Shell Point Marina is, without question, one of the finest marinas we've ever experienced…read more An amazing boutique marina We stayed here last year, and coming back, it's somehow even better. The property is pristine, the bathrooms look straight out of a magazine, and the new laundry room is beautiful. But what truly sets it apart is the people. especially by General Manager Meleta , who makes you feel like family from the moment you arrive. For us, this place is an escape. Every visit feels like a vacation. And the sunsets? Honestly, we've been to Key West a lot, and these sunsets beat it. Five stars, no hesitation.

I had a very disappointing experience with Shell Point Marina…read more I specifically chose this marina because they offered engine flushing. When I picked up my boat, I noticed the battery switch had been left on. When I asked about it, I was told they don't turn the battery switch off after flushing because they don't operate the boat during the flushing process. That explanation concerned me because the Mercury owner's manual states that the engine must be running in order to properly flush the cooling system. Based on what I was told by the marina, I don't believe my engine was being flushed according to the manufacturer's procedure. As a result, my battery was completely discharged because the battery switch had been left on. In addition to that, I experienced repeated problems with the fuel dock being unavailable and the entrance gate not working properly. In the end, I lost confidence in leaving my boat there. I paid to terminate my contract early so I could bring my boat home and take care of it myself. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend this marina.

Restaurant is over priced, food is average. the community in general is very clique oriented. Constant gossiping and generally a lot of mean people. If you have an issue, good luck getting a human to talk to. The general manager (Keith) is never available, won't return calls, texts or emails. When I called him out on it, he just said, "well I'm pretty busy and my life doesn't revolve around the tenants" I beg to differ. If you run a community the tenants are the backbone of that community and you BETTER, make them feel like a priority. We rented because they offer you a nice deal on rent and promise to give you a down payment to apply towards your purchase. I'm glad we rented so we weren't locked into living there. The houses for sale there are generally way over priced and the values dropped like bricks in just the year we were there. Florida law dictates that deposits are to be returned in 15 days if there are no issues. We had none, and they just lied to us when we questioned where our deposit was. They blamed a "glitch" in their system, but there is something else going on, because we can't talk to a human at all. We are now at 32 days and no acknowledgement of our problem, no offered solution, no apology, and no ability to talk to anyone in charge. Don't bother with this place. It is in the middle of the sticks and surrounded with 8.3 million people. it might be nice for a retired couple who can pay cash for their home, don't mind that the value will depreciate and don't mind high lot rents. But if you are looking for a friendly place with no dram, I'd skip this place for sure!!

Lands End Marina - Wet Slips at Lands End

It would have been criminal not to put this marina at 5 stars. I bought a sailboat in this marina…read morewith a working engine, 2 weeks after I bought it the engine stopped working (classic). The mechanic I used took forever to fix it but the marina was so nice about everything. They transferred the slip, they checked in on me to see how I was doing, and I when I finally got the engine fixed (almost two moths later) they prorated my stay so I didn't have to pay another full month since I just a week into the next billing. Anytime I had a question they were there, whenever I needed services they were there, it was service with a smile since the day I bought the boat. The only reason I was there so long was because of the mechanic I used for the engine. It was not their mechanic. It's a special engine so it needed a special mechanic. I want to be clear that the work was not being done by the marina. Services are pretty good, they have free electric and water. They'll get you ice, they have pump out and water fill up and they have a full staff working on your boat for almost any type of issue or service. If they don't do it they'll point you in the right direction. I'm glad to leave but sorry this isn't my forever marina, at this point I have been paying for two slips for a couple of months. Heads up, I understand getting out into the bay is trickery if you have a deep draft sailboat.

They also offer boat repairs, dry storage, and have a restaurant and bar on site. Facilities include bathrooms with showers, laundry room, and captains lounge. But afer new live aboard laws went into effect requiring pump out stations at each dock slip, this marina no longer offers live aboard wet slips. They do have water and electricity at each dock slip, and offer wi-fi. Overall nice, well kept, clean marina, with several amenities.

One star. I trusted Riverview Marina with my boat, and my final launch there was the worst…read moreexperience. The side and rear camper enclosure windows were removed and tossed in the cabin instead of reinstalled, leaving the boat exposed. Rain got in and ruined my registration, insurance papers, and other documents. Medications got soaked and stained the captain's seat. That damage was preventable. Personal gear also disappeared. My docking boat hook and two dock lines were taken off my boat without permission. Crystal said they had the hook. It was never returned, and neither were the lines. I ended up replacing gear that never should have been taken. Billing was also an issue. The final amount was much higher than the quote, and I never received a clear, itemized invoice. JR installed my windlass, but the chain constantly jammed. Another mechanic later had to remove and reinstall it properly and said it was one of the worst installs he'd seen. The adjustment wrench was never returned. At the work rack, the extension cord for customer use had exposed live wire. When I flagged it, it was brushed off like it was nothing. There was also only one ladder for access; if the mechanic was using it, you couldn't even reach your boat. That's a safety and access failure. And when the office closed at 5 p.m., there was no restroom access. After all this, I was told someone would call me back. That call never came. Boaters should note that depending on tide and draft, getting out at low tide can be difficult or impossible. I expected basic competence and respect for my boat. Instead, I got damage, risks, and excuses. Boaters deserve better.
