My husband tried the Cheap Sunglasses, a vodka cocktail with coconut and pineapple. He also had their Cinco De Mayo featured cocktail - Navarro's Old Fashioned. What an amazing experience that was a highlight of my vacation to Muskegon! The location can't be beat- we sat on the patio on a gorgeous sunny afternoon and watched the Lake Express ferry glide by right across the street. But the real draw is the housemade spirits and syrups that they use to create delicious craft cocktails. Our waiter explained their process and pointed out their gift shop, so I could purchase both a bottle and some swag to commemorate my visit. The gin and tonic was refreshing- and even better, on the happy hour menu! We also ordered a charcuterie board full of locally sourced meats and fantastic cheese. It was trivia night, which was a nice balance of entertainment even for those less trivia inclined at our table. I had the old fashioned flight and teriyaki beef and rice bowl, which were both super flavorful and a really good portion for the price. I'm not a big whiskey person but I do enjoy a good old fashioned. Everyone on here seems to rave about the leather and tobacco, but the brown butter and Kansas were our favorites. I've had Wonderland at Taste of Muskegon multiple times and the food was always really good so I think I might have had some lofty expectations when we went to the restaurant for the first time. Unfortunately everyone in our party felt like it was underwhelming. The food wasn't bad and you could tell it was all high quality and fresh but just felt lacking in flavor. When you combine that with the price I just didn't feel it was worth it, personally. I'm told the drinks here are really good, but we don't drink so I can't comment on that. On the plus side the location is great and the atmosphere inside is really well done. They've done a great job with all that and it's a very comfortable place to be. They also serve quite a few local brands which I like (Aldea Coffee, etc.) I think I'd try it again as it feels like they update the menu fairly regularly - but - so far my experience is that it's simply alright. Looking forward to giving it another shot down the road. read more

Stopped here a few weekends back during a bike ride through the area. The protein bowls are EXCELLENT - I had the teriyaki and my friend had the curry. The waitress was very polite and sweet. We sat out on the patio on a beautiful sunny day. The lemonade is out of this world, refreshing with a lil fizzzz. This may be a distillery but as a sober person I was pleasantly surprised with the food and nonalcoholic drink options. Overall great experience! My husband and I ordered the dill and horseradish bar cheese and it was wonderful. The flavors in the dip all came through without being intense and the difference in texture of the cucumber and chips were nice. Our friends got the caprese salad and Korean eggs and were pleased as well. We each got different house made drinks and all were very good. I opted for a blackberry lemonade. Our server asked if it was ok that it was blue due to the ball game that night and I agreed. Adding the purple of the blackberry made it even prettier along with the glitter in the glass as well... fun. It was pretty sweet and I like a little more tart in my lemonade but it was good. So happy for the beautiful weather this weekend so I could check out this new spot in the Muskegon Lakeshore District. The patio was open and I felt very safe with COVID-19 precautions, such as contact tracing and digital menus. I tried the Sweater Weather cocktail and it was delicious! My friends and I also shared the trout dip as a snack to accompany our drinks; it was fine, but nothing exciting. Service was very helpful when we arrived, but then dropped off. No one came to refill waters or ask if we wanted a second round. I probably would have ordered another drink if asked, but after a long time of empty glasses, we got tired and had to ask for our bill. The pros - good concept for the area offering crafts co tails and food fusions that are seldom found in the Muskegon area. Drinks and food menu had plenty of options and reasonable priced for modern fare. Atmosphere is chill and relaxing. The cons - food by title is not what you would expect if you have had the same in a more traditional setting. Was excited to see carne asada tacos - carne asada they were not. Carne asada is traditionally thin steak ( skirt steak) marinated and cut in strips or cubed, this was more of a pot roast consistency and was very dry. Little no to salsa on the taco so overall taco also dry. You have the option for street corn on the side and again a great attempt but nothing close to traditional street corn flavors. As stated earlier craft drinks are good but stay away from the premade drinks on draft, alcohol is non existent and the pretty much taste like really sugary Hawaiian Punch. Overall - I would recommend, it's a cool joint with a great atmosphere and the food options are not your everyday Muskegon fare - looking forward to trying it again and exploring more of the menu. read more

We started with a sampler flight of old fashions...a nice way to try all four. Needed a break so we then decided to sample the beef short rib nachos with some water. Yum! We saw others enjoying tacos-we'll bring a bigger appetite next time. Next up was the Gin & Tonic for husband...fresh, limey and tasty. Let me preface when I visited; I visited on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 6:30pm. There was only one other table and one person at the bar. The first thing I noticed was that the music played was inappropriate foul rap. I thought it was terrible, especially since my plus one soon arriving was 70+ years old, going to through radiation treatment after chemo, and I know she would not appreciate the music. I told my 19 year old male waiter, and he basically told me that I need to be more open and accepting of other peoples music choices. I will never be back. On Tuesday 8/29/23 we left the Deck. Had family in from out of town. We stopped at 9:22 The door was locked. There were a couple of people inside so I called. The door says you are open till 10 pm. And when I got my macaroni and cheese, it truly looked like a side order for a meal. There was meat on top, but truly such a small portion ($17) I asked the employee if that was truly the correct size. She was very kind and asked the kitchen, but apparently it was correct. I was shocked, I had already paid, so I guess I'll just deal with it. And then I asked if there was silverware in the bag, and told me they don't have any because they don't get a lot of to-go orders. We visited Wonderland Distilling on September 23,2023. Restaurant was not busy when we arrived at 6:00 pm. (Nor did the restaurant ever get busy) We were meeting family from Texas and unfortunately this restaurant did not provide much hospitality. Apparently the kitchen was getting remodeled so we had to listen to load noises coming from the various power tools being use. It was hard to talk and listen with this noise. We were surprised that there was no beer offerings on the menu. While I realize this is a distillery, not everyone likes hard liquor. We ordered a charcuterie board for starters which was good but sparse with crackers. For entrees we ordered Bluffton Street Corn Pizza. This was okay but could really only taste the crust. Also ordered Jackfruit BBQ Sandwich, which had no complaints. Also ordered Streetcorn Mac and Cheese which was very good. In addition we had an order of Korean Melt which the server failed to bring out. Not ordered were tacos which the server brought to the table and said these were a mistake but have them anyway. Since the orders did not come to the table all at once we thought it will come anytime. After it was obvious that the order was missing, we went up to the bar to inquire since the server did not check in after the meal was served. It still took another trip to the bar to inquire Since there was no communication. For a restaurant to be slow, less than 10 tables occupied, service and food was less than adequate.
