My friend and I went on a getaway and we had a whale tour canceled so I booked this trip morning of. We had so much fun even though my friend vomited (from the ocean, not from kissing a dead fish ). The tour guide was kind, fun, and informative and activities on board were very enjoyable. Just bring nausea meds!

We had a great time. The captain and the other gentleman were very friendly and helpful. The captain let my daughter drive the boat and the other guy let several kids be involved with pulling the crab pots and interacting with the crabs we caught. We did see a gray whale and many other points of interest. The sea was rougher than I anticipated, I was glad we all took Dramamine first. We spent a small fortune in the gift shop, they carry great stuff including shirts with the artwork of whimsical Alaskan artist Ray Troll. A lovely day, the highlight of our trip to Newport.

This was the funnest part of out trip to Newport. We were walking around the shops and came upon this place. Since it was a spur of the moment thing, I didn't think there would be room for the 4 if us... but there was. Both the captain and the guide were super friendly and informative. They covered everything from the first-aid measures and what each boat around us did, to the different sea creatures in the area and how to tell apart whale species. We saw a couple of grayback whales that were very close to the boat and we stayed with them for about an hour. It was very cool to be that close to the ginormous creatures! We set crab traps and the kids got to drive the boat. If you have the chance to do this - DO IT! It was a bucket list item for me and the highlight of my year. Well worth the money!

This was an awesome whale watching trip. The crew was great, friendly and very interactive. For the price was a amazing. We threw out crap pots and found so many whales.

This was an absolute blast!! The staff was super nice over the phone and in person. We saw migrating grey whales, but just going out on the water past the jetties was worth it. I don't get car sick unless I am reading as a passenger, and I did get pretty queasy during the middle of the ride- I only really felt it when we were holding still and the boat was rocking gently, the big waves didn't bother me at all. My tips: Dress warm, like include a base layer and a hat, possibly even gloves as you will be holding onto the railing and won't be able to pocket your hands. Buy some cheap Dramamine at the drug store just-in-case, they sell packages of 40 on site. Pack lightly, I kind of which I didn't have to haul my purse all over the deck. I've been to the Oregon coast aquarium before, but if I had to choose between the two, this boat experience totally wins out!

Worth every penny! Amazing crew that is friendly, intelligent, and interesting. Beautiful boat and points of interest.

Tour was great and informative for those that know very little about sea life. Kids were able to help their out the bouts and crab pots before we left the harbor. Slowly motored underneath the bridge and out of the bay. We headed north in some somewhat rough water looking for whales. We didn't see anything until we were heading back in. One young whale, way way off in the distance. Oh well, maybe next time.

Kevin and Nick were great. We had a great time on our recent trip. We had gusty winds, so we couldn't spend much time on the ocean, but we still had so much fun... saw a whale, sea lion, caught crabs, and all the kids got to drive the boat.

We especially enjoyed getting to hang out in the captain's cabin to warm up, ask questions, and drive the boat for a bit.

They will tell you where to go. The boats are your standard 14'.5' aluminum boat with a 9 HP outboard on it. The motor ran great, it was also new for the season. You need to leave your card as a deposit. I'm not crazy about doing that, but not a big deal. They guy working there was very nice and helpful. The store is pretty small, but has plenty of snacks and drinks as well as fishing supplies and bait, live and refrigerated. I'm not leaving a five star for one reason, they require you to clean the boat when you get back. I was beat from pulling pots and really not in the mood to wash down a boat. They have a hose, so you basically wash everything down to the back and then use a pail to remove the water. The positive is they had the hose right there on the dock next to the boat. I brought my own pots so it was nice to wash them down there instead of later. Big plus for me.

It turned out to be a beautiful day at the beach to top it all off. You pay in the store and they do charge an extra percent if you're paying with a card (don't remember how much) which is a tad annoying but you get over it. Then it's time to head to the boat and meet the extremely friendly and funny crew to head out to sea. The way the crabbing works is that they set pots in the morning and then whichever boat you're on, you pick up a string of pots along the way. Pot after pot the crab were overflowing and everyone has to help! Watch out for the claws, those crabs aren't playing around. We had great luck and caught a TON of crabs. I highly recommend having the crabs cooked & cleaned onsite. We paid under $20 for 34+ crabs. We had crab for weeks! Cost is reasonable, $55 per adult and seemed pretty kid friendly above the age of 5 or so. Will definitely do again!

I LOVE zodiac boats, but I really didn't quite understand WHAT I was in for on this trip. First, it starts with just GETTING OUT of the harbor. The guy was hesitating when I went up to the dock. It was a little rocky out. Depoe Bay is the world's smallest harbor (see pictures). Its tiny. The big waves smash in, and well, you know zodiac boats are those orange rubber boats and are, well, er, small. You can only go out of Depoe Bay on a fairly good day, as the waves coming INTO this tiny harbor make it nigh impossible to get OUT in any boat, let alone a zodiac. Add a little bit of bad weather and well, Madness Ensues. OMG! we went VERTICAL trying to get up and over the waves to get OUT of the harbor. Once we got out, and we had to try about 3 times, he sped up the boat and well, More Madness Ensued. Its like a really fast, rocky roller coaster and you're not strapped in. Then there's the whales, petting distance, from me in the small rubber boat. Whale bigger than boat. Well, it was a rollicking good time - and I went hoarse with laffing and screaming. The boat dude was laffing his head off at me. They basically guarantee you a whale sighting, as the whales live there and hang there quite a bit. And yes, I saw em. They were BIG and beautiful. This qualifies as one of the best times I have ever had in my life! GO FOR IT! its KaRAAAzee fun. Find the zodiac guys right there on Highway 101 on the cement bridge over the dock - and No No NO, don't take the boring wooden boat trip. GET ON THAT ZODIAC!
