Excellent food, I had th4 best Shrimp Ceviche I've ever had, a vege fajitas and delicious passion fruit margarita. GREAT service and fun atmosphere! Walking distance from Coco Bongo. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Great place if you're looking for great seafood and a casual atmosphere! The waitstaff is very attentive and friendly, and are bilingual for any other tourists like us who can't get by on their Spanish. I had the battered fish tacos, which were good, and my wife had the grilled tuna, which was fantastic. They really know what they are doing with their seafood, so don't be shy about ordering the tuna more on the rare side than well-done. To top it off we had their horchata and tres leches cake (they call it their three milk cake but come on, we know what it's really called!) and they were fantastic. Price came in well under what we were expecting for such a large meal. Definitely recommend.

Had lunch here with my hubby and our doggo (yes, this place is dog friendly, unlike many others). Everything was amazing: the food, the ambiance, music). We had guacamole with fried shrimps and chicken fajitas. Best guacamole we've tried in Cancun and it's been over a week. And service was even better!!! Everything starting with the hostess, but the servers were amazing to the point that it felt like a high end restaurant. Our water was Ernesto and if you ever there, ask for that guy, cause he really turned a simple lunch into an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend!!!

I was surprised... Marinero's was great fun and the food was good for this touristy area. The staff were fantastic and accommodated my dairy free request by cooking the grilled seafood with oil instead of butter. We ordered: -Shrimp ceviche aquachile (with Serrano peppers) -Table side guacamole -Beef fajitas with corn tortillas -Seafood Molcajete Kids ordered the burger and pasta They have a small band that plays on the patio Thurs-Sun The servers, like Raul, ensured we had a great time and had everything we needed!

Yummy affordable seafood. We were referred here from our hotel and were not disappointed. The ambiance was really great, we even had a mariachi band perform while we enjoyed our dinner. The staff was very attentive and the food came so fast- I literally think within 10-15 minutes AND it was fresh. The drinks were also super yummy. If I had room for dessert I definitely would've tried it. Great place to grab some seafood in downtown Cancun.

    Expensive and low quantity

Total rip off for what you pay for. Dinner quantity is so less like a kid's meal and the quality is little above average. If you like sea food there are several places in the same hotel strip for a much better experience. For instance Isla Contoy has high quality sea food buffet every night for about the same price and 10 times better ambience and service. We have been eating in the hotel strip for past 7 days/nights and this would be my least favorite. Good luck!!

Ordered fried whole fish and shrimp tacos. Service was prompt and everyone pleasant. Fish dish was huge and fried perfectly. Tacos were delicious. Both were filling. Coconut water is served in actual coconut was good. Enjoyed the meal very much and will come again when back!

Special delivery of Jamaica drink by Raul.

After doing some retail therapy in the neighboring shops, we walked by Marinero's and Raul, the waiter, caught our attention by stating that the restaurant was one of the top 20 restaurants in Cancun. That peaked our curiosity so we gave it a try, and we were not disappointed. The chicken fajitas was perfectly seasoned and very tasty, the octopus with garlic butter was tender and moist, and the smoked marlin burrito was very flavorful. Raul gave us a heads up and advised that the marlin did not have the same texture as fish and tasted more like pork. It actually had more like a chicken texture and we were not disappointed. It was entertaining how Raul delivered the jamaica drink, balancing it on his head!

    Mango margarita...excellent

Hooray for the fruit and alcohol! During a late night stroll and headed to a club, we stumbled upon Marinero's. The atmosphere was festive, and I really needed a classic margarita. I ordered a large mango blended margarita. I watched the server make the margarita and noticed he included fresh mango, Jose Cuervo, and Triple sec. This margarita was very good, and the texture was bordering on whipped. It was not too sweet or sour...it was just right. This drink really got the party started. The only negative was the price, but I would go back for another.

The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious! The shrimp was fresh and the cake was really rich.

The grilled fish was delicious, so good that I got it twice. German, our waiter, was very hospitable and friendly and had great dinner recommendations. The food was delicious, everything we eat was so tasty, and we had such a good time that we returned for a second night! You should definitely come to this restaurant if you are visiting the area and hopefully you can get German who was a wonderful waiter. He went above and beyond and made sure we enjoyed our vacation.

I will say, right off the bat, this place is loud if you're hear during peak meal time. While the mariachi band was a nice added touch, it only exacerbated the already loud dining experience. If you're looking for a quiet, romantic meal, this isn't the place for you. But if you're ok speaking up a bit throughout the meal, do not pass on this restaurant. I opted to try things that I wouldn't easily find at a restaurant, even in Los Angeles where I live. That meant I tried an aztec corn soup for my appetizer (it tasted like liquid corn bread and I say that as a compliment) and then for my main I tried a Molcajete Mixto. It was absolutely amazing. The best way I could explain it is a Mexican bibimbap. Each of the 3 types of meats were grilled perfectly, the special cheese was mild, but had a really great texture to it. The bits of cactus were cooked to perfection where they were soft, but with just the right amount of bite to it. I gobbled that dish up so quickly and considered asking if I could have another one. If I wasn't already stuffed I absolutely would have. It was probably the single best dish I had the entire week I was in Cancun. I've now made it my quest to find somewhere near me where I can get something even remotely comparable. I also appreciate that they had 'kid cocktails.' All 3 of my boys felt so adult sipping on their special mocktails. Our wait staff was a tad out of sorts, they would often say they were going to grab something for us (i.e. a high chair) and then completely dissapear. In the case of the high chair we just ended up finding one ourselves. But I think this issue stemmed from them just being so busy and slightly overstaffed. When they were with us, they were nothing short of fantastic. Honestly, if I ever return to Cancun, I will absolutely be returning here. It was that good. It makes getting the all inclusive package worthwhile. I will, however, avoid going on mariachi night.

All-in-all it was worth the inconvenience. Very eclectic menu, warm atmosphere and outstanding service. I started withe the Mango-Tamarind: Lettuce, Indian walnut, mango, blueberries, Cotija cheese, mango-habanero dressing and tamarind billet. Unique and tasty. "Swiss Chicken Enchiladas" for the main course was not what you get at a local Mexican joint -- Four tortillas stuffed with chicken, bathed in a creamy tomatillo sauce with melted cheese and a base of refried black beans. This was a 5-star dish! I couldn't resist ordering a side dish though I didn't need to because the enchiladas were really enough, so I indulged myself with fries: these were not your run of the mill French fries. Porfirio's Potatoes -- French fries with chipotle pepper aioli, parmesan cheese and parsley. Finally, if you like ice cream I highly recommend that you order BOTH offerings: 1) "ICE CREAM TASTING" - Strawberry ice cream, chocolate ice cream from Metate, marzipan ice cream and vanilla from Papantla. Served with grated coconut, chocolate grain, M&M's, Oreo cookies and ice cream cones; and, 2) "PORFIRIO'S MOLECULAR ICE CREAM" - served with cajeta Worcestershire sauce in an ice cream cone. This dish is heaven sent with a 9.8/10 Grilled Octopus - Grilled perfectly, I can tell by the texture. The mash is superb, they used margarine instead of butter and I absolutely love the contrast from the traditional mash. 9.8/10 Mexican Rice - Its pretty good. It does have a nice seafoodish finish. The pepper was actually spicy. Nice and pleasant rice dish. 8/10 Charred Avocado Salad - Grilled avocado is a bit of a wash. It did make it look good on the plate. The dressing is a little weak. Needs a little more zip, some citrus or vinegar would give this salad some justice. Its a little uninspired 7/10 Service is impeccable and attentive and the atmosphere is lovely.

But, after debating and reading some reviews, we decided to call (at 7pm) and see if La Buena Barra had any open tables for 7:30. Since Cancún dinner culture generally ramps up after 8, we were in luck and headed to the restaurant. We were warmly greeted by the host team and escorted promptly to a great table outside, overlooking the lagoon and the last bits of sunset in the sky. The ambience of La Buena Barra is amazing, great lighting, ceiling fans to keep a light breeze going, and music that is loud enough to prevent you from hearing conversations at other tables, but still allowed us to talk just fine. Our servers Jonathan and Estefany were the sweetest and most attentive that we experienced during our trip! Excellent food recommendations, even advising against getting a second dessert (due to their size) instead of just letting us spend more money there. Absolutely worthy of 5 star service! Ok- the food: very good, probably some of the more distinct flavors we enjoyed in Cancun. Also a very unique selection of cocktails, delivered in all sorts of unique glasses. BUT truly the best thing we ate was the corn ice cream! It's molded ice cream that looks exactly like an ear of white corn with a ribbon of dulce de leche in the center- honestly the best ice cream I've ever eaten at a restaurant! Prices per person can easily exceed $1000 pesos here depending on what you get, but it's possible to enjoy the experience on a budget. We shared an appetizer (empanadas, highly recommend), shared a large entree (ribeye tacos, comes with 7), a cocktail, side of corn, and dessert- ended up being around $1200 plus tip.
