Hidden Gem With a Split Personality -- Know What You're Booking Native Falls (formerly Indian Oaks) sits right between Marietta and Temecula wine country, and it's one of those places that can either be exactly what you want... or completely miss the mark depending on expectations. First impression, this place is visually dialed in. The lake, waterfall, oak trees, and overall layout give it a boutique campground feel you don't usually get this close to Temecula. It feels more like a curated outdoor resort than a rough-it campsite. You're minutes from wineries, but once you're inside, it actually feels tucked away. Where it really shines is family-friendly activity level. This is not sit-in-silence camping. You've got swimming, paddleboards, fishing, pickleball, and a beach-style setup that keeps kids busy all day. If you're bringing family, especially younger kids, this place delivers. The staff consistently gets high marks, and that shows up in real-world experience. People mention they're helpful, friendly, and actually engaged, which is rarer than it should be. The Reality Check: "This is where expectations matter." * Not a quiet nature escape This is more "social campground" than "off-grid retreat." Expect kids, music, movement. If you want silence, this isn't it. * Tent sites can be hit or miss Some are close to the road, so you'll get dust and traffic noise. That breaks the illusion pretty quickly. * Still evolving The place is clearly being upgraded. Some areas feel polished, others still feel mid-renovation. Bathrooms and infrastructure can be inconsistent depending on timing. * More "fun zone" than wilderness Think lake day with camping attached, not deep nature immersion. What It Really Is: This is a hybrid between a campground and a low-key outdoor resort. Great for: Families, casual campers, wine country weekends, group trips Not ideal for: Hardcore campers, solitude seekers, or anyone expecting national park-level quiet Bottom Line: If you go in expecting a polished, activity-driven campground with a great setting, you'll probably love it. If you're chasing peace, silence, and raw nature, you'll leave wondering what the hype was about.

Native falls was the best family experience my family could have asked for. This will be a life long fond memory. It's a classic lake experience that is highly recommended !!!!

Wonderful family friendly camping spot! There is so much for everyone to do and the accommodations are really clean and comfortable. We stayed in one of the new wagons which are really nice!! Highly recommend this spot!

Nice location with a small lake and nice views. Covered wagons were cool and the rustic cabins comfortable. Highly recommended.

When we got there it looked like we were going to have an amazing week. However the first night we were kept up by raccoons digging in our supplies and the abundance of ticks all over the tents and kids clothing kept them up scared all night.. Day 2 tree removal company started cutting trees completely Blocking the entrance of our campsite as we were camping.. That night was another raccoon & tick raid.. this time it walked right up to us and as I tried to spook it away from the kids it charged at me. Day 3 left my family to go to work and by that afternoon my wife was getting uncomfortably stared at by the camp site tree removal company that parked right next to our site again. I called and left a voice message for the front desk to inform them of what had been going on and ask if we can get a trap put out as well as have these peeping-tom's cut the trees down after we depart the camp site. My Wife went to the front desk to inform them about the aggressive raccoon and ask for a trap to be set out. The lady was extremely rude and said they are not responsible for our safety and instead of addressing the problem laughed and asked "where we were from" whatever that is supposed to mean.. We are American. So my Wife left an honest review. Within hours a man claiming to be management approached my wife and asked her and my 5 kids to leave immediately due to the negative review that my wife just left. I'm two hours away at work during this nightmare and haven't even gotten to enjoy the site yet as I had to work the first 3 days. Its just sad that these owners don't actually care about their customers' safety.. We are not difficult people at all and I never even leave reviews but this was a crazy nightmare.. We just asked for a little help by setting out a trap. This is a risk and if it had been another dad, he might have had to traumatize his kids killing it or even worse it attacks some kids..

Beautiful location. Great place for kids. Brought our teenage granddaughter here and rented a paddle board. She enjoyed taking it around the lake. We didn't camp, just came in on a Day Pass, but the camping options look great here.

I love this place!!! We stayed for two nights and tent camped near the lake. It's clean and everybody here is really cool and the kids are having a ton of fun playing on the trampoline that floats in the lake.

We camped here last summer in a tent and loved it, came back this summer in our new pop up trailer camper to one of the full hook up sites. Staff is great, guests are great, everyone's friendly and most importantly the campground is , beautiful with the lake and so many activities. Clean bathrooms, free shower, free grills to use, trash etc. Would recommend 10/10. We'll be back soon!

Unbelievably disappointed!! I booked a campsite for my boyfriend and I for one night. We'll we arrived and i left crying because of the "camping" site. They have is a strip of "camp sites" on the side of a very busy road by the stop sign!! In addition to the speeding cars, the sites are all extremely close together with absolutely zero privacy to have a "camping experience" I cried so hard after driving all the way there just to go back home within 10 mins of arriving. I paid some around $65 for that?!?! The camping sites are so close together that someone was a little too spread out and into our supposed to be site, to add to insult the site is not flat for tents, its on a slant!! I cannot express enough the dissatisfaction and complete shock how this camp ground was is set up. The website is lying to unsuspecting customers. No where do the pictures depict highway camping. You could just camp on the side of the road and pay for a day pass to this place and get the same experience. And of course to get your money back you have to cancel 7 days before you arrive to see the shocking reality of what you booked.

Ask the Community - Native Falls Campground

How clean would you rate the water on a scale of 1-5 with 5 being the cleanest? Thank you.

For a lake , I would definitely rate it a 5 in clean, fresh and cool!

Do the rv sites have fire pits?

There were a few but I didn't see that all did. I'd inquire about the exact sites with the admin office. There are a few community pits that seemed to be available most of the time.

How is the bathroom for tent campground?

The restrooms are decent. I stayed in my trailer about a month ago. But when we were exploring I used the restrooms. Obviously didn’t try the shower but the restrooms were clean

    How late can you arrive?

You can arrive as late as you like once you've received your arrival email, that will have all the info you will need to gain access to the park and/or cabin

How many cars are allowed per campsite as well as cabin?

We allow 1 Vehicle per RV Site and 2 Vehicles per Cabin. (A motorhome, Class C and Sprinter Van are considered 1 vehicle for RV sites )

Do the campsites have fire pits?

They have 2 fire pits in the main courtyard. But not at the campsites

Is there a store or snack shop?

There is a cute little store about a mile down the road

So excited to see the renovations. How dog friendly is it? Can the dogs play anywhere in the lake, For example throwing the ball in and letting them chase it?…

Hi Kathye! Absolutely! We love having dogs play in the lake too! We just ask guests to be mindful… Read more

These ants are known for having one of the most painful stings in North America, so we didn't feel it was safe or reasonable to set up our tent there. When we expressed our concerns, we were initially told, "It's nature," which felt dismissive. We understand that insects are part of camping, but an active colony of stinging ants directly in the campsite is different from seeing a few bugs. We also noticed cigarette butts scattered around the campsite, which made it seem like the site hadn't been cleaned or maintained very well before our arrival. To the campground's credit, they explained they were completely booked and couldn't move us to another site, and they did provide us with a full refund, which we appreciated. We just wish the campsite had been inspected and cleaned before guests arrived, and that our concerns had been taken more seriously from the start. We had no other choice but to go home. Waste of money (buying camping gear, food and gas to drive there) and time!

I could've tolerated staying at the campground but I decided to leave and drive into town for a cold sweet drink. Important info: Weak or no signal once you enter Warren Road. I have Verizon. I was told at the Check in booth there is signal, but it is weak. I got some signal driving to the campground, very spotty. So if you need to let someone know you have arrived to the campground, find a safe way to let them know before entering Warren Road. It's a beautiful drive once you turn onto Warren Road. View of the meadow with the hills in the background. Watch for the speed bumps and wild life crossing. I didn't see any wildlife crossing the road, but there are signs. There is a primitive camping section and rv/trailer sites with hookups. The group campground is located in a different area just before the Camp Store. The Camp Store has two sizes of ice for purchase. Firewood and ice cream the most important (lol). They have Lake Skinner memorabilia. I purchased stickers. They have lots of drinks to offer and even bottle of wine and port. This campground is in wine country so you might want to do some wine tasting instead. If you happen to forget some camping supplies they have a variety of things available and even for fishing since you can fish, boat, and kayak at the lake. From what I understand you can rent kayaks too. The group campground only have porta potty rooms. No showers. These are partial hook up sites with electric and water. One side to this group location has a good view of the lake. Trees are sparse at this group site. Bring shade and weights or tie downs for your shade. There is occasionally wind gusts. Sometimes they last awhile. There is a community pergola with metal picnic tables. The pergola is slats shading so not full coverage. Next to this area is one cement fire ring. Electric is available at this pergola but I heard it can be overloaded if too many things are plugged in. I drove through the campground. It's very pretty, very green, plenty of trees and right now looks like plenty of parking because it's not summer yet. The Camp Store mentioned that the adjoining restaurant will probably not be in service until next year (2027). They need to ad AC and some equipment in the kitchen. The water park feature is not open for use at the moment. Showers are located between A and B primitive campgrounds. The women's have two showers available. No coins needed . The showers and sinks are powered by using the pump step (wash station) or pump push buttons (in the shower area) I think it's a very nice campground. I would like to go when it's a little tad cooler. The plus, is you will find some time to relax and enjoy the birds singing throughout the park.

There's a dog park, a dog washing station, a laundry room, showers, a pool, picnic areas and hook ups for water, electricity and sewage. I felt at ease. I couldn't wait to come back... Unfortunately things changed and broke my heart. My suv was experiencing power steering issues so security was kind enough to allow my partner and I to gather up some items at auto zone and work on our car in an empty area of the Pala parking lot. As my partner was finishing up, I told him we may as well just pay for another night at the rv resort so we could use their showers because he was covered in sweat and car fluids. I walked over there and spoke to the nice young girl I had communicated with earlier and told her I'd like to reserve another night and I'm happy to pay (my stay was comp'd due to my player status at Pala Casino). Her reply was "I understand but unfortunately your RV is not allowed to be at our resort anymore. We cannot accept it. The photos you submitted were not the same as what we saw in person." See, I had to get my RV approved to even be allowed before I arrived because of the year (1998). I sent in good pictures of course with great angles... I want the vehicle to look as nice as possible. It was the motorhome version of "you can't sit with us" from mean girls. I was stunned. I'm still stunned. We fit in with every other person there at the resort. I'm sorry our motor home wasn't 6 figures. But it's not an eye sore by any means. It's just not a crazy luxury one like the others that surrounded us. I mean, one of the neighbors admitted his vehicle was $400k+ and invited us to come in and look around. It looked like the Taj Mahal without exaggeration. I know my face fell and I simply replied "...oh..". The girl then goes "I see your stay was a casino comp, can't you go to the hotel?" I was mortified. I just said "yeah... I guess." And I walked away. And I cried. Apparently because my RV isn't brand new and expensive, I am undeserving of a nice, comfortable place that feels like a second home to visit with my loved ones and our humble motorhome. Weeks pass and after my partner spoke to the manager, she let him know that two things needed to be fixed on our Class A: the awnings and the apparent unsightly what appeared to be small areas of "rust" towards the top of the RV. We went ahead and removed those issues. I proceeded to attempt to book a few nights there and I received a response stating that although they appreciate us fixing the cosmetic issues, now apparently we are told from our last visit, either the RV or my Mercedes SUV left a, once again, unsightly oil or liquid substance behind on the pad where we were parked. And I quote, "To stay at the Pala RV Resort, all vehicles must be well maintained and in good running condition. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate a stay at this time". Honestly, I don't know why I continue to become shocked by the types of responses I receive from this place. I don't know what kind of training they're given but the elitest vibe and the "you guys aren't good enough" attitude shot back at adults who are just trying to find a comfortable, safe and pleasant area to reside for a few days in our motor home along with our sweet dogs is just so unnecessarily rude, cruel and demeaning. Is the upscale reputation being upheld far more important than respect, kindness and a helpful, welcoming vantage point? In conclusion, as long as your trailer or motor vehicle is pristine, less than 20 years old and you are upper middle, upper class or better yet, a one percenter, this place is PERFECT for you, all your needs will be met, respect will be given to the utmost degree. If you are anything less than that, go find yourself a spot in a Walmart parking lot or the bureau of land management because you won't have a place for yourself here... well, you may get a "pass" for a stay but then you'll be reminded how unworthy you are to be in "such a high standard establishment." Above offended and angry, I'm hurt, upset and appalled by the way this has been handled. Thinking of these interactions actually gives me a great discomfort in my stomach and it's a shame.

    4.0(1 review)
    20.2 mi

I love camping! If I could live in a certain way of life, camping would be it! But this was a…read morecamping experience to remember! The "Enchanting Blueberry Farm" it is called - and behind that name are actual blueberries! First of all, finding this place was an adventure, due to the lack of a real physical address. You have to locate this place with the help of a GPS. There are two actual ways to get there: one is up a winding mountain, where you and your car will have to drive off the edge to get there (Nah, don't do it! Just back the vehicle up, just like we did, and take the other route!); the other will be provided to you with the help of Ron's maps and hand-drafted directions (it's that adventurous!), which will take you through a small town called Rainbow near Fallbrook. It only took us about 1.5 hrs from San Diego city to get here and once you reserve your spot on their website, Ron, the owner of this camping site of a beaut (He is a very busy man who you may not see very much of; but if you do, he is nice and will come to greet you and make sure that you are happy), will e-mail you the instructions. Now, onto the rest of the details: I could not believe the warmth and friendly welcome by the family that runs the farm! It was unbelievable - like I was taking a trip to some friendly island where people put a wreath of flowers over your head to greet and welcome you. Instead of getting that, you get a handful of plump and delicious blueberries lovingly propped into your hands. All of the family members, including the kids greet you with a friendly handshake and tell you their name. This was no gimmick, rather a heartfelt welcome. I almost wanted to cry. I don't remember the last time I was treated this way while away on a trip. Wow. The area is a beautiful rural area around the mountains, so the weather is bright and sunny during the day and nice and cool at night (the way camping weather should be *wink*)! You will see the farm family's house and then lots of trees in a blueberry "vineyard" when you first drive up. Then, you drive to your camp spot, passing scattered orchards of oranges, lemons and other trees featuring unusual, yet delicious fruits! There is also a farm garden with some banana trees, raspberry bushes and some chickens and a rooster. Mr. Rooster will wake you at the break of dawn :) We stayed at the Banana site #3. the ground here is of dirt and provides a softer base. Building your tent on top of this soil will harbor funny surprises of moles that come out of their holes to rustle the floor of your tent while you are sleeping. You get all the wonderful sounds of nature at night, from the ground moles (or whatever they are), peacocks and the coyotes howling away at dusk. lots of space available for you to enjoy some privacy from other campers and a little tinkle on the ground at night, if you don't make it to the toilet room! The amenities are a bathroom situated alongside the farmhouse with a toilet and shower. The downsides to this is that there is only one on the site and that there is no warm running water at the time. But the cold water was fine for a quick shower. Also, the bathroom needed to be maintained and cleaned. There were some cleaning supplies there and a broom and a water hose, so I cleaned periodically during my stay. I like that recycled materials were used to make the toilet/bathroom. There is also clean, running water at most campsites! Here, you can go hiking, enjoy the fruit on the trees (try the caterpillar berries - yum!!!) and hear legends about the area from the kids who live on the farm. They are so helpful and will assist you in any way! There are also fire pits on the sites. So much more could be said about this place but, I just loved it here and would love to camp here again in the future!!

And not crowded especially for a Saturday. We were pretty impressed with all the amenities. There are tons of places to BBQ, have group gatherings or just hang with your own family. We even found a small amphitheater! So cool. There are at least 2 baseball fields, a volleyball court, soccer field etc... We saw a strong park ranger presence as well. I like how this creates a safe environment. The bathrooms we went to were simple, yet clean and there are trees all throughout. It's such a perfect place to be for outside air, family time and small gatherings.

One on the NW side and one on the east side. I've come to the park many times and only once was there a park ranger at the stand. You can also obtain annual pass at the ranger office. There are two baseball fields, an open field for soccer and a volleyball sandpit on one side. The other side you will find all the picnic areas along with the kids play area, a horseshoe pit, a small stage, a small amphitheater and basketball court. You can make reservations for large events at the rangers office (not at this time because of Covid19, large gathering are prohibited) You will also find kiosks that will share some history about Live Oak and information on nature that surrounds or is in the park. Its is shaded with many beautiful and large oak trees and some sycamores. Restrooms are available on both sides of the park. Recently, they improved the ramp to the park from the parking lot. Handicap accessible, ready. They also made a nice cement walkway, making it a much safer walk area. They also added a few more picnic tables and planted a number of new oak trees. I enjoy strolling this park, but I find my dogs seems to enjoy just as much. (There are 4 posts that provided disposal bags to clean up after your pet.)

Lake Skinner - A Perfect Camping & Glamping Escape!…read more Yesterday, I packed up my two boys (ages 8 & 10) and their friend from school (also 8) for our very first camping/glamping adventure at Lake Skinner--and it was absolutely perfect. We booked a site with just the basics--electrical and water hookups--for only $50, which was all we needed for our tiny camper. The campground was clean, well-organized, and had plenty of open sites with different options and amenities, including a camp store for convenience. Some of our favorite spots were the splash pad and the playgrounds--perfect for keeping the kids entertained. Even if you just come for the day, these areas alone make it worth the trip. The kids had a blast, and it was wonderful seeing so many other families enjoying themselves too. Since we had their friend with us, we left around 8 PM to drop him back home--only about a 20-minute drive to Murrieta--then returned to the campsite, played a few games in the camper, and settled in for the night. With a 6 AM wake-up, we still made it home in time to freshen up, eat breakfast, and get the kids ready for school. (We even packed their backpacks just in case we needed to go straight from camp!) My boys haven't stopped talking about the trip--how much fun they had, how exciting it was to sleep overnight, and how much they want to go back. As a retired Navy Chief (41 years old) now balancing a busy real estate career, this is exactly how I want to spend my free time--unplugging, connecting with nature, and making lasting memories with my kids. Affordable, family-friendly, and packed with fun--Lake Skinner has definitely earned a spot on our repeat list. We can't wait to do it again!
