We are extremely pleased with the service we received and the price we paid at Marina Shipyard. Tony, Nick and the entire staff were very knowledgeable,helpful and friendly. We feel we made the best choice possible for the maintenance and now the future upkeep of our boat. (30 foot Ericson sailboat) They did a great job at a great price. Because we are first time boat owners, we did tons of research about paint, parts, repairs, maintenance, prices, etc. We knew what our boat needed and like any consumer, we wanted the best service at the best price. We investigated all the shipyards within a 60 mile radius of our home, we read reviews, visited repair sites and spoke with lead personnel at each place and found Marina Shipyard to be the best one for our needs. We spoke to and emailed Nick and Tony for at least two weeks before proceeding with the work. We needed repairs to the hull, sanding and bottom paint and replacement of the strut bearing and zincs. We asked tons of questions and they always took the time to respond and gave great advice. We evaluated and confirmed everything the staff told us about the materials that would be used, the work that would be performed and the time that it would take. At times, we were on site and witnessed the work in progress. We were very pleased with everything we saw. In the end, everything went as planned. The repairs, paint, materials and costs were all completed within the scope of our estimate and work order and done to our satisfaction. Communication was very good between the repair staff, office staff and ourselves. We had a great experience. To anyone who has read negative reviews, please don't let that dissuade you from checking out or using Marina Shipyard. None of those things happened to us. In fact, we experienced all the positive things that the good reviews said about this place. Other notable perks about choosing Marina is the yard is kept super clean. It was the cleanest one we found. Also, our boat was transported in via truck, not sailed in. They had the ability to receive it in, work on it and then put it in the water upon completion. Marina shipyard worked on my Mainship after some damage was done to the port side strut. They took care of the repairs and put us at ease. We were very happy with the quality and service we just received at Marina Shipyard. We've had our 42 ft sailboat B'Shert for 15 years and have used a number of yards over the years so we have ample experience for comparison. Marina Shipyard was impeccably clean. The work was done on time and to a high standard. The haul out and bottom paint went as expected and as quoted. While the boat was out of the water they did a mechanical inspection, with our advanced approval, of anything that could sink a boat. Based on this we had them do several repairs that were not part of the haul out bottom paint price. I took the time to look at each of the items they recommended and agreed they were necessary. These items of course added to the cost. For each item I asked for and got an estimated cost. When the job was done the cost was less than the estimate. In all I am happy with Marina Shipyard and will use them again. I have already recommended them to several other boat owners. Tony, the yard manager was particularly helpful and attentive to our boat. So were Dooley, the mechanic, Chad who did much of the work, Dawn in the office and the paint supervisor whose name I forgot. We had a bunch of work done on our boat in September, and Marina Shipyard was able to get us back in the water in time for a regatta we wanted to race in, which ended up being a quick turnaround. Getting your boat hauled or launched is typically done on island time. If you come prepared to take half a day, you might be happy that it was done in less, but at least you won't be upset that it's taking too long. Besides, you're on a boat, in a marina, bring a book if you don't have anything better to do and try relaxing on the water. Maybe other yards haul you out faster, I don't know, I've only ever hauled out here. Tony took really good care of us and our boat, and because of that, we'll be back. Just for the record, our last haulout took 2-3 hours to get it out, and less than an hour to put it back in. I got there at 9am for the haulout, but there were 3-4 boats in front of me, so I just walked around and talked to other boat owners, sail maker friends, yacht broker friends, etc. read more

Steer Clear! My husband and I traveled up from San Diego to have a boat inspected before purchase. We left San Diego at the crack of dawn so we could be there when they opened. When the broker arrived with the boat at 9am, no one even acknowledged we were there for a couple of hours and when they did, we were just told it would be a while. No apologies,, nothing. (Our inspector had to wait with us as well). They herd the customers around like cattle and have ZERO customer service skills. They finally pulled my boat out of the water (after their lunch break). We did not even know who to ask for help because there were so many people walking around, many of which were irritated customers like us. After spending about 6 hours standing around, we were able to be on our way. We ended up needing the bottom repainted and because of our experience, we decided to wait until we got our boat down to San Diego to have the work done. Luckily before we did that we were able to find another boat yard in town that was amazing. Complete opposite experience. If you need to have work done DO NOT go here. They treat you like a number and do not value their customers. read more

Not the cheapest, but fair, thorough, very professional and honest. I'll definitely be returning. Nick and Dawn were extremely polite and responsive with explaining potential costs and scheduling my haul out. Tony and Dooley were very knowledgeable and took the time to listen to my concerns. I had a fuel sender leak fixed, bottom paint, including outboard motor brackets, and improperly installed thru-hull transducer removed & new one installed. Quality of the work was very good! Don't waste time with other boat yards. I have one word for Marina Shipyard: PROFESSIONAL! Lastly, they actually had me complete a customer survey which was worded with the obvious intention of looking to improve customer service. read more

I recently had my Catalina 42 hauled at Marina Shipyard for a bottom job, one through hull replacement and new packing gland material for the prop shaft. From the time I arranged for the haul out to launching everything was handled on time, fairly and professionally. The yard offers a free and very thorough mechanical inspection as soon as the boat is out of the water. There was no pressure from the yard for them to fix any issues pointed out in the inspection. The price quoted for each job was exactly what was ultimately charged. Special thanks to the yard manager Tony along with Dawn, Nick, Victor and Dooley all of whom acted professionally with each other and with me. I have owned boats for more than 30 years and over that time dealt with yards in the S.F. Bay Area and Mexico and this was my first time in SoCal. My Marina Shipyard experience was honestly the easiest one I've ever experienced. I'm pleased to recommend them to anyone requiring the many services they provide. read more
