Crab and Ling Cod fishing were fun with the Sea Pirate 2 Crew! Make sure to bring snacks and Baileys for the coffee. Weather was OK but be prepared for the swelll.

Went out fishing today with captain Dave , Mike , and Aron .. limited out on rock fish and caught a few lincod as well.. great crew fun boat. They filet your fish at the dock for a small fee and vacuum pack them for an additional fee. Tip.. they will store your fish over night for FREE ..

Like this place. Several boats operate out of this office. We spent the morning on the Enterprise. Nice crew on the boat. Boat was fairly new and in excellent shape. Bring your own snacks and drinks, and anything else you think you might need. Took a half day trip for rockfish and crab. Deckhands were on the ball, always where they needed to be when they needed to be there. The boat provides quality Daiwa reels on Ugly Stick rods with appropriate terminal tackle. For your catch, cleaning / filleting and vacuum sealing / freezing is available for a nominal fee. A good time was had by all!

We had a great experience with Newport Tradewinds. We did the 5-hour bottom-fishing trip with the crab pot add-on. We were on the Enterprise (which was clean and well kept), and Dave and Aaron were great. There were 10 people on our boat, and almost everyone caught their limits. Mostly rockfish, but also some ling cod. Three times someone caught two fish at once (one on each hook). Our captain (Dave) moved us around a fair amount to put us over fish. Each crab pot pulled in 12 large and delicious Dungeness crabs (after females and too small ones were returned to the water). When you return with your catch, you can get your fish filleted for $1 a piece, and Mark will cook the crabs (perfectly) for $1.25 each. They'll remove the shell and guts if you want, but you can also take the crabs whole. You can get your fillets and crabs to go in a bag, or they can vacuum pack portions for you for an additional fee (I don't know the breakdown, but it was $29 to vacuum pack 12 filets and 20 crabs). Barry let us know that frozen and vacuumed crabs will stay fresh for up to a year. Everyone was really friendly and helpful. We would happily fish with them again.

What fun! I can't tell you how many times I have gone out (lately on the Sea Pirate) and limited out. Halibut, Crab and Rock Fish. Captain Dillon does a great job and just does NOT give up! If they are not hitting in one place, he will start playing the ocean and find them (they can run but can't hide from him!). Plan on 9 or so hours with Halibut and 6-7 hours for Rock Fish and Crabs. Bring plenty to eat, sun screen (or waterproof clothes on the bad days) and have fun!

Too few traps for number of customers.

2 people, 3 hr trip, $110., 1 1/2 crabs each. Not worth the time or money. Staff is friendly and nice.

    Chinook salmon that was caught

It was a great day of fishing and the captain was swift and skillful in finding the fish. We were lucky and the fish were hungry, our group maxed out on rockfish in under an hour. The captain was nice enough to let us go salmon fishing as we has so much time left, and each group caught some. This has been the greatest fishing trip I've been on in a while.

Had a great day, was hoping for a lingcod but just maxed out on bass and got a cab. Would definitely recommend going here over other charters. We had a really great experience and everyone in the group had a good time!

Took the whole family out for a day of fishing. Office people, crew and Captain of the ENTERPRISE were all super nice and helpful! Unfortunately for me, I got seasick JUST as I dropped my line. Everyone else was fine, but I got violently ill. The captain took my husband and me back to shore and then went back out with the rest of the group. I was impressed by how generous this was. My daughters and sister and brother in law had a wonderful day of fishing. I would TOTALLY do this again, except I'm a little hesitant ... for obvious reasons! Definitely recommend for those looking for a fun day of fishing in Newport!

They will tell you where to go. The boats are your standard 14'.5' aluminum boat with a 9 HP outboard on it. The motor ran great, it was also new for the season. You need to leave your card as a deposit. I'm not crazy about doing that, but not a big deal. They guy working there was very nice and helpful. The store is pretty small, but has plenty of snacks and drinks as well as fishing supplies and bait, live and refrigerated. I'm not leaving a five star for one reason, they require you to clean the boat when you get back. I was beat from pulling pots and really not in the mood to wash down a boat. They have a hose, so you basically wash everything down to the back and then use a pail to remove the water. The positive is they had the hose right there on the dock next to the boat. I brought my own pots so it was nice to wash them down there instead of later. Big plus for me.

It turned out to be a beautiful day at the beach to top it all off. You pay in the store and they do charge an extra percent if you're paying with a card (don't remember how much) which is a tad annoying but you get over it. Then it's time to head to the boat and meet the extremely friendly and funny crew to head out to sea. The way the crabbing works is that they set pots in the morning and then whichever boat you're on, you pick up a string of pots along the way. Pot after pot the crab were overflowing and everyone has to help! Watch out for the claws, those crabs aren't playing around. We had great luck and caught a TON of crabs. I highly recommend having the crabs cooked & cleaned onsite. We paid under $20 for 34+ crabs. We had crab for weeks! Cost is reasonable, $55 per adult and seemed pretty kid friendly above the age of 5 or so. Will definitely do again!

I LOVE zodiac boats, but I really didn't quite understand WHAT I was in for on this trip. First, it starts with just GETTING OUT of the harbor. The guy was hesitating when I went up to the dock. It was a little rocky out. Depoe Bay is the world's smallest harbor (see pictures). Its tiny. The big waves smash in, and well, you know zodiac boats are those orange rubber boats and are, well, er, small. You can only go out of Depoe Bay on a fairly good day, as the waves coming INTO this tiny harbor make it nigh impossible to get OUT in any boat, let alone a zodiac. Add a little bit of bad weather and well, Madness Ensues. OMG! we went VERTICAL trying to get up and over the waves to get OUT of the harbor. Once we got out, and we had to try about 3 times, he sped up the boat and well, More Madness Ensued. Its like a really fast, rocky roller coaster and you're not strapped in. Then there's the whales, petting distance, from me in the small rubber boat. Whale bigger than boat. Well, it was a rollicking good time - and I went hoarse with laffing and screaming. The boat dude was laffing his head off at me. They basically guarantee you a whale sighting, as the whales live there and hang there quite a bit. And yes, I saw em. They were BIG and beautiful. This qualifies as one of the best times I have ever had in my life! GO FOR IT! its KaRAAAzee fun. Find the zodiac guys right there on Highway 101 on the cement bridge over the dock - and No No NO, don't take the boring wooden boat trip. GET ON THAT ZODIAC!
