While I didn't go with Mario's bid I felt the need to tell everyone how prompt his responses were. I was looking for estimates and reached out to around 10 companies. Mario and one other were the only two that responded quickly, gave me the answers I needed and didn't give me the run around. I was impressed with his knowledge of what I was asking as it was not a simple job. I've already told him I may be back begging. As others have said Mario was responsive and gave me a quote that seemed reasonable. Things went well at first when Mario was doing the work and supervising his crew. When a delay happened due to a broken countertop (not his fault it was broken), it was hard to schedule resuming the project when the new one finally arrived. He never personally came back to the house. His tile crew had done a sloppy job on the kitchen backsplash and when I complained he said the backsplash was "complicated." His response to spaces around the outlets was "Home Depot sells bigger outlet covers." When I said that wouldn't work, his tile crew added grout to cover up spaces around the outlets instead of repairing the bad cuts. When I told him an outlet In the bathroom wouldn't screw into the wall because it was on the outside of the tile, Mario told me to buy a bit at Home Depot to drill a hole for the screws because that is what he usually does! Cuts to tile in the bathroom were jagged and couldn't be corrected. His tile man finally suggested a solution that worked just fine. I just wish they had done it that way in the first place. I was charged more for fixing the mistakes because it was extra work. I feel that if Mario had been there to communicate with his crew and resolve issues, this project could have been successful. When Mario was there, things went well. He just never personally came back to inspect the work his workers completed or to respond to our concerns. read more

There seems to be a continous stream of todo lists on my house. From "fix-it" to "renovate-it" and Mario is the first guy I call EVERY time. Because.... He's skilled, smart, easy to communicate with, a trustworthy self starter who can work unsupervised and ... in this business... the unicorn of all unicorns... RELIABLE. :) Yes, if Mario says he will be at your house at a certain time, he will be there! From simple tasks like hanging hammocks and concocting barn doors from a re-store closet door purchase to more involved ones like renovating attic space into a mini living space .... When I first contacted Mario, I was surprised at his responsiveness. I had different jobs for him and I told him that I'm looking for someone to be my go to guy whenever I need anything fixed in my house. The main job I had for him was to lay tiles in the kitchen, install some electric wiring and repair some parts of the kitchen drywall. His price was very competitive and I was happy! And then things started to fall apart. Mario and his crew removed the tiles but did not remove the thinset, saying that leveling the floor will take care of that. I called the hardwood flooring company and they said that the thinset should be removed. So I had to rent an electric demo hammer and remove it myself! It took me 4 hours! Next, his drywall guy came in and repaired the wall, but did not paint it, which was part of the deal. I contacted Mario and he said the guy will come the next day. He never showed up! I had to repaint the wall myself! And today, a day before he comes in to install the tiles, Mario asks me to buy the thinset and floor leveler for him to do the job! He says if I don't buy the material, he won't come! That's pure robbery! When we agreed on the price he never mentioned that I had to buy the material! If you ever hire him, make sure that the price he is quoting you includes labor and material and everything you want, or else Mario will find a way to charge you extras just to make a couple dollars more. Amazing!! So we had decided to re-tile our bathroom but by day 3, we were spent and just couldn't work on it any longer. We still had one wall to complete and grouting, caulking, and some gaps to be filled. I was so ready to have it done and contacted several people. Mario was able to send his guys out the very next day!!! I was so worried because they didn't get started until 1 pm and thought it'd run into another day, but NOPE they finished it by 5:30 pm and it looked perfect!!! The price was right too. We plan on adding a back splash in our kitchen soon and know exactly who to call. Oh, and the guys that completed the job were really nice too. They left the place cleaner than they found it (because we had made a mess)! read more

Mario is the real deal! He is busy because he does quality work for a good price! Mario has remodeled two houses for us including demo, rough carpentry, electrical, plumbing, finish carpentry, trim, tape float & texture, tile, siding & more! He's is honest & hardworking! The guys he has working for him have been with him for years. I cannot say enough about how valuable he is to have on the job. He knows what looks good and will help you figure out layout and finishes if you ask him. Many times he has stopped me from doing something stupid, I kid you not. When I first called Mario in 2011 from seeing his reviews on yelp he wasn't available for several weeks. I didn't think I could wait that long and got someone else to do the job. Well long story short, I ended up contacting him again to fix all the mistakes the quick response contractor made. He's been doing small to large to enormous projects for me ever since. He lets me know when I need to call in a licensed trade person and when it's something he can do. Our house in Austin in 2015 got tens of thousands more in sales price I believe wholeheartedly because of Marios work! I'm now having Mario remodel our new house in Georgetown as I type. I probably messaged around 6 or 7 companies for a small trim job around the stairs. I either got no answer/reply or they quoted me a ridiculous amount. Plus nobody came and looked at what I was dealing with. I finally messaged Mario and within a couple of hours he texted me back saying he wanted to come by. I scheduled a date and time for him to come out. Mario showed up right on time and looked at my problem. He even suggested what would look better than what I wanted. He came this morning with another employee and knocked out the trim job in about hour. Mario is professional, reasonably priced, and knows what he's doing. I had been looking for someone to do renovations on my home for months. I had called 6 contractors that friends had recommended; 3 said they would get back to me and never did; 2 never called back. After trying to find a contractor who was not booked out for 3 months for an urgent project, I found Mario! I needed to take out a step/platform in my home to make my house handicap-accessible for my 85-year-old mother who is moving in with me suddenly. Mario sympathized with the urgency of my situation and was able to squeeze my project in! On top of that, I had to go out of the country in the middle of the project, and he was able to complete the project to my satisfaction totally in my absence. He removed a 5'x4'x6" concrete step/platform, repaired with new rebar/concrete, leveled the floor/prepped for flooring, lowered a doorframe, patched the drywall, taped, floated, and textured. Flooring, painting, and trim work are still pending as I needed to select these upon my return, but I have no doubt this work will be excellent as well.
