I am genuinely shocked by how many people have experienced the same behavior from Alicia. I have personally been subjected to the same treatment, including being accused of things that were completely fabricated. The volume of similar stories is appalling, and, astonishingly, this business continues to allow it. Her behavior comes across as a blatant power trip, and she seems to single out guests to mistreat throughout the night. No one should have to endure that from any employee anywhere. I am so glad Alicia has taken pride in creating an atmosphere where she can accuse anyone of anything just to feel important. It is amazing what some people will do for a sense of control. Randomly stopped in for a bite to eat. Not from the area. Sherry was my server and she could not have been more delightful. I got a turkey sandwich, which was delicious, warm, and messy. Look, some people don't like the dive bar aesthetic, but I thought this place was pretty great. Don't expect Haute cuisine or an expensive wine experience, but it was good grub and the people there were friendly and kind. Definitely a locals hang out, but the locals were entertaining and nice, which I can't always say about places of this caliber. Unfortunately I will never step foot in this establishment ever again. My experience with the service has been continuously disappointing. Lucky for them they are the only dive bar in Lakeside. I've been personally slandered by Alisha the bar tender for no reason. I attempted to contact management (which seems not to exist) and have sought out the owner. It's such a great location, I wish this establishment represented Lakeside the way it deserves to be. This evening I stopped by to see a friend and out of nowhere I was accused by Alisha of a scenario she clearly made up. She made a situation personal intentionally without cause. The service here has gone horrifically bad. Alisha the bartender makes it hard for everyone to be there and is just flat out rude and throws fits. She even says things like Tuesdays is her time to socialize while working so customers can wait for their drinks. Just flat out disrespectful and discourteous. Haven't been here in a long time- really disappointed. Horrible service. 4 people behind the tiny bar and nobody comes out to serve the customers, even the ones sitting inside. Having lived very close to a few salty dog-ish seaside dock's, there is something differently special about the people and the bars that are located around a marina vicinities. Initially there is a presence of total dive bar special, but looking around Marine Tap Room, I really picked up on a lot of Muskegon history, partially by the 4X6 photos under the glass tables tops and other historical picture's. I nearly read every one..(It's worth it). I am pretty confident that many stories were told atop the bar stools among the former patrons, you can almost feel it. One need only take a quick moment to observe the feel of labor-shipping, timber and other industries of Muskegon lore. The photographs I referred to above depict a booming and robust towns history when a place like Marine Tap Room, years prior, was perhaps one of the bars serving the shipping community during that time period. On to the food: These folks (the bartender's) make great food without a kitchen, yes that's right-there is no kitchen. Basically a toaster, a cutting board, microwave and a cooler...That's It!..No deep fryers, no ovens.. Given the facilities lacking equipment, the bar food is excellent: Nachos, Pizza (all with extra cheeses) home made taco meat and excellent sandwiches. There used to be a time and a place when bartenders cooked your food, served your drinks and share a story, How many bartenders today can pull that off? My friends and I came here last night to hang out. Not even 5 minutes after I arrived I got up to use the bathroom and out of no where the bar tender Alicia got in my face claiming that "I was the bitch from 3 days ago", whom she kicked out for having a fake ID. I was blindsided and in complete shock that she spoke to me in that manor. She was screaming and cussing me out as if I had done something wrong. She proceeded to force me to leave and even got the bouncer involved. Mind you, I was most definitely not the girl she was looking for. I respectfully told her that she had the wrong person, however she was persistent on me leaving. I was not even drinking; simply there to meet some friends before we went to another spot. I was the designated driver that night. Never have I ever been carded just to go in (therefore i did not think to bring it in with me) , including last night; and now I'm suddenly kicked out? Regardless, I left without question since there was no point in trying to argue in my favor. It was not worth my time trying to prove I was not this girl. After that went down, she had another bar tender come up to the table and ask for ID's when they had already showed them at the bar to get a drink. She was very kind and apologized on this woman's behalf knowing her behavior was ridiculous. When my friends went to close their tabs Alicia up-charged them $14 for two $4 beers. Now, I'm not normally the type to write a review, especially a poor one, but this was hands down the worst customer service I have ever seen. I do not understand how someone with such little people skills wants to/ is allowed to work in the service industry. I've been working in a bar for 3 years now and I would never think to talk that way to a customer, regardless of the situation/"issue" at hand. Tap Room, your management and staff need to get it together. I am 100% expecting an apology on behalf of your establishment and your workers. No one deserves to be treated in this way. Went to this place for the first time and it was pretty bad.... bartender took a couple minutes to get us a couple of waters, we ordered pizza and when our food came to our table they gave us a empty box, the pizza wasn't in the box! So we went over and showed the Waitress and she said "Your messing with me!" A nice small town bar with a better menu than you would expect since they don't technically have a kitchen. The bartender was the only person working on a Saturday afternoon but she did a great job keeping up with our drink orders as well as preparing our food. We ordered the large pizza, an olive burger and the chicken noodle soup. Everything was very good, especially the pizza, even the next day! I like Marine Tap Room, but there are better options in Muskegon. It's a Lakeshore staple, but it's often packed, the service is bar-only and a lot of groups try to make 50-member tables that make it hard to navigate to the Men's Room after 10. It's easier to go out the front door and walk around to the back door. It's a good place to have a beer or two after work down in Lakeside, and when the Harbor was still among us, I just loved to stop for a beer after a late night movie. Marine Tap has never been a place where I can get a whole group of friends to go to, however, I have ran into a lot of friends while drinking there. It's a good time, but it's awfully small, and the service is behind all the time because there's often just one lady behind the bar. read more

This is that good divey bar that every town has where the regulars turn and look when you enter. It's dark and dingey. Yet you're happy because the beers are cheap and they actually have some good food. The burgers and pizzas are goooood! & they used to have $3 Magic Hats (I don't think they have them anymore) but you can still get a Two Hearted! I remember the Oberon pitchers being over-priced because they probably don't get ordered very often or something, I don't know. But can't beat that location either! read more

One of the employees behind the bar (an older woman) "lost" or assisted in stealing my credit card which I had given them to start a tab. I tried to pay my bill, and proceeded to witness a disorganized circus that culminated a few halfhearted "I'm sorry"s followed by a rude "here's what you owe me" (yes: they "lost" my credit card and had the nerve to not even offer so much as a discount). She seemed very annoyed that I wanted anyone to look for my card, and that I insisted. At no point was any solution offered by her or by any of the employees at Marine Taproom, and my whole family had to waste an inexcusable portion of my last night in Muskegon before we finally suggested that they call us when/if the card is found. We gave them our phone number, which they tossed aside. Then, I had to spend another hour on the phone with my credit card company explaining the situation. I still haven't heard anything back from Marine Tap Room. In retrospect, I should have called the police. Avoid this establishment at all costs - it isn't worth risking your credit card, personal information, and valuable vacation time. read more

We made the mistake of drinking wine instead of beer or a mixed drink. As a result our bartender " Cindy" had to go down stares to get more wine for us and she made sure to let us know how much this irritated her. After that we decided to leave. Regardless of her rude behavior we wanted to tip her well because she did make a very nice personal pan pizza and was managing the entire full bar by herself. However , maybe we didn't tip well enough because my wallet went missing after we left the bar and hasn't been found since. I only had $22.00 and my id's in that wallet but I am fairly sure "Cindy"knows where it went and who had it. She was competent enough to know what just about every one there wanted to drink and kept track of bar tabs efficiently. So I am quite sure she is aware of what happened to my wallet.
