Wine cellar downstairs is great for special events. The service is phenomenal and liked the concept of flights of food or having the flexibility to mix and match small or large plates of each dish. The Deviled Eggs and Crispy Gulf Oysters were good, but be mindful that the bacon marmalade is sweet if that's not how you want your deviled eggs. I loved the Flight of Salad - more than a small plate portion of 3 salads: Harvest Salad, Iceberg Wedge, and Watermelon Feta. I'm normally don't choose feta on dishes but it was mild (not salty) and a perfect refreshing combo with the watermelon, olive oil, and add fresh cracked pepper. SOUP FLIGHT $14: Lobster bisque, She Crab (immature Blue female crab incl roe typically though this has no bright orange color) and Gumbo with rice. Portions are about a cup each and with the moreish sweet yeasty soft rolls, can easily fill you so pace and share! Gumbo was overly salty so gave that to my BILaw. ENTREE FLIGHT $16 Quail+$19 Redfish+$28 Elk Tenderloin When customizing your flight as I did the small plate price applies. Quail alone was filling, deboned in middle breast and thigh, as it's sweet spiced Creole stuffed and you get mini legs and wings to gnaw on. Like mini Thanksgiving. Took half home and actually ate on 'Flight' Home lol, it was just as tasty and far better than the pretzels haha! LA Redfish had a nice buttery panfried crusted and moist inside about 4oz with southern cheesy ham risotto topped with crab meuniere/browned butter. Elk Tenderloin medium rare as ordered, again great char, was naturally lean and tender, very tasty. A first for me, I would order over a regular steak tenderloin and only 1/2 fat! Killer deal :) Mac with asparagus spear was a tasty pairing. When server tells you 2-3oz Flight servings, in your mind it seems small but these were generous portions and easily fill you. I would share this after a salad or soup next time ;) Older menus point to the even more exotic ostrich, and Kangaroo loin, wow! But with Boar, Bison, Quail, Flounder, and Elk as current options, you can definitely dance around your less traveled palate. Definitely would return next time in Memphis and hunt down those exotics! Could use brushing up on menu, I had to look up the She Crab and Wine regions after asking. Waiting for a giant Fresh Pepper grind is a pain when it got busy, eventually brought us small grinder set to us. We had the bone marrow--delicious with an herb crust and the seafood flight appetizer, all excellent but the bbq shrimp was intoxicating! Exactly what bbq shrimp should be with a rich sauce, maybe with cognac added? Not sure, but I'm going on a treasure hunt for a recipe! The bubbles flight was fun--great start! Salad flight was a crisp palate refresher for the next two flights of red meat and fish! We loved the lobster ravioli and the Boursin filet, but the lobster Benedict will be in our dreams! The dessert flight was good with the crème Brûlée--avoid the peach cobbler since peaches are not yet in season! The lighting is perfect! This place is prefect for a date. double date, celebrations, or just because. Starting with the spicy margarita, it's delish and ask for fresh jalapeño in it if you're a little spicy like me ;) We had the seafood flight appetizer... the ravioli was so creamy and yummy, the crab cake was good and the bbq shrimp also tasty. Now I am NOT a fan of deviled eggs, but this was THE BEST version I've ever tasted. The bacon marmalade that they topped it with is just *** definitely try an order! I honestly wanted my own! That's how good they were! From there was the soup flight: lobster bisque, white cheddar poblano, and gumbo. I have a hard time deciding which was my favorite! The Surf and turf flight (chef's menu) was also a hit! The lobster meat was perfection, the meat was tasty and there was this sweet pepper marmalade that was *chefs kiss* The dessert was good. By this time, I'm stuffed so, I only had a few bites here and there. The blueberry pastry was tasty, crème brûlée is decent. The peanut butter pie was ok, I'd personally like a sweeter peanut butter like jiffy. The blondie was probably my favorite of the desserts I tried. We always come and eat at Flight when we're in town for my daughter's St. Jude checkups. Tonight was as perfect as always. The atmosphere is surprisingly intimate for such a large venue, the acoustics are excellent. The food is amazing. The seared duck with sweet potato casserole was our favorite. Flight Restaurant and Wine Bar had been on my list for a while, so we finally ventured out for a good time. Flight is featured on OpenTable's Top 100 Restaurants list, thanks to its unique "flight" dining concept. I recommend making a reservation in advance, either by phone or through OpenTable. The restaurant offers complimentary valet service, though there is also plenty of street parking available (it can get busy on weekends). Upon entering, the hostess stand is on the left. The bar is small but inviting, with about ~8 seats (from what I recall). The main-floor dining area tends to accommodate friends and business groups, while the second floor offers a more private setting ideal for date nights. The overall ambiance is relaxed and unpretentious. FOOD: 1. Deviled Eggs and Crispy Oysters (5/5): This was delicious. The dish comes with four pieces, perfect for sharing between two people. The crispy cornmeal-fried oyster complemented, rather than overshadowed, the deviled egg. 2. Beef Wellingtons (3/5): Four pieces, each resembling a small puff filled with a quarter-sized portion of beef. The standout element was the brandy cream sauce. 3. Seafood Flight (Shrimp and Grits, Lobster/Crab Benedict, Diver Sea Scallop): *Shrimp and Grits (3/5): Decent, but didn't stand out. *Lobster/Crab Benedict (4/5): My favorite of the three. The perfectly poached egg, bacon hollandaise, and soft cheddar biscuit were excellent. *Diver Sea Scallop (4/5): I enjoyed it overall, though the sauce became overly sweet over time due to the brown sugar bacon and maple. It features one scallop served with flavorful butternut squash. 4. Steak Flight (Boursin Filet, Wagyu, Elk Chop): *Elk Chop (5/5): A standout. The truffle white cheddar macaroni was excellent, and the Kahlua glaze paired beautifully with the perfectly cooked elk. 5. Chef Dessert Flight (Blueberry Cobbler, S'mores, White Chocolate Caramel Blondie): *S'mores (4/5): Rich and chocolate-forward, but the melted marshmallow tied everything together nicely. First time dining at flight for my best friend's graduation dinner. First impression, it's a small restaurant. We had a reservation for 2 and they sat us at the smallest table right at the entrance. Now again it's small in there and with it being "cold" it was uncomfortable. However, the food the really good. Our waiter was really nice, knowledgeable of the menu and attentive. Flight Restaurant & Wine Bar in Memphis is easily one of my favorite places in the city, and this last visit just reminded me why. I've been several times, but this night was special because we brought two friends who had never been before, and everything, from the service to the food, was spot on. We ordered a ton of different dishes and honestly, they were solid across the board. We started with the Escargot with mushroom caps, gremolata, and garlic butter, which was rich and garlicky. The Chargrilled Octopus with strawberries and basil mousse ended up being my favorite dish of the night. The octopus was tender, perfectly charred, and full of flavor. The only thing I didn't love was the basil mousse, not that it was bad, it just wasn't my thing. The octopus itself more than made up for it. Both salads were great. The Iceberg Wedge had everything you want in a wedge--crisp lettuce, lots of Roquefort blue cheese, bacon, red onion, grape tomatoes, and a bold blue cheese dressing. The Strawberry Caprese with marinated mozzarella, basil, and aged balsamic was fresh, bright, and a fun twist on the classic. For mains, we really went all in: I had the fish flight: Redfish with jambalaya and crab meunière - perfectly cooked fish with a flavorful, slightly spicy jambalaya that felt very New Orleans. Chilean sea bass with Parmesan risotto and beurre monté - rich, creamy, and cooked beautifully. Stuffed flounder with lobster, crab, rock shrimp, and chorizo butter - super indulgent and loaded with seafood. Friend had the steak flight Boursin-stuffed filet with potato purée and red wine bordelaise - tender steak with a cheesy center and smooth potatoes; total comfort food. Elk tenderloin with truffle white cheddar macaroni, mushrooms, and Kahlúa glaze - unique and surprisingly tender; the truffle mac was a big hit at the table. Wagyu tenderloin with grilled zucchini and chimichurri - rich, buttery beef balanced by the brightness of the chimichurri. Wife made her own flight: Diver sea scallop with béchamel, jumbo lump crab, hollandaise, and toasted breadcrumbs - decadent but not too heavy, with a perfectly seared scallop. Wild boar tenderloin with loaded mashed potatoes and wild berry compote - great sweet-and-savory combo and a good option if you like game. Veal scallopini with crispy veal cutlets, Parmesan orzo, grilled vegetables, and lemon-caper butter - crispy, tangy, and really well balanced. Everything came out at the right temperature and cooked the way it should be. The sides felt just as intentional as the main dishes, not like an afterthought. Our friends were genuinely blown away, not just by how good everything tasted, but by how fun the "flight" style is. Being able to try so many different things in one meal really makes the experience. Service was attentive without hovering, and the staff knew the menu and wine list well, which helped a lot with ordering that many dishes to share. Flight is still a must-visit in Memphis for me. The menu is creative, the execution is consistent, and it's an ideal place to take people you want to impress. Our server, Jordan, was prompt, helpful, and explained how to build your custom flights. All of the food was exceptional. We enjoyed being able to customize each element. On New Year's Day we were greeted promptly by valet and warmly at reception. We were seated in the wine cellar, which was a unique experience in and of itself; we were told it was an old speak easy, and it definitely fit the bill. It was much quieter than the main dining room, though it had some stairs (and you had to go outside to get to it), so it might not be a good fit for some. Service was impeccable from start to finish. Upon learning it was our anniversary, we were offered complimentary champagne. We started off with the Ocean Flight. The crab cake turned out to be the night's favorite for both of us and probably the best crab cake of my life. The lobster ravioli was also delicious with a rich sauce accompanying it. The BBQ shrimp, however, was not good. We left it nearly untouched as it had a unique, metallic tasty that I can't describe, other than to say we were both an immediate "absolutely not" at the first bite. For dinner, I enjoyed the fish flight. I should note the selections were different than those posted on the online menu and included salmon, sea bass and grouper. Each was delicious, but the pistachio encrusted sea bass was the overall favorite. Hubs had the steak flight, with selections also differing from the menu. His elk tenderloin was superb(!), as was the accompanying truffle mac 'n cheese, but the wagyu tenderloin left a lot to be desired; it was grossly undercooked, even for wagyu, (barely rare) and fatty--not marbled, as wagyu is intended to be, more like roast beef. That was disappointing as my husband loves Wagyu and it was the selling point for the flight. I love that they make recommendations for the accompanying wine flights, but we selected something different based on our own preferences. We paired the fish flight with the crème de la crème wine flight and paired the steak flight with wonders of the world wine flight. Despite not eating the shrimp of wagyu, we had plenty of food and felt the price was appropriate for the dinner--around $250, including gratuity, given the service, atmosphere and quality of the food. read more

It comes with a note card to describe the wine you are trying. So cute. We were greeted with a warm smile upon entering and seated upstairs which I liked. We started with the bone marrow and deviled eggs. I WILL DREAM OF THESE DEVILED EGGS FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE! Compliments to the chef for creating such a magical dish. The textures of the soft egg w/ fried oyster on top, mixed with the sweet and salty flavors from the bacon jam...seriously amazing. The bone marrow was good but def wasn't enough to top the bread given. Highly suggest giving smaller bread if the bone marrow won't be larger/more. We decided to make our own flight. I ordered Elk, Duck, and Salmon. The duck was not crispy (how it should be/described on the menu to be prepared) and the biggest let down for me! Duck is by far my favorite protein and what I choose if it is on a tasting menu. Maleek (outstanding waiter) offered to take it back, but I said it was okay. The Elk is very lean but cooked perfect. It's not my favorite due to how lean it is but no fault to the Flight. I loved trying a new protein! The truffle mac was a bit watery but good. The salmon was actually very good! My boss ordered wagyu, crab benedict, and lamb. She wasn't wowed with her wagyu but was surprised at how delish the crab was! The lamb was good. We were stuffed so we didn't order dessert, but we were surprised with a birthday creme brulee which was delicious! Service: our waiter Maleek was AMAZING. Even with the duck issue etc he took the information with a big bright smile and offered to fix it with no issue. Flight is very lucky to have him on the team! Small things I noticed that aren't a big deal at all but are details I've experienced at Michelin rated restaurants...1) they don't seem to enforce any type of dress code. Seriously allowing a graphic t-shirt in here doesn't make sense. I even saw some women wearing some scandalous dresses. 2) My silverware wasn't taken, and I had to ask for new silverware for the next course. 3) The crumbs on the table weren't taken off before the next dishes came out (typically comes over with a scraper to take off excess). I want to stress these are MINOR things that I feel could truly take them to a Michelin level and I still enjoyed my dinner here. This all being said as a New Yorker with somewhat high expectations while 'fine dining'. Thank you for having us and I recommend coming here when in the Memphis area! What a wonderful experience. We didn't have a reservation and they were able to squeeze us in. Reservations definitely suggested but we were here on a spur of the moment trip. I had a flight of salad, my husband had escargot (a special). Then we each only had two of the small plate entrees rather than a flight of 3. He had the sea bass and the veal (his fav of the two). I had the filet and the Benedict both were good. And we shared two desserts. The white chocolate blonde and lava cake with peppermint gelato which was the star of the show. OMG...I had no idea what the name of this restaurant meant until the server explained it. You can pick a flight of main entrees, a flight of cocktails, & a flight of desserts. No more trouble deciding what you want, you can pick 3 of anything for each course. We tried the deviled eggs & beef Wellington appetizers which were both excellent! I picked the Lobster and Crab Benedict, Boursin Stuffed Filet and the Chilean Sea Bass for my entrees. All were excellent and very filling. You can also order small plates and full plates. So I asked my wife, what would you give Flight after we had dinner there? Would you give it five stars, and she says, "oh my gosh yes." Do get a reservation? This is a busy establishment. We had a reservation. We showed up early and thought we might get sat early. We had no such luck. We were forced (please know that we did not put up a fight) to sit at the bar where I had my first flight, a tasty sampling of three different bourbons. My wife had an old-fashioned. The service at the bar was very friendly, and we enjoyed the company of the bartender. It was only after we looked at the menu when we got sat that we understood the concept of the flights that were being offered. The waitress was very helpful as she helped us to understand that we could choose different courses for each part of the meal. So, we had a flight of salads, this was three different small portions of different salads with just enough for us to enjoy a forkful or two prior to our flight of entrées. We then shared a flight of entrées, two fish selections and a beef steak. They had suggestions, but they allowed you to choose other options, which we did. As you might suspect, if you know us, we of course, had a flight of desserts. Everything, and I mean everything tasted fantastic. There would need to be very little cajoling to get me to go back to this fine establishment, even on a Friday night. My review so far has not mentioned how nice the establishment looked, how maintained it was, how cozy it was without being too close. Beyond that, the service was excellent, both at the bar, and at the table. This was exemplified by the fact that our entrée must've been ready before our server was, and so one of the chefs brought our dinner out to us. So it was hot and delicious. Really enjoyed my dinner here. Service from Garrett was wonderful. We were able to sit downstairs in the "cellar" which was really neat. The concept of the restaurant was quite cool, being able to mix and match food to create varying "flight" for your meal. What I had: Apps Ocean Flight - 8/10 Beef Wellingtons - 7/10 Deviled Eggs - 10/10 Entree Shrimp & Grits - 7/10 Veal Scallopini - 5/10 Elk Tenderloin - 9/10 Also had a wonderful Old Fashioned And others raved about desserts although I refrained. It was all spectacular ... the service (thanks Devin for handling our shenanigans with grace and a smile), the food, the drinks, and the ambiance. The idea of being able to purchase food in flights is a great idea especially for those of us who can't make up their mind. Absolutely love that idea. All presentation, no hospitality -- and this time, no flavor either I walked into Flight right at opening. The door was opened with a kind of staged formality, which set the tone: presentation over substance. I seated myself at the bar because no one offered guidance or acknowledgment. From there, the service never recovered. The place was nearly empty, yet I had to work to get basic engagement -- twice with the bartender, once with a nearby server. In the service industry, especially at this price point, attentiveness shouldn't require effort from the guest. Eventually, I ordered one of the more expensive bourbon flights and the top-tier surf and turf flight. Here's the honest breakdown: * Filet with jumbo lump crab -- solid. Hard to mess this up, and they didn't. It was the lone bright spot. * "Wagyu" -- not wagyu in any meaningful sense. It was a cube cut of beef, Pittsburgh-style rare-plus, topped with a single Gulf shrimp that had virtually no flavor. The zucchini underneath was forgettable. * Third protein with lobster tail -- the tail was extremely small (which I expected given the concept), but the bigger issue was that it had no flavor whatsoever. Butter, seasoning, something -- anything -- was missing. This was especially disappointing because on a previous visit I had the hunter's flight, which did have character and flavor. This menu missed entirely. But food aside, the larger issue was hospitality. Flight leans heavily on white linen aesthetics, choreographed entrances, and a curated image -- yet completely neglects the guest experience once you're seated, especially if you don't "look the part." At this price level, you're not just selling food. You're selling attention, warmth, and professionalism. I got none of that. I ate a portion of each item, paid my ~$150 tab, and left early -- not because I was full, but because I didn't feel welcome or valued as a guest. Decor 10/10 Service 10/10 - we had a marginal wait for food at times, but there was a large top (16?) seated directly after. It was understandable for a gap. Drinks 8/10 Wine flights were good paired well with the food order, cocktail were delicious no complaints on taste. I would say the price is high but what isn't these days. Food 4/10 Carpaccio - pounded too thin, paired with capers and arugula I couldn't taste the beef. Since it's wagyu it should be the star of the show. Oyster - great, no shell remnants. Escargot - wish it had more pop, mushroom added to the savory aspect of the dish, mainly taste butter and mushrooms. Needs more herbs de provance. Lamb - good cook on the lamb. Sauce is too sweet, tasted like a sweet / sour sauce from a takeaway. Croquet was spot on. Also small plate comes with 1 price of asparagus? I know it's a small plate but if you're sharing a couple at least make it two. Love the concept.. flights of dishes, drinks and deserts. Everything is mix and match. My mother got the beef carpaccio which she said was better than the beef carpaccio in Baden-Baden. We went here for our anniversary dinner. Our server Kate greeted us with champagne and asked if we wanted our picture taken. She was very helpful, knowledgeable, and was always there when we were ready for something else. The restaurant itself is very beautiful, and it's perfect for an intimate dinner. First time coming here and have always heard it was great. I ordered the steak flight and subbed the zucchini on the wagyu for more potatoes and I will say, you can't go wrong with more potatoes. The steak flight was delicious. Our servers were great too, explained how everything worked and my water was always full. We were sat in the wine cellar which was pretty cool, it was down a different set of stairs and had a better vibe to it. Overall it was a tad expensive but the food was worth it. read more
