To add to Tony's comments from 10 years ago, I have played Riverside since I was a kid and sadly it…read morehasn't improved. While the clubhouse is nice, the burgers good, and the staff friendly, the course itself is at best a raggedy, neglected goat ranch. So it's a 'good value' only in the sense that you're not paying much for a crummy course. Fairways are mainly low-cut weeds and crabgrass, while the greens are low-cut dead weeds and lumpy, hardpacked dirt and sand. The course is in the hood, and the sound of not-too-distant gunfire not uncommon. If you're intent on going, watch yourself and don't leave valuables in your car. If you have a carry permit, carry. Riverside is bordered on the east by a noisy expressway, on the north by a gravel pit, and the water Tony mentions to the west is not the Mississippi River, but McKellar Lake - the smelly, highly polluted, garbage-filled Memphis industrial harbor. There are prehistoric remnants of cart paths between #1 and #2, between #4 and #5, and between #5 and #6. The actual course layout, while short, makes a primitive but fun track with many deep ravines, hills, thick woods, overgrown areas, and OB to the right on 7 of the 9 holes. Most holes are par 4, with one par 3 and one par 5. Also, plenty (as in plenty) of snakes, so don't go poking around in the rough or down in the ravines - even though you see brand new golf balls down there. Insects of every description (mainly mosquitos, flies, gnats, ticks) are plentiful. In short, this course and it's ancient layout could be a gem if the city spent some money on it, maintained it, and improved security. Don't mean to be overly-critical, but out-of-towners and other neophytes need to know what they're getting into. If you're looking for a decent municipal course in Memphis, go to Overton Park GC on Poplar Ave or Galloway GC on Walnut Grove Rd. And watch yourself.

Really a great value. It only has nine holes. But for $14 with cart. Wow. It's close to Downtown…read moreand pretty well maintained. Plus you can actually see the river. A quick review of the course is it's a little hilly. There is no sand or water. The first 6 greens seem to be a Bermuda hybrid which makes it a little difficult to putt. And there isn't a cart path. So don't let these things surprise you. Another neat feature of this course is they have foot golf. Three days a week they close the golf course for soccer golf. It's 18 holes and you actually kick soccer balls from a tee box into 50 gallon cans they have sunk into the ground. Nice alternative for the younger crowd who don't want to play golf. This really is a great option for a quick round of golf. Make sure you check with the course for tee times before you go. It's regular golf 4 days and foot golf the other three. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did. Have fun and hit them straight.

For decades, as I drove down I-55 on my trec from St. Louis to Helena, Arkansas, I saw what I…read morethought was a small, probably par three practice course in Marion, AR. With my peripheral vision I could see 2-3 holes with water hazards that never failed to make me say, "I'm going to check that place out." Finally, on memorial day 2026 I kept that promise and was I surprised! Brownstone is far from "a small, probably par three practice course". It is an eighteen-hole, challenging course that tests one's skill and allows players to use every club in their arsenal. The fairways and greens are well laid out and impeccably maintained. I arrived about fifteen minutes late for my tee time because of some construction in Memphis as I drove to the course from Tunica, MS. When I called, the woman in the pro shop was very nice and assured me that it would be ok if I was a bit late. As it turned out, the course wasn't crowded with golfers but there was a lot of activity at the facility from a family reunion taking place there. I paid my fee which I thought, pre-round, was reasonable. Post-round I felt that a slightly higher greens fee would have been justified. Wait. Did I just say I should have been charged more? Yes I did, and yes, I meant it. This is an outstanding course, and I have paid more for less many times in many places. I don't get to play very often but I long ago recognized that the staff has a great impact on players' club experience. The staff at Brownstone is A#1. To a person they were friendly, personable, and helpful. They more than made up for all the balls I left in the water hazards.

What a beautiful and fancy hotel. We had the pleasure of staying here for 4 days and 3 nights. This…read moreplace is absolutely amazing and classy. We opted to upgrade to the Club Level Rooms on the 12th floor. The 12th floor is very exclusive. There is a private lounge and dining area on this 12th floor. There is a breakfast served daily and also an appetizer/charcuterie reception daily in the Club Level. It is very much worth the upgrade. The convention spaces at this wonderful hotel are very spacious. The history of the hotel and its "Peabody Ducks" are the show stoppers. Everyday there is a "Duck Parade/March" in which the Duckmaster and retrieves the ducks at 11a from their duck sanctuary on the top floor of the hotel. He brings them down the elevator to the lobby and they march on the red carpet into the famous and ornate Peabody Fountain. Then, at 5p the Duckmaster comes to retrieve them and does another "Duck March" back to the elevator to take back up to the duck sanctuary. People travel from all over the world to witness and participate in this ceremony. They have honorary duck Masters, people who have waited years, who practice the ceremony with the Peabody Ducks and Duckmaster. Everything was so well appointed and very ornate. There is also a history of the hotel that plays on the video in each room. If you have an opportunity in your lifetime to stay at this hotel and enjoy the amenities, I highly recommend it. There is also a pool and an athletic club on the lower level. I didn't have a chance to get to that area, but that was one of my goals so I have to save that for the next time I visit. Overall, the Club level King Room, the Club Level, and everything about our stay was 5-Star. The Bell Desk has Jeffrey who was outstanding at getting our bags upstairs to our room. The hotel registration process was seamless with Diamond handling all of our details and upgrade to a Club Level Room. Diamond's customer service was EXCELLENT and she made me feel welcome and valued as a hotel guest. Charles, we assume he is the lead Concierge, at the Valet area was professional and he made things happen for all of the guests. We are so impressed.

2.5*, but rounding up because I didn't actually bring up all the concerns while there to see how…read morethey could help. First, we stayed here because Arkansas was on the bucket list to visit and we were on a road trip. Thus, we couldn't stay in Memphis and we had Hilton points to use up by a certain time. Otherwise, it's fine for 1 night, but don't stay 4 nights like we did. Second, here's a list of the good, bad, and ugly... Good: Pooling heated, towels in the room, fairly empty so easy to use. They have a gym too, with everything working. Breakfast was on par for the brand, and I liked the yogurt machine. Their refillable water station was also convenient. Bad: Digital key for room stopped working after day 1 and they had no idea how to fix it. Physical key also stopped working after day 2 and we had to go reset them. Annoying and inconvient. They ran out of coffee one day, fine since I don't drink it, but annoying for some. Their tea selections were all caffeine, nothing for bedtime. They ran out of lids one day too, which is dangerous when trying to bring a hot beverage to your room. If you forget anything, you'll have to pay for it, so pack your toothpaste! Finally, their location on the highway is fine for going to Memphis, but super inconvient for getting back to the hotel or trying to visit the casino across the street since the service road is one way. Not their fault, but just FYI. The Ugly: Their house cleaning was non-existent. Free sticker on the bathroom mirror said every other day. Fine by me. Except they didn't come. So we called to ask and then had to go down ourselves to get towels that second night. Again on day 3, no one came. And again on day 4, no one came. The trash got a little icky and a giant pile of towels stacked up. Beds were not made. But that was still not the worst thing. The worst was the mold in the shower, around the fire sprinkler (maybe dirty?), and the ac unit. Which we had to run. So, if you really need a cheaper place with free parking (assuming they aren't too busy, it's a small lot) and don't need to eat when you stop (nothing much nearby) and you are just staying one night, it might be ok. But I was very disappointed in the hotel and it has tainted the brand for me. Gold status for Hilton doesn't matter if they don't make sure the service is decent and the rooms are good.

The Deviled Eggs and Crispy Gulf Oysters were good, but be mindful that the bacon marmalade is sweet if that's not how you want your deviled eggs. I loved the Flight of Salad - more than a small plate portion of 3 salads: Harvest Salad, Iceberg Wedge, and Watermelon Feta. I'm normally don't choose feta on dishes but it was mild (not salty) and a perfect refreshing combo with the watermelon, olive oil, and add fresh cracked pepper. Your palate could get confused with the different cuisines and flavor profiles, but it's a fun adventure and I would try again!

Unique Girl Dinner concept, why choose one, when you can sample all 3+ in a FLIGHT :D…read more So that's just what this girl did. SOUP FLIGHT $14: Lobster bisque, She Crab (immature Blue female crab incl roe typically though this has no bright orange color) and Gumbo with rice. Portions are about a cup each and with the moreish sweet yeasty soft rolls, can easily fill you so pace and share! Gumbo was overly salty so gave that to my BILaw. ENTREE FLIGHT $16 Quail+$19 Redfish+$28 Elk Tenderloin When customizing your flight as I did the small plate price applies. Quail alone was filling, deboned in middle breast and thigh, as it's sweet spiced Creole stuffed and you get mini legs and wings to gnaw on. Like mini Thanksgiving. Took half home and actually ate on 'Flight' Home lol, it was just as tasty and far better than the pretzels haha! LA Redfish had a nice buttery panfried crusted and moist inside about 4oz with southern cheesy ham risotto topped with crab meuniere/browned butter. Elk Tenderloin medium rare as ordered, again great char, was naturally lean and tender, very tasty. A first for me, I would order over a regular steak tenderloin and only 1/2 fat! Killer deal :) Mac with asparagus spear was a tasty pairing. When server tells you 2-3oz Flight servings, in your mind it seems small but these were generous portions and easily fill you. I would share this after a salad or soup next time ;) Older menus point to the even more exotic ostrich, and Kangaroo loin, wow! But with Boar, Bison, Quail, Flounder, and Elk as current options, you can definitely dance around your less traveled palate. Definitely would return next time in Memphis and hunt down those exotics! Downed the hatch with a VINO Bel Glos FLIGHT Pinot Noir $18 spans the 3 premier cool climate CA AVAs-- Southern (Santa Maria Clark & Telephone) Central (Santa Lucia Balade) and Northern (Russian River Dairyman) liked this best but all deep rubys, cherry plum, some vanilla and spice. Very enjoyable flight. A shot of straight Sazerac Rye $10 and $4 Sweet Tea rounded off the table. Of course the guys went full hog entree, Shrimp & Grits $32 was the weakest of the plates as the shrimp were peeled and boiled? vs a more flavorful char & flavor or a spiced shell-on shrimp. Hubby was disappointed preferring my home made NoLo version. BIL's Veal Scalloppini $30 lemon caper butter and parm orzo, veggies really pleased him. It was more ordinary for my palate. All so stuffed thus passed on dessert but BIL took Key Lime Pie to go $7.50 reporting it was great next day. Server was attentive and friendly. Could use brushing up on menu, I had to look up the She Crab and Wine regions after asking. Waiting for a giant Fresh Pepper grind is a pain when it got busy, eventually brought us small grinder set to us. All the prices are very reasonable for the quality, white tablecloth ambience, elegant dining room with giant chandelier and darker woods while well lit with an upstairs tabled loft (although drab bathrooms could use some sprucing) downtown, AND importantly Valet parking, makes dining here such a breeze. Sidewalk patio for fair weather days too. Take FLIGHT and dine here, it'll make your girls giddy, Imma still flying high on my dining memories.
