I'd been wanting to go stand-up paddleboarding for a long time but never seemed to get up my courage to get in there. I knew Nicki because of her reputation as one of the best Crossfit coaches in Marin and as a devoted surfer and a local adventure-sporty type. When I heard she was starting up Marin Outdoor Adventures, I knew there was nobody I'd rather learn from than Nicki. Don't get me wrong, Nicki is pretty hardcore if that's your thing, but I'm more like a beginner when it comes to this stuff. With Nicki and her warm smile leading the way, we geared up and adventured off past the houseboats and the family of seals toward a gorgeous view of the Golden Gate Bridge. We were contemplating stopping for coffee at Cibo along the way or imagining, if it was later, stopping for a glass of wine at Bar Bocce, but I was too content on my s.u.p to take a break. (Maybe I should have because my abs are KILLING me right now!) Nicki is like some cool cross between Cameron Diaz, Laird Hamilton and an EMT. Fun, badass, and she has your back if you need saving. Mountain biking with Nicki was by far the highlight of my trip to San Francisco / Sausalito. Nicki exceeded my expectations in so many ways. I was extremely impressed by how knowledgeable and familiar she was with the mountain and the various different trails. She was able to completely customize the ride for me, ensuring that I got the amazing views of the coastline that I requested while taking my overall fitness level into account. I had an incredibe time and would recommend going mountain biking with Nicki to anyone who is looking to get out of the city and go for a thrilling / challenging ride. I can't forget to mention that Nicki was very generous in offering me some of her energy snacks & water during the ride. She even continued to go the "extra-mile" well after the conclusion of our ride by recommending some of the best fish & chips that Sausalito has to offer. I booked a surf lesson with Nicki for a bachelorette party this weekend and couldn't have asked for a better experience! We were 5 so she brought along Caroline to help as well(also amazing). We were all different levels from never having surfed to just past beginner. We all improved, got some great rides and stood up! We booked through verlocal and it was super easy to set up. I highly recommend Nicki's bootcamp class!! The class is fun, challenging and a real booty kicker! The group is small enough that it's like she's your own personal trainer, for a serious bargain!! She is super attentive to everyone in the group and makes sure the exercises are being done in proper form and gives plenty of alternatives if you want to push harder or conversely if you're dealing with an injury or just not feeling 100%. My 10 year old son and I did our first surf lesson with Nicki and we had such a positive experience, we may be surfers for life. Nicki's approach to teaching how to surf focuses more on doing it well and have fun while doing it. I visited Sausalito from Nashville and wanted to do some mountain biking but being a newby to the sport, I was a little nervous about going at it alone. I was so glad I came across Nicki as her tour through the Marin Headlands was a perfect way to cap off my vacation. Don't be afraid to do this tour as she can customize the ride to skip the killer climbs but still check out the scenery including the beach. This would be a great family activity as kids would love this and its perfect for a solo rider like myself who wants to explore all Marin Co. has to offer but doesn't want to go it alone. Nicki took my son to Stinson for a day surf camp. My son had only surfed in Hawaii and was not familiar with the waves--and cold water--in Bay Area. After revising the basics and water safety on land, she let him have fun and play with boogie board to get him acquainted with reading waves and break. By the time he got on his board, he was ready to ride the waves in. After s full day of water and sun, Nicki took him to Three Wells to rinse off and play. He had such an amazing time, we booked a second full day and we will book again before school starts. I can't think of a better experience for my child while out of school. Can't recommend Nicki highly enough. Way better than a day at drop in camp; this is true contribution to my little guy's quality of life. read more

I am a teacher so I have my summers off from work. I was able to attend Nicki's boot camp a couple times a week. I run many days, but her workout toned and strengthened me much more.
