I really needed to stretch out and move around. Couldn't really rest well after two hours. I woke up because it was cold many times so I ran the engine a few times to warm up. And noticed the fog was starting to flurry. And it was on the edge of 31°. That was all the incentive I needed to get back on the road. I drove two more hours where it was off the mountain area and 40°, warmer to the south. The rest area was clean and I always try to use them even without the pit stop just to get out and stretch using the car curb for leg/calf stretches and get some water. 37/2024

Yes, this rest area allows overnight parking. Not camping, parking. You're here to rest and get some sleep before continuing onwards so do that. Other than a few trucks idling in the lot and a couple who seem to think it's fair to use their engine to break, it was a quiet night. Buc-ee's is more than a gas station... it's an experience! This one sits a little past halfway on the Nashville-to-Atlanta drive, so a lot of us hit it often, and that's my main gripe: it is way, way too crowded. Almost every visit, even off-peak, there's traffic just getting off the highway and into the lot. They don't manage it well for a lot this size, and it always feels like you're one distracted driver away from a fender bender. Parking is tough, sometimes requiring circling around or parking far away. I come here mostly for the clean bathrooms, so having to wait in line for the women's restroom on two recent visits felt outrageous given there must be fifty stalls in there. Inside, weird and tasty snacks galore. Everyone says get the brisket and jerky, but insiders know the breakfast burritos are the true star, fresh-made flour tortillas and all. The highlight of my last stop was dill pickle sour straws, handed out as samples, excellent. The sugar-roasted candied pecans look tempting but are rarely actually fresh and warm at this location, which is frustrating. Then there's a warehouse-worth of home goods, clothing, house supplies, and anything you can print a Bucc-ee on. The t-shirts are my favorite, absurdly soft, my fave for sleeping in. This spot is ultimately still a classic Buc-ee's experience. But the crowds and the traffic and the general hassle make me think twice about stopping. Gas here is cheap, though not the cheapest on the route.

They staff was super friendly and helpful and facility was nice and clean. I'm just excited to have made it to Alabama, although my preferred way of traveling is flying. I will say that you miss out on seeing a lot when you're in the air :). The rest stop does offer a few snack and drinks, I believe in a separate little area. Places to picnic and walk your fur babies. There is plenty of parking for various types of ground transportation.

The restrooms were very clean - with touch-less faucets, and manually operated soap dispensers and you have a better chance of seeing GOD than you do getting water at a temperature better than lukewarm, thankfully we all carry sanitizer with us nowadays. I didn't not see any security or custodians working, but I wasn't scared or disgusted, this rest area is maintained responsibly. I'm sure they were on a break or something, yeah I'm sure that was the case. It was very early morning when I stopped in and found no humans present on the grounds and the multiple vehicles parked across the lot seemed to be the perfect venue for getting a few winks. It's a peaceful place at this hour and I suspect most are taking cat naps before pressing on to their destinations. I found myself yawning as well but not to the point I required an extended break. heading back after a busy day out and about near cleveland tennessee to put some miles on the…read moremazda. actually got the track times all wrong and very nearly missed out entirely so I finding myself here about midday turned out to be the highlight of that week's adventure. lots of tress and green grass for relaxing after too many miles on the road in not enough time. no picnic path around back but this is the northern south and things are different here. still, the grounds are well kept and welcoming like I like 'em plus a pretty direct route into and out of the lots (which some people hate but I'm a fan) there's the customary tourism brochures and a couple information boards for preoccupation while waiting for the rest of your troop plus snacks and beverages if you need 'em.
