I hired Marcus to frame, sheet rock, and install a French door w/transom and sidelites in a 90s era home. I consider myself a DIYer, but in this case, I wanted something done professionally to make sure everything was nice and neat. While I had a basic idea of what I wanted, I debated getting a formal project manager to handle coordination of the full install. With a ton of experience doing this kind of install, Marcus helped out so much that I was pretty much able to handle coordination of the main pieces and personnel without needing to hire anyone else. He did a great job making the vision come alive and was transparent with any problems that arises (and importantly fixing them when necessary). He was friendly, fair with pricing, and also very quick-- framing and installation took only 2 separate, spread out days (to allow for drywalling and parts arrival in between). Carpentry is the name of the game here, and high level carpenters are a rare breed that end up having their own DIY or HGTV shows once people catch wind. This "company" is a joke. Marcus shows up for consultation, seems friendly, & we talk about what is needed for my 3 doors: front, garage, & back door. Ok, cool. He shows up for the work day with a kid who couldn't have been more than a teenager & I'm thinking "Oh, maybe this kid is apprenticing." No, Marcus leaves & the kid is left to do all of the work. Ok, fine. I'm not age-ist; I am assuming he knows what he's doing! 1. My front door was sawed too small to where there has been a significant gap & wind blows through ever since (ruined my door!) 2. The kid left to take a break for a while, comes back, has super red eyes, & is acting "out of it" & confused when I asked him a few questions. We live in Austin; you can put it together. Let's just say: Not professional. (But he is unmonitored by his boss, so...) 3. My back door was sawed also too small, allowing air to come through ever since (and ruining that door!) 4. From rubbing and creaking to simply not opening without feeling like you were going to rip the entire door off its frame, they were able to fix them all in about an hour. We had foundation work done last year, and almost every door in the house was off in some way. Marcus was quick to respond and schedule an appointment. When he wasn't going to be able to come himself, he called in advance to make sure that I was comfortable with working with Corey. We hired Austin Doors & Trim to replace 15 interior hinged doors + 4 sliding closet doors in our house this week. The doors we had previously were 18 years old, ugly, and many showed extreme signs of wear and tear from the previous owner. The existing hinge placements and "straightness" of the door frames in our home are each slightly different from the next so buying pre-hung doors was not an option. Marcus and Corey expertly trimmed the door slabs as needed, mortised the hinge slots, and drilled and installed the doorknobs/latches. We also had them mortise a third (middle) hinge slot into each door frame as they previously only had two hinges. Our new doors look great! The guys were very polite, professional, and personable. They happily answered all of our questions and I enjoyed speaking with them throughout the process. Marcus' estimates for cost and time to completion were spot-on. I have an ~75 year old house with a problematic antique doorknob and I did not want to replace the entire door, I just wanted to remove all the old funky hardware and install a modern big box company handle. I also had some screen doors that needed replacement or to be installed for the first time. Working with Marcus was refreshing.
