Our tour guide was a no show. After multiple calls and e-mails we gave up. The company charged my credit card for five tickets. I contacted them leaving voice mails and emails and they never responded to me. I finally had to dispute the charge through my credit card. Bad experience and horrible customer service. read more

I wanted to shout out Cat, our tour guide, for leading a really engaging and fun tour. This isn't a ridiculously long tour, although you'll be doing a fair amount of walking. It's worth noting that most of the buildings are either closed at night or closed to ghost tours (which is understandable). That didn't detract from my enjoyment, honestly. Also great storytelling on Cat's part! A lot of times you get the "ooooOOOH spooky EEEEEEEVIL ghosts lived here", and with this tour you got more of a "hey, here's what happened and some of the background behind it." I should finish by saying that I'm not a believer, and neither was my companion. We both had fun anyway. PS nothing to do with the tour, but we had a group of preteen girls in our group and they/their parents were really good at staying respectful. PPS they don't pressure you at all to tip, but I do wish I'd brought 5-10 dollars cash. not a problem at all, just a heads up if you worry about that stuff like me. read more

This was a lot of fun! Our tour guide told great stories about haunted places in downtown Marietta. She showed us pics from her phone of ghosts that had been photographed at various old buildings around Marietta square. This was half Marietta history & half spooky stories. I learned that there was a lot of civil war activity around the Marietta Square. The Root Museum is not at the Square but a White House in front of the Marietta Food Hall. Afterwards, there are a lot of bars & restaurants walking distance to explore. read more

Absolutely perfect food tour on the Marietta Square! Everything was spot on and Brian and Cecilie, husband and wife power duo, have all the passion and knowledge needed for this tour! We took the whole family on a particularly frigid day, but that didn't stop the tasty fun! Starting at the Australian Bakery, moving on to talk about filming and the history of the Square and then to the Strand to escape the cold for a few minutes, we were on our way for a great tour! Don't want to give too much away and I'm sure the tour can change from time to time, but all the spots were fantastic!! My family and I completed the walking ghost tour and we had a great time! Emily was our guide. We could tell that she loves what she does. She was very informative and not only shared the required information about Marietta but she also spends time researching and exploring more about the area. Her added knowledge made us want to learn more as well. Our group wasn't huge but everyone was completely tuned in to each story. It is a great way to see Marietta Square, and it was a lot of fun with friends and family. Our minds, stomachs and hearts are full. We just finished the Marietta Food Tour, where locals Cecilie & Brian hosted us on a 2-hour adventure through the downtown Marietta square. The tour included seven "tastings," ranging from unique Columbian fare to coffee roasted right in front of our eyes. Along the way, we learned about the history of Marietta, including how it earned its name and how some of the local businesses on the square got their start (guess how much a Brumby Rocking Chair cost when this business first opened?). At nearly every restaurant or food establishment we stopped at, we met the owner, and Cecilie & Brian were also extremely well-versed on their backgrounds. They told us the stories of how these business owners got their start, how they operate their businesses today, and even what some of their own favorites are. I mentioned that our hearts were full - it's very interesting to hear how some of these business owners migrated to America, how they used every last dollar in their bank account to open up shop, and how they literally invest their lives in the success of these restaurants. The tastings were portioned just for us (not too big or too small), and a few samples were "off the menu" items that only a seasoned Marietta foodie would know about. At the Marietta Wine Market, the owner taught us how to make a party dip using some gourmet food items she sells in the store. At Cool Beans Coffee, the resident "roaster" showed us how he turns fresh green coffee beans into the roasted beans we all know and love. This wasn't just a "sit and eat" tour. It defied our expectations with the experiences we enjoyed, in addition to the great food. Our favorite thing about the tour was that it featured many businesses that are "off the beaten path" - places we've walked by and driven by a thousand times, but never took the time to stop and try. That's why I highly recommend this for locals, because I think you'll learn about restaurants you've never tried or special dishes at restaurants you've been to before that you weren't aware of. On top of the great time we had, the food guide we received has at least $25 worth of coupons attached that never expire. The coupons, on top of the food and drink served, is well worth the price of a ticket. It was a phenomenal value. Since the world is slowing getting back to normal, I decided to embark on the Marietta Square food tour. The tour was very well planned and organized. The food samples were very tasty. The organizers gave some insight about downtown Marietta and some of the businesses on the square (not just the ones we visited). Most of the restaurant owners were available to give us the story behind their restaurant and how they got into the business. My first food tour & it was everything! The tour guides were a husband & wife team (Cecilie & Brain). Their chemistry was great & they provided good insight about each restaurant & Marietta from the start to end. They're not just food tour guides, but also well-received members & patrons of Marietta. The $50 was worth every penny for 7 tastings. Each stop was hand-picked. Water was also provided at all 7 stops to keep us hydrated. There was something for everyone & considered all dietary needs. Our first stop was the Australian Bakery Cafe & they set the bar high & was my favorite. The secret fish & chip menu selection was mouth watering! The chips were double fried & nice & crisp. The owner took time to chat with us for a Q & A. We ended the tour with the award winning Cupcake War bakery, Miss Mamie's. Each restaurant provided a coupon with no expiration date. We took the Walking Ghost Tour. This was the worst tour I have ever been on and felt I had to let the community know. We couldn't hear our guide. She often spoke away from the group and didn't project her voice so a group of about 20 could hear her over the surrounding City road noise. The photos of the advertisement make you think you will go into the nearby cemetery. We did not - we only walked around downtown shops, buildings and peered down one alley. The last stop was in the middle of the square where she simply indicated there were ghosts in some of the shops. Wow! The delivery of the stories, what we could hear, was dull and felt like she was making it up the whole time. Supporting evidence was passed around with odd photos in a plastic binder that people had to look at one at a time. Only cool thing we heard was about potential civil war tunnels in the area. Can't recommend this tour. Huge waste of time and money. read more

Did the Haunted Walking Tour and was beyond bored, disappointed, and annoyed. I actually cancelled another tour in Lawrenceville because they mentioned being inside, so I thought a walking tour would be a bit more interesting and fun. Well, the tour guide or neighborhood resident who looked like she walked off the street and just joined in the storytelling was not interesting at all - the stories were boring and SO non-interactive, just a plain waste of money! Just walked around the square TRYING to listen to stories over inebriated participants who rudely chatted and laughed the entire time. The narrator needs to learn how to curb ignorant behavior in a creative and fun way (OR not, if it's just plain intolerable stop the SH!&, people PAID for this tour, it wasn't free!). She just let people talk and have their own conversations at the expense of people actually trying to listen/participate. Only thing I remembered was something about some underground tunnels (which the 'neighborhood narrator' admitted not knowing much about....SERIOUSLY???) where we were led to what look like sink hole on the side of a small hill...just plain sad! Putting on a little theatrical makeup or dressing up would have gone a long way! Would have been nice to end the tour with a complimentary drink, a ONE DOLLAR store party hat, a bag of cheap candy, ANYTHING! Have been on tours in Savannah and paid the same amount and they were amazing, not to compare - well guess I am, but you all might wanna take note. read more

One of the most fun and educational "staycation" activities I've indulged in, in and around Atlanta! Brian and Cecilie are pros at getting people to appreciate what's right under their nose. There were two restaurants I'd visited before -- The Australian Bakery and WR Social House -- that I have an even greater appreciation for, now that I know their back story. It kind of completes that small town, Main St. America feel that I'd only glimpsed, before. The food was great, from pot pies to cupcakes and more, and the history lesson around the Square was just as satisfying. The tour tied together the history, the food, the acclaim, and the growing fame that is putting Marietta on the map, for residents, visitors, and Hollywood. I recommend the Marietta Food Tour for any locals who are looking for a fun day out without driving hours. It will remain on my "To Do w/Out of Town Visitors" list for a long time to come! read more

Exceeded my expectations in every way! The restaurants we went to were all so unique & the food super! I met the owners to each restaurant and heard their stories on how they started their business. I feel like I am a restaurateur now! Let me just start off by saying that Cecilie & Brian are two of the most friendly and genuine people that I've ever met. My partner and I go to Australian Bakery, almost every Saturday for breakfast. For months we've seen Cecilie & Brian. And they have and always do take the time to speak with us. One of the things that I noticed was that Cecille always bused the tables at the Bakery as she waited for the tour to start. So, a couple months ago, I realized that it was my mother's birthday on a Saturday. And, being that they just moved to Georgia in December ... and they love Marietta Square ... and they love good food ... I thought, what an awesome idea to take her on this food tour as a birthday gift. I fully expected the tour to be a good tour and fun. I thought that it would be a nice gift and that we'd be able to see a little of restaurants that my partner and I had not had a chance to try, yet. What we received was something completely different. What we received was a time that was just short of or at or above spectacular. Cecilie & Brian make the tour but the amazing stops (that we take) are what made everything so special. They did a tag team approach at providing information about each location and the history. The best part was getting to meet the owners and the chef's of each stop. The food... the food was as good if not better (hell yes.. better) than anything that you'd receive in Midtown. In fact, many of the owner owners simply said good bye to Midtown and opened their locations on what is one of the most beautiful town squares in America .... So would I recommend attending this tour? Let me see, 3 full hours of walking and information ... 7 restaurants ... entree sized portions at many of the stops ... a great time with great people. I joined Marietta Food Tour today. It was my 4th times of food tour experience. I love this tour! First of all, the food samples the tour offered us were big portions! They offered us a to go box so those who were not able to finish their samples could take home with them. Second, our guides, Cecilie & Brian, were very informative,well organized, friendly, and fun to take us 3 hour adventure through the downtown Marietta square. They told us the stories of how the restaurants owners started their business and how they operate their business. Third, I had a special feeling of accomplishment by the time we were done because I not only enjoyed the samples, but also learned a little bit of history about Marietta and the restaurants we visited. This was our second tour and this time we brought m mom and her friend. I would like to break down the entire tour for everyone just so you can know what to expect. By the way...it is an awesome tour!! On our first tour. my wife and I had just moved to the area and we have been to the Marietta Square many times but always felt as though we needed more information on our new home area. One day I saw the Marietta Food Tour info online and we decided to give it a try. Our friend was visiting from the Philly area so we all signed up and headed down to Marietta on a beautiful Saturday morning not really knowing what to expect. We all had an absolutely fantastic time. Same was true on our second tour. We met up with our guides, Cecilie and Brian on the square right before 11 AM and, after a quick briefing, we headed in to our first location, The Australian Bakery Cafe. We were seated and given a brief history of the building and how the current owners came to be there. We were then served a portion of Australian Fish and Chips. The dish was extremely tasty and we planned to return on our own to indulge more into their menu. We then gathered the group and headed out to our next location. Along the way, Brian stopped in the park and gave us some history of the area. It was all very interesting and done in the shade of some very large trees so it was comfortable even on a Summer day. We then headed over to the WR Social Club where we were served an extremely small 'Pig in The Blanket'. It was tasty but not much more than a bite. Would have liked to have had something a little more related to the restaurants specialties that would have made us want to return but this small tidbit was not what i expected and we will probably not return since they did not try to impress us. It was a tasty snack. We then were directed over to Paul's Pot Pies where we were given a true treat. They had actually baked up a miniature version of Paul's signature Chicken Pot Pies for each person on the tour. Now that's how you impress and get people to return and try your foods. The pot pie was very good and we plan to stop by and order a few in the future for guests...when we don't wanna cook! During this entire time, Cecilie and Brian were entertaining, engaging and creative in their presentations. This made the whole tour much more satisfying. Our next stop was a quick walk across the street to Cool Beans Coffee Roasters. We were familiar with this place but it was fun to hear about how the business started while sampling some very well brewed coffee. After being energized with caffeine, we headed down the street to Kiosco Colombian Restaurant where we had one of their signature tamales cooked inside a plantain leaf. Once again, this restaurant provided the tour with a dish that makes you want to return and try more. This was a very well prepared dish and it was served with a fresh salad and some hot sauce for those of us who like it hot. We will return to try more! The next stop was my wife's favorite because they have a really cute dog that greets you at the door. The Marietta Wine Market was well prepared for our visit. We were taken to the side room where the owner had set up a wine tasting and then she prepared for us two different dips. She went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and gave us loads of info on other events at this establishment. Well done and we will return! Our last place to visit was Miss Mamie's Cupcakes, Cakes and such! This place was a dream for those who love sweets! We were told the story of the owner competing, and winning, on two nationally produced cooking shows and then given a sample of her work. My wife was so impressed she loaded up on cupcales as she left. Awesome place and we will be back for more! Cecilie and Brian were also so wonderfully generous in giving us tips for places to eat, shops to explore, and activities for our us to try. We actually ended up eating at The Australian Bakery and Cafe the next morning because we were so impressed. Thanks to their tips, they truly had us feeling like true Marietta insiders. The next tour for us will be the evening tour and we cant wait to try it! This tour is something good for new arrivals, visitors and even people who have lived in the area for years and you just want to check out a few of the newer places in the square. The hosts/tour guides are full of tidbits of knowledge about Marietta as well as the background of all the eateries you visit. Where to start!!! I went on the Marietta square food tour with two friends. We had a blast! The tour and eateries were soooo good but the best part (hard to believe since our stops were so good) was our tour guides!!!! They were amazing!!! What a wonderful midday it turned out to be!
