This is one of the best hidden spots in Wilmington. It's located on a corner kind of easy to miss. We stopped here on a late Sunday night after the beach as it was one of the places open late, very thankful that it was. Such a unique and different menu we started out with the Big Wes Lil' Weiners which was 4 smoked Jalapeno and cheddar sausages wrapped in an empanada crust served with an arugula chimmichuri dipping sauce. So innovative and delicious, sauce had a bite to it and the sausages were juicy and crispy with the empanada crust, highly recommend. I wanted to house made roast beef only available on the weekends but it was sold out, no surprise. Opted for the Ghostface Fillah instead. Shaved ribeye, arugula, horseradish on delicious sourdough bread. Perfect amount of ribeye and the all of the components worked perfectly. Saw quite a few people getting the burger as well, people rave about it. We also got an order of the garlic parm curly fries which couldn't have been much better, place just has such a fun menu putting their twist on American staples, perfect spot to grab a bite and watch a game. I was out in Wilmington for a training and was looking for something a little bit different and off the beaten path...and THIS. WAS. IT. This place will be a must-stop for me every trip, I think. I was a little intimidated by the small menu, because though I'm not really a picky eater, I do like to have options. I settled on the Big Easy Po' Boy and Garlic Parm Curly Fries, and not only did they not disappoint...but omg. I'm drooling just thinking about both. The fries were perfectly crispy; and the flavor of the garlic parm--12/10. The sandwich was outstanding; I just wish I had brought a friend to split it with. And it was MESSY. Not a great first date food, if you're looking for something easy to eat. But, absolutely worth it. The sauce on the sandwich was so good, and the beef was tender. The baguette was perfectly toasted and crunchy, yet chewy. Fox's Hole in the Wall lives up to its name in that it is a hole in the wall; it's only a block off Front Street, but you definitely might miss this place if you're not looking for it. And that's a shame, because of how good the food is. And the bartender/server and chef both made this feel like the type of place you'd become a regular; they were friendly, and the service was quick. One fine late afternoon in downtown Wilmington, I was walking around for a quick place to grab lunch and Fox's came to mind. A couple of people at work had talked about this place so I gave it a try. When you first walk in you are promptly greeted and seated. The inside is spacious and casual, the entire feel is more motorcycle dive bar. We ordered the cheese fries and the smash burger. I was a little disappointed with the smash burger because it did not have any of the markings of a true smash burger. There were no crispy flat edges, no grilled onions on top. When I was ordering I was told they don't do grilled onions. What I got was just a regular cheeseburger and it was juicy and delicious - but they should seriously consider renaming the item on the menu. Cheese fries were delicious, and the sauce on top was generous, and they were fried perfectly well. Overall we had a decent and quick lunch here. If you are in town come check them out! read more

Rubén was really good. As you can see the ruben slice on the left had about 3 pieces of meat and the one on the right was loaded with meat. I thought the portions on that were a bit odd. I ordered a side salad as well since it didn't come with a said and was really pleased with the salad it had really good arugula and cheese. Our service was quite bad my friend had to grab her own sauce from the pick up counter because the waitress took forever. We didn't get checked on and had to flag her down multiple times to get napkins, extra sauce what have you. The place was really small and compact maybe like 6-10 tables and a bar area. Tried this spot last night and we were not disappointed. The chicken sandwich gets 5's across the board from my husband, the Parmesan curly fries were amazing, hot and fresh 5/5, and the smash burger was cool - like a 3/5. We did not eat inside because it was way too cold but it was easy to find & since we went so late at night (around 10:30pm-11) we didn't have a hard time finding parking. All 3 of the items we ordered plus the ginger ale totaled to $31 and some change! I don't know if all the food was worth that price but I would go ahead and try something different. If you get the items to go, be sure to check your bag for condiments and napkins, as our bag didn't have neither. Dropped by this cute new bar. It's a little small inside but their outdoor area is spacious, more room for standing outside. There is also cornhole outside. Seats inside are comfortable with leather style cushion. They prepared the food super quick, less than 15 minutes, but I was the first customer of the day. I tried the appetizer Big Wes' Little Weiners, garlic Parm curly fries, and half pound Boston beef (with ' back it up' and cheese sauce for an additional cost). Everything was delicious. The highlights were the weiners and the Boston beef. The weiners were fried perfectly and the smoke and cheddar sausages were big and juicy, not spicy at all. The chimichurri sauce added a nice tart flavor do the weiners. The curly fries were crispy. The half pound Boston beef is huge, enough for two people. It's served in a soft Kaiser roll. Definitely worth it to 'back it up' and add the cheese sauce. I loved the thinly sliced beef and any time I got a crispy bit. Stopped in before a comedy show at the wilson center to watch some football and grab a bite to eat. We love the ambiance. The bartender was friendly and easy to talk to. The fried cheese app was amazing, we were starving so I forgot to take a picture before we devoured it. My husband had the chili cheese hot dogs, he said "the dogs were good" I had the chicken thigh sandwich. It was amazing. Super flavorful, juicy, and the Hawaiian bun really topped it off. Shhh. Don't tell anyone. Behind this pawn-shop looking storefront is a solid little bar with a kitchen doing some better-than-most sandwich fare. I try to avoid tourist street places, getting off to the side streets to avoid tank tops, flip flops and sunburns. Yes, it's dark inside. Yes, they have just one salad. Yes, the fries are extra. Yes, they have COLD 'Gansett on draft. And yes, that IS a portrait of The Most Interesting Man behind the bar. This place is super clean, with a smallish bar and 5 or 6 high tops. The staff is fast, friendly and the kitchen gets your grub on quick. We had the beef empanadas, three lightly-fried of good size and well filled, served with warm cheese sauce. Bueno. Curly fries are served a la carte, seasoned or cheese-sauced and were not greasy or freezer burned. Just right. Sandwiches we tried included the chicken with a good bun, hand-sized filet, fried just right. Duke's mayo and pickles, and my picky eater demolished it. The BLT is served on thick toast with 6-7 slices of thick cut bacon and was properly toasted - and very good. Finally the shaved ribeye beef was delicious, marinated and served on the same bread as the BLT. Only complaint - the press scorched the exterior just a bit - but l still finished it off. The building is small and pubby (wood panelling) but does have outdoor seating in the back. A really good late '90s playlist goes well with the food and bevs. Will be back to try the Bahstun Beef sammich next time; if l cahn pahk the cahr neahby. 4.5/5 give it a try - but let's keep this to ourselves, 'k? read more

This place use to be the Crust. Owners rebranded it, redecorated the place, and changed up the menu. They appear to be going for more of a bar, with food, versus restaurant with drinks. Same as the Crust, small indoor seating, outside seating in the back. Wait staff to take care of you at the tables. Menu is mainly sandwiches. After following Fox's on social media and seeing their magical menu in photo form, I finally got the chance to try them out a couple of months back. I'm just disappointed in myself for not trying them sooner. I immediately fell in love with the Ghostface Fillah which starts with a sourdough caraway bread grilled to perfection, cheese, arugula, hot roast beef, horseradish mayo, and a Demi glacé you want to dip everything in. It's absolutely killer and I've not been able to stray away from it. But that's not it, I've tried the fries, pasta salad, fried cheese, and Big Wes' Little Weiners. Not sure who Wes is, but yknow what... good for him. Everything on the menu is delicious and somehow they've managed to keep that impeccable quality even when it's for takeout/delivery. We've found many reasons to order from Fox's recently and they never miss. Everything is packaged perfectly, nothing missing, all the sauces, and it's just that damn good. We've also dined in and love the little hole in the wall this place really is. The restaurant is spotless and the guys working are super nice and attentive. The last time we dined in, the local health inspector came in and tried her best to ruin the kitchens day, but they still managed to take care of us and make sure we had everything we needed for a good experience. This was a surprising hidden gem in Downtown Wilmington. The ambiance is welcoming as is the staff. We were greeted by our server Christian and the bartender upon entering. The restaurant has a casual feel and is a relaxing environment with a sense of humor as there is a large portrait of the Dos Equis "The most interesting man in the world" behind the bar. The tables, floor, and restroom were all cleaned very well with no visible trash, crumbs, or other debris noted. We ordered the Garlic Parmagan fries and two Smash burgers. The fries were perfectly cooked with no excess oil and were seasoned well. The burgers were amazing! First, the burgers are at a price point lower than other restaurants in the area, only $10. I asked her which was the best sandwich & she recommended the ribeye steak called Fillah and she was absolutely right. It was so tender on yummy grilled bread. My husband had the 1/2 lb roast beef sandwich which was also excellent & we shared a huge order of curly fries. We also got a half price bottle of wine which is the Thursday special. A place that you might miss walking by, but something you shouldn't pass up. So far I've had the burger, the dogs and the pork chop sandwich. All of which have been outstanding. You also, or at least in my experience, get greeted by a gentle giant with a beard who is always happy to take care of you. The atmosphere is one of my favorite parts about the place.
