I never had any serious back…read moreproblems, but I was feeling stiff and misaligned which was annoying in my yoga practise - plus sometimes my back muscles would just get really tight and sore (which I thought was just part of me working out so much, but turns out it was due to misalignment). I knew that my pelvis was tilted forward a bit as various yoga teachers had told me that was the cause of my stiffness. So I felt overly prepared when I walked in into my first exam. Dr. Lila Wolfe listened to me bragging about all my little pains and issues, and then examined me very thoroughly. She immediately found out that the stiffness I was experiencing wasn't due to my muscles not being stretchy enough as I had always thought - it was because my lumbar spine was completely locked, thus not allowing much movement and resulting in my chest & shoulders always making these crackling and popping noises when I stretched (again I thought that was just normal..). Also she found out that my pelvis was not only tilted forward, but also twisted to one side which suddenly explained why I always hold my head to one side (and I thought that was just a little spleen I had).. After hanging out on the super relaxing back-stretch-table-machine that warms up the spine for the adjustments (seriously, this table is SO WONDERFUL!), she adjusted my middle back - CRACK it made and suddenly I felt a rise of energy going through my body. As an avid yoga practitioner I know how much body and emotions go hand in hand, but additionally I learned that because all major nerves run through the spine, basically all inner organs are also connected to a poor posture. After that middle-back crack, she also adjusted my hip and my shoulders/neck and helped to promote the natural curve in my neck - sitting in front of a computer all day and looking down on my phone, my head was hanging down a little and I got headaches on a regular base. Well, that got significantly better through the adjustments! Dr. Lila Wolfe took her time to explain everything in detail and answer all my questions (and believe me, I had a lot of questions!). The best thing though happened in the next few days - my spine suddenly felt all bouncy and wonderful, the stiffness of my spine was gone and I finally could do all the fancy yoga poses I always thought just weren't for me - the unlocking of my middle back sections truly did wonders! Other side effects - I don't feel stiff anymore when I get out of bed in the morning (well, I thought that was just the effect of getting older), I look skinnier (because my hips were tilted forward, my stomach was always pushed out as well - standing up straight suddenly makes me look like a mega babe!), and am so crazily flexible all of a sudden that my yoga teacher is jealous ;) Even though everything feels great even after the first visit, unfortunately the unhealthy habits and muscle memory need a bit more work than that. Of course I continued to sit in front of computers all day, so that I needed more adjustments. If you are looking for a one-time-fix, this might not be for you. However, each time your body get adjusted, it lasts a little bit longer - I've been five times now and feel and act way straighter, are much more flexible, and have learned so much about my body.
