This was our second time in about a month at Marina Grill. Last time I ordered the jerk chicken and it was very good, so I thought I'd go that route again. My friend also ordered it, but sadly we were disappointed. The "jerk" was missing completely. Absolutely no trace of it whatsoever, and the chicken was also dry. Our server, Sophia, was adorable and very nice, but our entrees were brought almost immediately after our appetizers were served, giving us very little time to enjoy them. They were good, btw: stuffed mushrooms and crab dip. It's no secret that restaurants with good views sometimes fall short on the food, but this is a mistake. Our waitress Sadie was great the food was awful. We ordered their house salad which had a big wad of rotten lettuce in the middle. I got the flat bread which was pillsbury pizza crust bbq sauce. I think sweet baby rays. Frozen cubes of chicken massively overcook like chunks of cat treats, and 3 tiny pieces of red onion. The Habenero Margarita was excellent though. The band was like listening to bad Wedding Music. The view was great but just get drinks and something the kitchen can cook....crispy Brussels sprouts maybe? read more

Wow!! My family and here came in around Christmas time, and we had a great time. We went on Saturday, right after Christmas, and we had no problem getting in for dinner. Everyone was happy with their meals and drinks. We loved the Christmas lights and the inflatable Santa hanging from the railing! Our server was very nice and attentive. Someone in the group has a dairy sensitivity, and they were able to accommodate that. I got the sweet tea cider and absolutely loved it. Super refreshing. My partner and I both got the jumbo crab stuffed salmon. It was delicious! The broccolini and lemon Parmesan risotto that it came with was exceptionally good. I even finished my plate! The only negative is that his salmon had a few pin bones in it. Mine did not, so that's something I'd be cautious of. This would be a beautiful place to come for sunset in the summer. They have a parking lot you can park at for no cost, so no worries there. I want to give it a 5/5, but am giving it a 4/5 because of the pin bones. Place has gone down hill! Used to be one of my favorites that I couldn't wait to visit. Over the past couple years the food quality has diminished as well as the cleanliness. I had the brunch smash burger that was warm at best, bacon was cold with absolutely no hint of candied maple. They forgot my maple syrup and the waitress was surprised when I asked about it as if she didn't realize it was part of the order. Now let's discuss the bar! The water glass I had smelled like fish! There was leftover food particles all around the rubber bar rail mats that was disgusting! When I advised the bartender she stated it was from the previous evening and she would say something to the evening bar staff about clean up!!! This place is absolutely amazing. They have parking right in front of their restaurant, literally on the water. So you step out of your car to stunning waterfront views. Inside is also very beautiful. I went two days in a row after attending the first time because I just loved the atmosphere and the food so much. I don't know if this is a hidden gem or what, but both days that I went they were not busy at all. I loved that they weren't too busy or overcrowded. The service was also great. I've given up on this place a while ago, but friends wanted to go, so we went. The whole reason they picked this place was for the outdoor seating that overlooks the marina. Guess what though? We had 8 people and that was too many to sit outside, and no they couldn't pull two tables together. They could seat us at two different tables, though. ARGH! It was a Tuesday night at 5:30. It wasn't because it was busy. It's just a stupid policy. They sat us inside, at the back of the restaurant, behind that stupid wall where you can't see anything! And, that's also where they seat big groups, and they sat three tables right beside each other (rather than spreading us out), so we couldn't hear anything! The server was great. Went to marina grill on Memorial day last week. Hadn't been on a while. Very disappointed. Prices have gone through the roof. Didn't anticipate paying $100 for dinner. Crab did used to be off the chart. Chunky goodness. Now its runny. Can't tell its crab dip. Don't know why they changed it. And they have eliminated all of my wife and I favorites. Used to be one of our go to spots. Now I dont think we will be back. Over priced if you ask me. I would not recommend. read more

This place looked so promising from the outside. I've been wanting to try it out. But turned out so disappointing. Shrimp and scallop linguine was bland. Beer choice was,,, eh. Can't wait to go anywhere else when back in town... Was here in September 2024 and just came across a happy pic of my family outside the restaurant thinking we were about to have a nice brunch together-so it reminded me to write this -it all flooded back to me how we felt afterwards. Probably the most unwelcome I've ever felt at a restaurant. I had flown in with my son and my parents picked us up from Wilmington airport. It had been a heavy year of stress for us all and we were so looking forward to seeing each other after both my parents had recovered, one from major surgery and one from cancer. They wanted to take us here for helping them through some of the tougher times. They had come before and loved the view of the marina. Upon entering, the staff did not greet us at all, stood speaking to each other about 1ft away while we waited then both walked off without saying a word. I had to approach one of the staff members close by who quickly passed us to another to seat us (the one who sat us was kind) but she placed us in direct sunlight with no umbrellas in sight. So realizing it was wayyy too hot for all of us (including my parents who are 70+). We tried to get anyone's attention but no one was outside so we simply moved ourselves to the shade. There was no one outside and the place was pretty empty because we were between eating hours. So then someone-who I assume was the manager- came out to scold us about not asking to move to the shade and 'just moving yourselves' the most attention we got from anyone there. WOW. Maybe having a bad day but way out of line. The food wasn't good either, burger was overcooked significantly for my Dads dish, my fries were soggy and cold. An absolute awful experience overall. I don't give a one star unless I mean it. Do better. read more

This was our first visit. We had heard good things about Marina Grill. We were seated and the waitress took our drink orders and asked if we were ready to order. It was around noon so it wasn't too busy yet considering it was Valentine's Day. We talked amongst ourselves waiting for our food. Our food was delivered to the wrong table. The manager came over to our table to speak to us. They remade our order so that it was hot and fresh and apologized profusely. The food was delicious. We will go back again. read more

This was a really cool place for a good drink, good food and very attentive staff. There were four of us and we had everything from calamari to a cucumber margarita to shrimp tacos, fish platter and salads. The food was pretty good ... the hospitality was even better. Douglas (Dougie) had good suggestions and made accommodations to fit our requests. He was friendly with a great sense of humor too. To top it off Alan, the manager I think, stopped by near the end of our stay to check on us. Overall a great place. We'll be back when we're next in the area!! read more

Horrible treatment by management. We went on Sat night on reservations for 4. We ordered and told them we were staying for the concert that they had been advertising to get business. We said to let us know if they needed the table but as long as we were there, we were each having dinner, a bottle of wine, and drinks. After my husband ordered his 3rd beer and dinner was cleaned up, the manager came over and told us we had been there long enough. He said there were other people waiting. We looked- no one waiting- empty tables. We are all 50 plus and polite and spending money. We were in shock when the waitress brought that beer in a to go cup!! Literally the place was dead. How rude. You can shove it dude bc we will never spend our money there again!!! Next time have your staff do your dirty work. If people had been waiting, and we hadn't been ordering drinks, I could understand. Your food is seriously lacking for what we paid too! read more

Right before summer came to a close and a few weeks before Halloween we went to Marina Grill again It was a pretty slow day in this beautiful restaurant! Service was great as usual ... their salads are amazing so of course I had to go with that and my daughter had this crab stuffed salmon . In the end, we couldn't decide what to have for dessert at the end so we had both of their delicious sounding cakes. Nothing better than eating lunch and looking outside onto the pier watching the boats. Definitely planning a return visit. read more

I'm staying at the Cove, a community of boathouses. Just up the block is a restaurant called Marina Grill, so I decided to stop by around 11:15 AM for a bite to eat. It's a nice spot with lots of outdoor seating overlooking the water and all the lovely boats. However, I chose to sit inside since it was both breezy and hot outside. The atmosphere inside was nice and not crowded, likely due to the time of day. I wanted to order their arugula and peach flatbread, but they were out of flatbread--really? So, instead, I went for the turkey avocado wrap with a side of house chips. Despite the lack of a crowd, it took an unexpectedly long time to be served. To make matters worse, the chips were overdone and hard; I would have preferred a bag of Lay's. The turkey wrap was just that--a turkey wrap, nothing spectacular. I might give this place another try since I'm here for the week, but I'll definitely skip the chips and turkey avocado wrap next time. read more

Enjoyed dinner last night with some friends (party of 4)... the waiter was fabulous. Attentive, great conversationalist (but not too much... just enough so we felt his personality and a sense that he wanted to enjoy our visit)... the food was good (for the most part). It wasn't a quality equal to the price. One member of our party was brought an entree that was cold (and should have been hot). This person did not want to make a scene, so she barely ate anything (we encouraged her to say something... but she declined)... I would have given a 5 star review, except for the kitchen. They need to step up their game. The food took a while to come out. Then when it came out it was either mediocre or cold... good potential here... but the back of the house needs to be more conscientious. read more

I gave this place a try again after several years. Sadly nothing has changed. Beautiful building and location it's a shame it ends when you walk inside. There is zero attention to detail. From the hostess that just sits your menus down and walks away, to the sticky floors, to the subpar food. The worst and most concerning part for me, however, was the condition of the restrooms. I had to hold my breath from the smell of urine and it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. I wish I was exaggerating. It was barely above a gas station bathroom. Disgusting. If the lack of attention in the areas that the guests see are this bad I can only imagine what the parts you can't see look like. My wife also confirmed the women's was the same. We were there at 12:30 on a Saturday. Not like they'd been slammed all day and just couldn't keep up. It says a lot about how things are run. That's a top down problem. read more

I wanted to give this place another try after my first experience wasn't pleasant. We booked a reservation for Father's Day and was greeted at the door but, once seated no one acknowledged us for 30 mins and that was only because I said something to the waiter. He stated no one told him we have arrived. This time in particular it wasn't busy at all so to not be acknowledged again for the second time is a disgrace. My wife and me chose to dine at the Marina Grill, Wilmington, NC on Tuesday, April 15th, 2025 at approximately 3pm. This was my 1st visit since the management changed. The menu was new and we were looking forward to the experience. Upon arrival, the "free" parking was easily accessible and readily available. The area of the restaurant is a marina setting. It was very clean and welcoming. We entered the main door and there was a sign that said seat yourself. We were ok with that and found great seats facing the marina. The ambience is very nice. The restaurant is decorated to make one feel comfortable. The seating, we had a booth, was comfortable. The place was very clean welcoming. The bathroom was immaculate. Our waitress, Landry, came over within minutes. She greeted us with a smile and ask if we wanted water or other drinks. Landry was the consummate waitress throughout our visit. She was cordial, informative regarding the menu items and she listened to our concerns (allergies) . We ordered drinks and appetizers. Both were served in a timely manner. The lobster bisque was "to die for" and I told Landry to give the chef my compliments. She brought the chef to our table. I think that the manager thought that there was a problem, so he came to our table as well. No problem here. I just wanted another bowl ! Our main course was served timely. We had the Jerk chicken and the fisherman's platter. Both were very good and well prepared. The food looked good and tasted good. The portion size was very good as well. All in all, we had a great lunch. Our waitress, Landry, was excellent. She checked on us several times during our visit. We saw the reviews and were skeptical. However, I would not hesitate to recommend that you visit and see for yourself. We will definitely be returning and we will ask for Landry. read more

Another great dining spot in the water in Wilmington! We sat outside on a beautiful summer evening overlooking the water and a lovely marina. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. I had a salad, and it was very fresh and flavorful. I do wish I had added some protein though. (Just a recommendation). My husband had fish tacos, which he said were really tasty.
