Nancy also offered us personal use of a couple crab pods. Her humble hospitality was very much appreciated. She treated us like family. The RV Park is quiet and peaceful. The river was very nice to drink morning coffee from and my husband enjoyed a late evening cigar while watching the river. Crabbing was a blast. The RV Park had showers and restrooms which is a huge plus. All in all it was a great time, and we will definitely return. one thing that could make it just a tad better is a kids area. It's a smaller area so I understand that might not be an option. Definitely would recommend this.

There are plenty of activities for families, namely Ripley's Believe it or Not, The Wax Works, Oregon Coast Aquarium, Sea Lion Docks and Yaquina Head Lighthouse. There is plenty of RV Parks for camping and many hotels, motels, B&B's and VRBO rental options. The Historic Bayfront is a great place to walk with shops, museums, restaurants and gorgeous views of the bay and marina. They have plenty of public parking and restrooms available. We've always enjoyed our time here. Would highly recommend.

My review is based only on the Day Use fee system and not on the RV park or moorage. The Port, a…read morepublic agency, has a recently added Day Use fee system applicable to the entire port property at the south beach marina location. The fee is $7/day and is only sold in day long increments (always expiring at midnight) unless you buy a $75 yearly permit. Since this fee is applied to all of the Public port parking at the south beach facility this means it applies to parking by the fishing pier, the non-motorized boat launch area, or anywhere else that you might park to go out on a boat or simply park for a few minutes to walk around. The fee is payable via app on a smart phone as well as one pay kiosk. But while the area is festooned with signs for smartphone payment, from the company that collects the fees, there is no signage to direct you to that kiosk. It's way over on the north end by the boat ramp, and not apparent or visible from most of the parking areas. I feel this fee is exorbitant, unnecessary, and generally implemented in an unfriendly manner for the visiting citizen or tourist.

There's plenty of space for our RV on all sides, including our slide out. There's plenty water pressure is always great and we've never lost power at this park. A picnic table and fire pit is provided in each site. The on site staff keep the restrooms and showers clean and tidy year around. The campground, overall, is kept clean and well maintained as well. There's a small store and firewood sales near the main entrance. The camp hosts that we've met over the years have always been very nice and welcoming. There's a ton of activities available nearby. Everything from the Newport Aquarium, shopping, breweries and dining to beach walks, hiking, fishing and crabbing. It's a great place to visit year around.

Excellent beach camping | family friendly…read more First time camping at the campgrounds! We usually go to Nehalem, but since that's being renovated this year, we decided to try somewhere new. This is one of the best family friendly campgrounds on the coast. No wonder it is highly rated. We plan to come back next year. We're a family of four. We have young kids, one being a baby, so we knew we wanted to try out one of the yurts. It's a great intermediate option of being indoors in the outdoors. We booked online early in the year for C26, The Columbia site. Highly recommend it. It's not close together with other yurts and nestled with the bushes. There is electricity and a space heater! It's also in a great location because it's close to a beach access (1/3 mile walk) and to the bathrooms. Bathrooms are SO clean, wow! The staff maintaining this place is amazing. The bathrooms are heated, warm water, shower stalls and a private ADA approved shower unit, and well stocked every day. Other things to note about the campgrounds: playground, disc golf, hiking/walking trails, close to the aquarium and amenities! Bring bug spray if you go in April and walk to the beach. Lots of mosquitos on the trail. Quiet hours are 10-7. Buy firewood for $7, I believe. Easy check-in and check-out.

We stayed at Chinook for 6 weeks and could have stayed longer if we wanted to…read more This park is absolutely fabulous for those of us traveling with pets. The owners are great dog lovers and they will do anything to make you and your pets feel welcome. The park is small with excellent amenities, washer/dryer room, full hook ups, cable tv, and the wifi is free and excellent strength. I know this really is exceptional. Most parks will tell you they have free wifi but most are hardly usable and have the pace of a 2400 baud modem in the '90's. It is not really a park for those with kids, there are no kids amenities like play grounds and they are not allowed in the river. We especially picked Chinook RV because it breathes the simplicity that we like and that makes us feel relaxed. The proximity to the river is awesome. The dog off leash area is also located at the river and they have a HUGE field to run and play in and get their paws wet in the river. I am a wheelchair user and Chinook RV Park is very accessible to me. I can accompany the dogs easily to the off-leash area in my wheelchair and can even drive around on the field and getting close to the water. This depends on the tide of course, if it has been high tide the grounds can be wet on some places and you will soon get to know those areas and know you have to avoid them in order to not get stuck. We were parked at space nr: 16, all spaces are wide and large. Our 5th wheeler is 42 ft long and we had no problem fitting in. The cute small seaside town of Waldport is a 3 minute ride away. There are a couple of accessible beaches where you can get access with a wheelchair and sit at the entrance to the beach. I can highly recommend Ona Park which has a lovely bridge over the slough and lots of places to sit and watch the dogs run on the beach. Patterson State Park is our absolute favorite, it has a paved sloped path to the beach. I park at the end of the path and watch the dogs play. Patterson State Beach has a small stream of non-salty water the the dogs love and will lie in to cool off. if you do not want to go down the sloped path you can sit up the hill, there are benches where you can watch those on the beach and it has stunning views over the sea. Waldport has a good variety of small shops, an excellent grocery, pharmacy, drug store, hardware store, candy store and don't forget the antique stores. On Thursdays and Saturdays the Pacific Dough Company, a bakery with the yummiest breads, tarts and pastries is open to the public. You have to try their Raspberry tarts they are to die for. On wednesday there is a small farmers market where you can buy all kinds of fresh produce and of course some art products. For breakfast and lunch/dinner I can highly recommend Jamie's Dockside Diner. A little bit further up the Alsea River Jamie has her diner on the dock on the river and serves the tastiest food ever. Take your time and lounge outside on the dock while enjoying your food. Chinook RV Park is conveniently located to all these great 'things to do'. This park management is of the highest standard that we ever experienced. They made us feel right at home and we are sorry we have to pack up and go. We certainly will be back!!

We were driving from Northern California hoping to find a campground near Yachats. Every single one…read morewas full and when we came upon rovers park we were amazed that there were several openings. As we drove in I was very hesitant since it did not look inviting at first. Our site, number 24, is right at the beginning of a path leading to the water. There is a mowed area to walk and benches that are very inviting. We initially were planning on staying for one night but we are staying for since we love it so much. This is by far one of the sweetest places that we've ever stayed. Very friendly people and a real hidden gem. 8-19. Stayed again for three nights and easily could have stayed much longer. What a special place.a y people have dogs and there are places for them to play. Always friendly wonderful people
