    1. LOCATION is great. Highest elevation drive up campground on San Jacinto. In mixed forest of pine and oak. Easy access to Marion Mountain Trail which connects to the PCT as well as other local trails. 2. BATHROOMS are pit toilets. No biggie but they are FILTHY and there were mice turds, spiders and flies and ants everywhere. For an example of how a pit toilet can be go to the Stone Creek campground down the hill. They're immaculate. Or Palomar Mountain. Also very clean. Honestly I'd rather have no bathrooms and have to use a our luggable loo then deal with the lack of sanitary facilities. 3. RANGERS were very nice. I met the supervisor and we talked shop. Especially about the bear warnings. We had two groups in separate sites and they accommodated us moving locations to be next to each other without issue. 4. BUGS WERE OUT OF CONTROL. This is info only as you can't blame the campground per se but we were there 7/9 to 7/12 and all day was a barrage of bugs. First mosquitos then flies then back to mosquitos. So bad the last day I had 30 flies around me constantly while packing up. 5. WATER is only on Fri Sat Sun. If you're there other today's you have to go down to Fern Basin about 1/2 mile down the road or catch the ranger if he happens to be doing a water quality sample collection like I did :). We probably won't go back here unless the bathrooms are kept clean. There just isn't enough of a reason for us to choose it over the Stone Creek campground which is only a little lower and is 100x cleaner and tidier although slightly less space per sight and without some of the views.

Just recently stayed here and had a great time. It was extreme fire danger so fires were not allowed. That definitely put a damper on things as it was pretty chilly at night with no fire to huddle around. But we understand safety comes first and glad to see the park is taking precautions. With that aside the campground was beautiful. Sights are little sloppy and can be tough to find a nice level spot. It's a smaller campground so was not to busy or loud. Some sites the camp sites are set away from the campsite parking spot so could be little of a walk to actual campsite but nothing to really complain about. Sites 6-8 had great views and are perfect for people who like to get multiple sites with friends. Some great hiking trails just a short walk from the campground. Not as many boulders to climb as other campgrounds nearby such as boulder basin. Overall very nice campground with great hiking opportunities and beautiful sunset views.

One of the most amazing features of camping on Marion camp grounds are the sunsets. Some sites you must rsvp way before the season opens. The trails are expectacular with lush green endless views. No showers so you need to bring your own wash. The bathrooms have NO LIGHTS so at night bring a light, candles or a lamp otherwise it's black. The trails are steep and semi Shady but the trails are soft on the feet yet the air is in my humble opinion extremely thin. The views are all worth it. From the entire Idyllwild, San Jacinto mountain, Marion is my favorite to explore.

The campsite it's self was way more spread out than a lot of campgrounds i've been too.

We went from the 10th of May to the 12th we just went out there to just relax and get away…read more So we got there and got everything unpacked. And found out that the bottom of the refrigerator did not get very cold so I was actually worried about all of our food going bad so we called the front and let them know that the refrigerator was not working. The freezer worked fine so they sent somebody down to check it out. And he brought us a small refrigerator that he put on a table outside. So we could put some of our food in it so we did that, but notice that the refrigerator did not work very well. Either. But anyways, we just kind of dealt with it.. Then the maintenance guy came back and told us that they are giving us a free 2 hours on a pontoon boat for the inconvenience. I truly highly recommend this place, they truly make sure that you are comfortable. And they do try their best.I give these guys five stars.. A few things in their trailer should actually be updated. But we made things work. We will all definitely be going back there.Hopefully, they can get that trailer updated on the mattresses. The refrigerator. And just overall, the cleanliness of the trailer actually was not up to my standards, maybe they could do better, but other than that, it was awesome, very relaxing, enjoyed the nature and most definitely enjoyed the pontoon. Thank you again so much , and we definitely will be returning

I just completed My second year of fishing and camping here with my grandson. I love this place…read moresimply because of the staff. its camping, so things sometimes dont go as planned but the staff are always extremely helpful! Ed is the person who stands out for me. That guy goes out of his way to do what ever he can to make my visit enjoy for me and my grand-dude. The residents of the lake are also very helpful, welcoming to guest. There was a 8 yr old kid name Tauren who with his father's ok, walked up and down the shore to assist visitors in catching fish by offering his extensive knowledge of the lake and fish habits. Im already scheduling another trip. The water was low for the 2nd year in a row but I cant blame the lake for that! My one complaint is really trivial but the pillows and beds in the cottage were too hard and very difficult to sleep on. Also, the cottage I was in had two uncovered windows in the kitchen and the neighbors can look directly into the cottage at any hour.

It's literally two minutes from a gas station and less than 10 from a super cute village center with restaurants, cafes, hardware store, and a grocery store. I will say communication is different here than other thousand trails sites. Other sites we've been to send us updates via text but here is more word of mouth or calling in. The BEST thing about this site is the people who work here. They are so kind, informative, and friendly. We've been up here in the snow all week and the work and care the whole staff has taken to ensure everyone's safety has been clearly evident. We've been here late summer and felt the same way, very comfortable and peaceful. And on a note of the other reviews don't blame the park for disruptive people. There's those kinds of people EVERYWHERE, and for those of us who have worked in customer service we know sometimes there's only so much you can do. Second if you have a complaint about thousand trails as a COMPANY don't leave that review on a PARKS Yelp, they don't control the website or TT customer service lines. And lastly yes most spots are only electric and water, but that's why you have a map, and please why do you expect to park your RV on a MOUNTAIN and complain about level sites, that makes no sense. Come equipped with leveling blocks.
