We had finally started to make our way back home after our trip to Alabama. After crossing the state line into Tennessee we desperately needed to pull off for relief. I will say that Tennessee has some of the most beautiful rest stops along the highways than any other state I have been to. This location felt more like a state park than a roadside stop only accessible via an exit off the highway. A multitude of picnic areas, paths to walk, and a pavilion that looked more whimsical than it should have been for the purpose it served. If the picnic area by the pavilion doesn't tickle your fancy, and I'll touch on this a bit later, there is another picnic area on the other side of the parking lot, up some stairs, that overlooks the highway. Some tables are covered and other are out in the open. If you can stand the noise of the constant traffic from the highway, you are good to go. But the picnic area around the pavilion gives some of the most breathtaking views I have ever seen at a rest stop. This overlooks the Tennessee River and Rankin Cove. Beautiful views and made you kind of want to camp out here. Why not, you got facilities to use and a few pavilions to take cover if the weather turns. But the views, my god were they beautiful. Kind of spoils other rest stops for you later on down the road...pun intended.

Stopped here on a quick trip from TN to WI. It came up on Google with great reviews and decided to drive later into the night to reach this rest stop. There were plenty of parking spots and we didn't have trouble finding parking pulling a small trailer. It appeared many cars were using as a place to catch some sleep before hitting the road again just as we were... and in the morning you can wake up to lake views without an expensive hotel price. The bathrooms were clean and refreshed in the early morning. I would definitely recommend on your next road trip!

So, this rest area gets 3 stars solely for the view. I've stopped here a couple time now and I just don't feel safe here. The bathrooms are old and in dire need for an upgrade. If you are traveling alone, just be cautious. The last time I stopped here there was a truck full of men hovering around when I came out of the bathroom and luckily another car pulled up, but I felt scared for my safety. The other side of the road where the welcome center is tends to be a little more busy and also has a great view.

Located between Nashville and Chattanooga, this rest area gets five stars if only for the scenery! This rest area serves east bound traffic on an island where the highway crosses the Tennessee River. There is also a welcome center across the highway for westbound traffic. The facility itself is in excellent condition. Modern and clean with no litter. There is ample parking and some of the spots might have some shade depending on the time of day. And of course, there's the wonderful view of the water from here. This is a lovely spot for a rest and it's unfortunate that I had to get to Atlanta or I might have stayed longer. I have not stopped at a rest area in years. This one was great. Clean and peaceful. Kudos to whomever is caring for this place.

The guy there said only 15 minutes are we able to stay on the premises like what? There was no sign indicating that statement. Very rude. He said if we didn't get on our mary way he would call the police. Also the women worker there was smoking right in front of the "No Smoking" sign like what type of example is this given to us. Very good veiw but terrible service provided .

The price was fantastic and which allowed us to buy more. The people that were working, the registers were kind, friendly, and patient. The ice was a great deal, and the bathrooms were in great shape as well. Highly recommend a stop if you're looking for some thing affordable, nice, one stop shop. Also, there's a dog park so if you have a little four-legged friends with you, they can walk around in this nice gated area which is perfect, especially on the run

A very convenient stop by Hillsboro, TN Love's Travel Stops…read morewas founded in 1964 by Tom and Judy Love in Watonga, Oklahoma. They started with a single leased gas station and grew into a major chain of travel centers, opening their first interstate location in 1981. Today, Love's operates more than 600 locations across 42 states They are concentrated mainly in the Central and Southern US (especially Texas, Oklahoma, the Midwest, and Southeast). I have stopped at several of these stations in my travels. They are consistent in being fairly clean and well stocked with pleasant staff. This location followed the same attributes. It was right off the interstate. So it was easy-on/easy-off There were gas pumps under shade and a store with parking in front. For travellers with dogs, they have a fenced-in area for dogs next to the pumps. They share the building with Hardees in case you want to get a fast food meal and they have extra parking to the side. The pumps and store were clean although it was busy. The bathrooms were reasonably clean and the staff was pleasant. Overall, a good place to stop for a bathroom break or to get a snack or gas.

GREAT STOP There are…read moresome rules to follow when on a road trip especially with pit stops. Is the location easy to get to off and back onto the highway? Does it have cheap gas? Does it have snacks? Does it have a bathroom? These are the essential fundamentals of every good stop. I will tell you that this location covers all of those important bases. We were heading towards Chattanooga and I saw the gas advertised for $2.32 which was a great price. I'm glad I stopped because every gas station after that was almost 20 cents higher. I was really happy with the price we got for the gas, in fact it was the cheapest gas we got since starting in Chicago. This place is right off of the Highway which makes for a super fast pit stop. I don't want to drive more then a mile off of the exit because that just adds a ton of time to the drive especially with stop lights. While I was filling up the gas there was a giant poster advertising "Hand Rolled Burritos"! What? Come on! The girls went in first to the bathroom and reported back to me that they didn't see any hand rolling going on. What? Could the poster be all lies? When I went in to use the bathroom I saw about 6 burritos wrapped and sitting in the warmer, so they were ready to grab and go but no live hand rolling was seen. I did see one of the cook's in the Speedy Cafe actually making a pizza by hand. I thought to myself that was much better then a frozen microwave pizza. I didn't order any food because I typically don't order any of that stuff in a gas station. I've been tempted by the roller Dogs at many gas stations but I've held strong to not order them. This place has a giant Beer Cave which is literally cool but not when you're driving. So if your are local then stop in and grab your drink here. I was impressed by the soda machine. I don't drink pop anymore but was amazed with the sizes of the cups. I saw a giant 54 ouncer ready to be filled with soda or a slurpee. That's a lot of liquid. If I drank that if be stopping at the next rest area up the road. I will say that the Men's bathroom did have the smell of a urine filled subway station. I'd recommend a bleach dousing in here. Anyone listening on staff. I'd highly recommend you treat this room as a "Dateline" episode where you're trying to cover up a crime. This place is a great stop for some cheap gas. You'll be off and on the highway in no time at all. I love it when a plan comes together.
