Last week my family held an event on the second floor here. The staff at the bar and that brought out food worked hard! I had a couple of tasty cocktails such as an old fashioned and an orange-based liqueur cocktail. The food was also very tasty. The sliders, Mac and cheese, fries, and pretty much everything else was fresh and well made. The bar has a great ambiance for a party. Pretty much any drink is makable here with tons of options. Rebellion in Wilmington has a great vibe--warm lighting, with a historic feel, laid-back atmosphere. We dropped by for wings after some recommendations, so our expectations were high. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and our waiter was especially attentive which we appreciated. The only hiccup was the food timing--our wings took at least 20 minutes to come out. That said, it felt like they may have just been having an off night, and the service throughout stayed positive and professional. Rebellion is a great spot not only to watch a game but enjoy some great food and drinks. Very warm and welcoming atmosphere, dimly lit, nice bar area and tons of open seating. My wife and I went there when they had some of their burgers specials and to watch a game. They're veteran owned, have a ton of bourbon and a nice craft beer selection. I opted for the 1836 burger. Was a double patty with tomato, arugula, white American cheese and thousand island dressing served on a nice sesame bun. Tremendous burger, highly recommend. Rebellion has always been good to me with burgers, but I went a different route. I got their Cuban. As someone from South Florida my expectations are sky high for these. If you cannot make them authentic then they need to stick out and this one does stick out in a good way! Despite being PACKED the service was friendly and fast! We wanted to go grab dinner, and the first place we went was crazy packed. With the overwhelming number of delicious places downtown, Rebellion called our names! We love their sheet pan nachos (MASSIVE), the brussel sprouts, and the ribeye sandwich with the chimichurri sauce. We also added chicken tenders and fries to round out everything. We spent a good part of the day enjoying Wilmington and decided to grab som lunch. We tried a few places but the waits were too long. We came upon Rebellion and had no wait and had heard some good things about it. Our waiter was Ch----n and seemed weird and funky. Except he never offered us a drink until 20 minutes after we put in our food order. The one item I ordered which was the "Butchers Special" somehow at 1230PM was no longer available. When I asked him to come back to me while I chose a plan be, he continued to mention how great the chicken wrap was and even compared it to McDonalds wraps. Gross. The 2 sweet teas came out quickly, but we waited another 15 minutes for our food. There was 5 of us, 2 kids and 3 adults. The kids got chicken tenders and we got burgers. Their chicken was so burnt and dry that we had to find edible pieces for them. But because we were all very hungry, there was no sending back. Additionally, when you advertise a special and even put it on your sign to get people inside, you should have enough to provide to your patrons. From the Mario Pork Bites, Shrimp Basket to the original yummy Rebellion hamburger. Even their Raleigh brewed wheat beer was good. My husband and I finally went to Rebellion for lunch. We've been in the area for over four years. It's a cool place with a huge bar. Too hot to sit outside today, so we sat inside. It wasn't crowded at all but it fill up a bit by the time we left. I had the Rebel Yell, which consisted of smoked turkey, bacon, cheese, tomato and mornay cheese sauce on sourdough bread. It was excellent, although pretty messy with the yummy sauce - ask for extra napkins. I had a side of roasted Brussel sprouts that were served in a lemon butter sauce and sprinkled with parmesan cheese. It was a large portion. My husband had the Wild Bunch burger with shaved ribeye, chimichurri, mozzarella, tomato, arugula and a spicy mayo; and a side tots. He really liked it. Enjoyed the biggest order of delicious nachos EVER here earlier this month! At least 3 meals in one order. Perfectly arranged with the freshest ingredients. And enjoyed a couple great craft cocktails too with new friends while hanging out in this friendly and festive ambiance. Stopped by this place late at night after attending a show and decided to stop in for a late night dinner as we were starving. It's a good thing we chose rebellion because if you are starving this place and the portions are where you wanna go! We ordered the nachos with added pulled pork. (It comes with beef/chilli already) and boy do the pictures not do it justice because the portion of this nacho plate was HUGE. Like half the table was covered with this serving of nachos! The flavor was delicious. It was a mix of beer cheese and béchamel cheese sauce and the toppings were fresh and paired together very well. We also ordered the brussel sprout side dish and the flavor profile on it was extremely delicious as well! The ambience was fun and definitely gave off a popular late night pub vibe, with the inside keeping some of the original buildings decor/brick build. Our waitress was amazing and the wait wasn't bad to get in despite it being a busy time at night for the downtown crowd. I would say my only complaint is that the water definitely tastes like it's from the tap, so if you're a picky water drinker then maybe stick to soda or alcohol only here. It has some great TV's but man the service here can be very iffy, decent to bad. We sat at the Bar and Allie was pretty darn amazing (Short Staffed and Under Paid) and she handled that bar like no ones business, had to wait a while but she never forgot anyone from what I could tell. This place really should have 2 Bartenders and if someone calls out, where's the frickin Manager. Food is good, we have the chicken strips and I highly recommend them. We went on a Monday night with a large group and were seated immediately. We found out they did half price burgers on Mondays (not sure if always or just a special they had going on). Most of the group ordered burgers and loved them all! I ordered nachos with chicken and it was such a large plate! I got the chili on the side (and ended up not eating it because it felt weird with the meal haha). Great experience here tonight! Waitress was FANTASTIC. Pretty crowded but we barely had to wait for table. We had the candied bacon and a side of crispy Brussels to share and I had garlic Parmesan wings and my husband had the Rebellion burger. Two (extremely minor) quibbles: no Pepsi products (not a big deal) and the wings were described as "jumbo" and they most definitely were small/average. They were delicious, so I am not complaining, but be prepared. Very loud, enthusiastic environment with all the sports playing, but we expected that and everyone there was having a great time. We were here a couple days before the 4th of July, 2025. We stopped in on a weekday an hour after they opened for the day. There were a couple people seated at the bar and one group at the dining area tables. The bar area is long with plenty of seating and the restaurant as a whole was clean with good ambiance. We were greeted immediately and had drinks in hands within minutes. I asked the bartender for a bourbon cocktail that was sweet and she made me a congress hall. My husband had the gold rush. Both drinks were very, very good. We also both ordered the Rebel Yell sandwich, me with waffle fries and him with tater tots so we could trade. The sandwiches were huge and delicious, the fries and tots were cooked perfectly crispy and golden brown. We both left with leftovers for the next day there was so much food. We would defiantly go back the next time we are in Wilmington. read more

The two ladies running the bar were absolutely amazing. I couldn't ask for better service. The drinks, no matter what I ordered were delicious. But now on to the food... The Brussel sprouts were the BEST I've ever had. The garlic balsamic drizzle all over them was to die for. I also ordered the garlic parm wings. They are smoked and then fried. I liked this burger the most because of the variety of flavor. It was savory with a hit of sweet and hid the fact that the burger patty itself is not well seasoned. Rebellion Burger - although this is the restaurant main burger and it has everything I like in a burger, I couldn't finish the half of it I had. The patty is thick which is great, but the patty itself lacked seasoning which made the burger itself hard to eat. The toppings were good and I enjoyed their bourbon bbq sauce. Wrap, It Up Charlie (tuna wrap) - my wife ordered this and I took a few bites without the avocado crema (I'm allergic). It was good the tuna was cooked well and a nice size. The rice and beans pair with the tuna to give a savory pop of flavor which makes each bite a delight. Tots - get the tots they were so good and the house made ranch pairs phenomenally with them. Unlike the burgers the tots are well seasoned and I could order those any day. Fries - I tried my wife's waffle fries they were also well seasoned and delicious. They were crunch in the outside and soft in the middle which is the perfect fry for me. I swear I'd come in here and just eat their potato products. Drinks: I had the habanero nights was good. The flavor of the habanero and peach paired well together. I wish they drink would have had a more sweet forward with a heat back as the name and ingredients would imply but overall it seemed that they habanero provided a hint of flavor without heat. I would still recommend the drink, as the overall taste of the drink was refreshing, bright and light for a summer night. Service: our service was phenomenal! He checked on us regularly and ensured we had everything we needed for our meal. He was also very friendly, I wish I remembered his name, but he had long blonde hair. The food and drinks too a little while to get but the place was busy and despite how busy they were we were seated immediately. My drink from the bar took a while even after the bar slowed down. Walking in to the restaurant you are instantly blown away by the atmosphere! People laughing a packed bar full of people enjoying libations and if you like sports there are televisions everywhere! The crowd was mixed, regulars and visitors all enjoying a great casual dining experience! I was eager to jump in so I started tequila shots real quick! This place was a good time waiting to happen! The menu had a great selection..we started with the candied bacon and then we had salad and for my entree I chose the Kentucky Hot Brown...let's see if they can beat our Kentucky tradition. The food was delicious and the hot brown was as good as we have here in the commonwealth. I was with a large group and no one complained about their food. The drinks were great, the service was great and the atmosphere was over the top! It reminded me of some of the pubs in Ireland and England...laughter was definitely being served! A genuine 5-star that is based on over 5+ years of frequented visits. Rebellion is a fantastic bar/grill that has a comforting atmosphere that compliments the historical architecture and stunning arrangement. The bar is top notch with hundreds of spirits to select from. Staff has always been friendly and each bar tender has a unique, personal touch that makes each drink something to savor. The food is a interestingly weird combination of "old style classic" bar food options, crafted with always delicious twists that knock them right out of the park. (Recommend the candied bacon! With a whiskey sour to kick off the occasion right). Music is great, lighting is cozy, the facilities are clean, and the screens have virtually all the various games and events one would be wanting to view. OH! And for anyone who keeps active on Untapped. You will be pleased. In the end, Rebellion has become an all time favorite for my wife and I. We always make it a point to drop in when we visit Wilmington and we have never been disappointed. We love it and hope to share the fantastic experiences with other. If I could give zero stars, I would. We had a truly terrible experience at Rebellion. Despite it being a slow night with plenty of open tables, we waited over 45 minutes for our food -- and we were just a party of three. Meanwhile, multiple tables that arrived after us were served well before we even got an update. Our server, Chapman, was completely MIA most of the night. No check-ins, no drink refills, no apologies -- just vanished. When we tried to get help from other staff, they were rude and dismissive. We even had to flag someone down just to pay our bill, and instead of being helpful, they acted annoyed and immediately started talking about us to other employees within earshot. Completely unprofessional. At that point, we just wanted to leave as fast as possible. Between the nonexistent service, the rudeness, and the sheer disorganization, it's clear the staff would rather hang out with each other than actually do their jobs. read more
