for brunch and didn't realize it was owned by the same people that own base camp at Kennesaw Mountain but I loved this location more! The food was better but I'll admit vibes are better at base camp. It's fast casual which is great and they were super accommodating with our large group which I greatly appreciate. I got a similar meal from base camp so vanilla latte and a bacon egg and cheese biscuit and idk it was just better here! My iced latte was too sweet and the biscuit was delicious. The food came out super quick and we thought it was very tasty. The kids devoured their Nashville hot chicken. It was big enough to share. They also give you a TON of fries. I've been on the Marietta square and I've always passed this place but I've never been. Yesterday I was scrolling on TikTok and saw a young lady do a review. I highly recommend The Marietta local. From the moment we walked in the staff was nice and welcoming. When you first come in you can take a look at the menu if it's your first time then you can order when you are ready. After the order is placed they will be ting the food to you. The seating is open. You can choose inside or outside. The place is also lined with local art as well. I had the fried chicken and French toast. It was soooo good. I am definitely eating that again. The French toast was cut to perfection and the chicken was fried to perfection. Everything was literally made to order. The apples were even good. My partner order the breakfast skillet and it was good as well. I even loved the sweet tea. My only thing I wished the biscuit we ordered was a little more warm. Over all I highly recommend. The parking is free in the square. Strolling the square on a Saturday afternoon & my family and I decided to stop in for a small breakfast! We ordered Bacon & Egg Sandwich on a biscuit. Unfortunately they were out of biscuits while we were there, so we opted for bread, which was still very fresh! I also got my baby girl grits and the apples. I was really pleasantly surprised by this lunch spot. It was really busy on a weekday, and you order inside and they bring your food outside to you if you sit outside. I had an excellent salad that came with tons of toppings like apples and goat cheese, and it felt really substantial and tasty. The waitress was very friendly and talkative. The outdoor tables have umbrellas to keep you in the shade on a hot day. Parking in the square can be hit or miss and on this occasion it was a nightmare. We came here with a few friends and the staff were super friendly up on arrival trying to find us a place to sit. They were hesitant to combine tables for our party of 4 but luckily someone gave up their 4 seater and moved to a 2 seater so we could fit there The restaurant isn't very big but is family friendly & had a steady flow of traffic on a weekday brunch It's located in the square so very limited free parking but we were lucky and got a street spot The menu is mainly breakfast items with a few lunch items. Everything was very affordable priced! I got the Nashville hot breakfast and the chicken was good but not spicy at all. The eggs were cooked well and biscuits were tasty but id ask for more gravy next time. The grits were delicious, probably my favorite thing I tried there. The Local is a wonderful diner in a beautiful old building. The servers are mostly sweet older ladies who'll make you feel like friends. Simply sit where you want, order at the counter, fix your coffee or hot tea by the entrance, and settle in to enjoy a great Southern meal. The chicken and waffles...er, French toast...is delicious! Went in around 10 AM on a Monday and there was plenty of seating inside and out. The nice lady at the cashier booth explained that you order first at the counter and the food would be delivered to our table. The restaurant was clean and the empty tables had their dirty dishes removed. Once we ordered, the restaurant became very busy. I think that on most days this would be a 5 star place for breakfast. But couple things, kept me from ranking that high. The temperature of the eggs and gravy was correct under the chicken but in other areas were not as warm as I wanted them to be. The cheesy grits were good. I wished they served a good sausage gravy instead of pepper gravy. I think that would really put this meal over the top. Although the Local is small, it absolutely feels homey. Walk in, you're immediately handed a menu. Order at the front, grab your drinks, find a table & they'll bring your food to the table. The Nashville hot was hands down the most delicious thing I've had, since our move to GA. The chicken wasn't overpowering w/ an obnoxious amount of heat. It was literally, perfect and just full of flavor. Sweet and slightly hot. Had a side of coleslaw. It def looks diff from the other coleslaws we've had but it was better. I was so disappointed!!! Two plus years ago I ate here and have been raving about the experience and the food to friends and family who live close to Marietta. Now I am embarrassed. The changes: different coating on the chicken, the chicken was pounded, the French toast was dipped perhaps too quickly into the egg mixture and didn't soak into the bread enough. The grits were good. The orange juice was out of a prepackaged plastic container. Adding a 3% credit card processing fee is also not good. Overall not what I expected. My daughter was underwhelmed I think because I had built it up so much. She only ate half of her chicken and cheese biscuit. read more

First visit to this location and I really wanted to love it. It sits off of Marietta Square and is in a historic-looking and feeling building. We were here on a Saturday for lunch and it was packed inside. The interior is very small and they do have limited sidewalk seating as well. We were crammed up against a wall at a very tiny table for two. Walking around to pick up orders or get napkins etc. was a chore because the tables were so packed together. The staff was friendly and the food looked amazing. You order at the counter and then they bring out your food. I had the famous fried chicken sandwich with their hand cut fries. The sandwich looked amazing, yet fell flat on flavor. We tasted very little seasoning. Personally,, I don't like a lot of seasoning, but the fried chicken breast itself was nearly devoid of flavor. The fries were excellent, nothing like hand cut fries. To summarize, cute place but too many people and tables that are crammed together, which did not provide for a relaxing dining atmosphere. The food, although looked incredible, fell flat on flavor. Of course this was based on this dining experience only, and I would certainly give them another try. read more

It was a cold pre-spring day on the outside, but happy smiles and tasty breakfast warmed on the inside during our trip to Marietta Local. Arriving at the magical moment when the breakfast menu fades to the lunch menu, it temporarily caused angst as we decided which way to go. This is a choice that could affect our entire lives. Thankfully...the All Day Menu provides plenty of breakfast items beyond the morning hours. There are two types of people in this world: "breakfast for dinner" or "dinner for breakfast". I do not fall in the "sushi, ketchup, or seaweed during AM hours" crowd. I will however enjoy a skillet of potatoes etc all day and night. And that's of course the way I went: Marietta Square Skillet, with eggs, cheese, peppers, and onions. Why not a side of potatoes? Let's semi-complex-carb it up! Others imbibed on the Square Sunrise (eggs/toast/bacon/sausage/side) and Chicken Biscuit (chicken biscuit). Who wouldn't love these? The baby gnawed on some of the bacon as should be the case. Piping hot fresh coffee flows from the fountains here, so make sure you get one of those "bottomless" cups. Not surprising they were running low on the available carafes, but that was quickly rectified with even fresher piping hotter cafe. Note upon entry: there's a scientific process where your party orders and THEN finds your table. Please don't be one of "those people" who walk in and try to save a table. Don't worry: by the time you brave the line and finish ordering there will magically be tables available that weren't when you were in line. This is science, don't you like science? Enough friendly chiding. And even if you miss the queue and don't follow this pattern, we are in the South and will say "poor thing, you're probably just having a rough day, sit anywhere." When I asked if I could use my Yelp coupon, I got the best answer ever: "I don't see why not." So I did. This was typical of the extremely courteous and friendly staff we encountered throughout our visit. Next time when I'm there for real dinner it'll probably be something involving fried chicken: Nashville Hot Chicken, Famous Fried Chicken, Chicken-n- French Toast are among the obvious choices. Or go even more homestyle with Mom's Meatloaf. And the light side contains delights like North Georgia Fall Apple Salad. Mmm. Yes to all of those on our return trip, and we'll look forward to sunnier days to eat outside as well for the next visit to Local. read more

So I didn't know it was Chalktober, which made this even better! There were A LOT of different food trucks, but don't get confused, it's actually a small restaurant. *My boyfriend and I got the French toast and chicken cause we were mesmerized from Puerto Rico. The French toast was a little bit soggy, but it still tasted really good. We added some spicy chili oil to at they had which made I it better, but the meat was great! The chicken was crispy and a tad bit spicy. *Both combined together was just pure success, I loved every bite. I do think they should add more chicken because the one they have is too small for two pieces of French toast. But you will get super full and that's all that matters lol. Definitely coming back!! I've been to this restaurant twice now and the service and food are consistently good. I ordered the chicken biscuit both times. The biscuit is homemade and the chicken is seasoned to perfection. The portion size is more than enough. The second time I dined here I ordered the potatoes, good but too salty for my liking. Parking can be tricky due to the area so i always try to dine here early.
