Update: The quality of the work done at my house by Marin VIP Builders is even worse than I originally thought! Only several months after they installed the bathtub, the caulking they used around the tub cracked and disintegrated. And, I learned today from a plumber that the bathtub itself was not put in properly-- they did not use a mortar bed! This is one of many examples of the corner cutting and sloppy work from Marin VIP Builders. I waited too long to file a complaint with the Oregon CCB. My advice: look elsewhere for your contractor. read more

We hired Isaac and team to replace our kitchen counter tops, install tile back splash, and install new kitchen sink/faucet. We have a smaller kitchen (about 25 sq ft of counter top space). Photos show before on the left (or top), and after on the right (or bottom). The work was completed March 2024. Isaac was honest, straight forward, patient, and quick to respond to questions or concerns. His recommendations (e.g., 3cm thick quartz counter top), though expensive, were high-quality and ultimately a decision we do not regret. The sub-contractors were respectful and took their time, and did excellent work. Some additional details: For insurance purposes, we wanted the invoice of the kitchen counter tops. After several requests, Isaac was able to get this to us. We suspect the delay on this was due to the subcontractor: The invoice was issued by the vendor (Architectural Surfaces), addressed to the counter-top subcontractor, and had to be obtained from the subcontractor. Isaac was very professional, patiently replying to our several requests, and ultimately delivered the invoice. The project start date was delayed about 2-3 days due to cutting/delivery of the counter tops, but Isaac was quick to let us know this and quick to reschedule the start date. The counter tops and sink were installed in about 1-2 days, and the tile back splash and detail work took about 2 more days. I believe the work started on a Thursday and was completed by Sunday. Delays like these may not work for some people, but they were not a problem for us; it was very convenient that Isaac's team could come in on the weekend to complete the work. We did not get other bids on this kitchen-counter remodel, but we did have Isaac submit a bid for a master-bath remodel. Comparing his bid to two others, we can say his pricing is competitive. read more

At first I was happy with my bathroom project done by Marin VIP builders. They replaced a shower and tub unit and replaced the bathroom floor in an upstairs bathroom. However months later I was left with a leak caused by them not using a tall enough wax seal for the new flooring when they re-seated the toilet. Isaac saved us after a plumber ghosted us. We had no plumbing, shower, or kitchen at the time. Marin VIP did couple of jobs at our home - restructuring walls (removing one wall and extending another) to create a small vestibule at our back entrance and building a loft storage in the garage. We received few quotes for this work and while all were within reason, we choose to continue with Isaac because his quote had the most reasonable price balance between the two jobs, but mainly because his straight forward approach. It was easy to communicate with him, he clearly explained what can be done and how and answered our questions. Our choice proved to be the right one - the process of the work was as straight forward as Isaac's quote. His crew came exactly as scheduled and completed both jobs within a week, exactly as planned. Isaac himself was easy to reach and if he couldn't answer our call, he would promptly get back to us. As for the work itself our main concern was that the wall extension that was added would seamlessly merge with the existing wall - it is quite big wall in a prominent location in the house and it was very important for us that neither color nor texture variations would be visible. For our relieve, the job was performed perfectly and after short while, I myself can't remember where the original wall ended and the extension begins. As a bonus, Isaac replaced few of the shelves in our kitchen cabinets with drawers and charged peanuts for that - a small job that we had real difficulty to find a contractor that would agree to do it for us. read more
