Love at first bite! I was greeted warmly by both employees. Tried the mango and it was so good and refreshing. Perfect amount of sweetness and I enjoyed the texture. Almost like they just blended a mango into ice cream, yum. Can't wait to go back. Couple tables inside

Stopped in here for dessert after attending a concert down the street. Place is small with couple of tables. They do not have the largest selection of ice cream. The place has a lot of artwork and displays on the wall. Lot of interesting things to look at. Place is environmentally friendly. I like the use of wooden spoons. I ordered a sundae with all the toppings. It was really good. I love the long old school container it came in. Instead of piling the ice cream on top of each other, the scops are laid out next to each other. You can choose where to start versus how the scoops are placed on top of each other. Service is very friendly. If you are in the area, this is a nice place to stop in for some ice cream.

Homemade ice cream what more can you ask for. Super fresh best mango sorbet I've ever had. Dairy free so if this your thing then eat your heart out... service was great the place has an old school feel. Yet simple. Just a simple scoop of ice cream no frills. Excellent can't beat it. Delicious

A nice little family owned shop with homemade ice cream. Servings are generous and reasonable. They only had one non-dairy option, but my sister said it was good. And I enjoyed my hot fudge sundae.

Very good banana split with options of toppings with the nuts, whipped cream, and cherries included. Great ice cream choices with high quality taste. The storefront is so original with timeless images of visitors throughout time.

What a cute spot! There was plenty of Beatles decor and achievements inside with some seating and two people taking orders up ahead They do allow you to sample which is always helpful and nice to see! The banana walnut and Mexican chocolate were both good and I can see why this place is so talked about

A Sweet Escape at Mariposa Ice Cream I absolutely love this place! If you're an ice cream enthusiast, you have to check it out. They make their ice creams in-house, and you can really taste the freshness in every scoop. During my visit, we tried a variety of flavors: the blackberry was delightful (8/10), the banana walnut was a perfect 10/10, and the cookie & cream also earned a solid 10/10. But the real star of the show was the mango sorbet--an incredible 10000/10! It was so refreshing and bursting with flavor; I could have eaten it all day! The atmosphere is just as charming as the ice cream. The staff is incredibly sweet and friendly. She even showed me her tiny little book filled with notes and cute little decorations around the store. It's those little touches that make the experience even more special. For families, there's a cozy little table and chairs for kids, complete with crayons and coloring sheets to keep them entertained while everyone enjoys their treat! We will definitely be back for more delicious ice cream and the warm, welcoming vibe!

The family and I stopped by Mariposa Ice Cream and grabbed two scoops: creamy vanilla and coffee, topped with a playful heap of rainbow sprinkles. The vanilla is always a classic while the coffee brought a rich, wake-up kick--perfectly complemented by the sprinkles' fun crunch. The person scooping was super friendly, though teased me a bit, asking, "How old are you?" when I requested the sprinkles. I just laughed--sprinkles never get old bro! The environment was cool, with a cozy, retro vibe that felt like a step back in time. Apparently, even Will Ferrell's dropped in before, which adds some serious star-studded charm to this little gem.

Ask the Community - Mariposa Ice Cream

Do they have rum and raisin flavor there?

    Yes

Do they have any vegan ice cream or cone options?

They usually have 1 or 2 vegan flavors available on the menu. I've recently had vegan Maple and vegan Chocolate Mint. Not to mention their delicious Very Berry Sorbet.

Who are the founders or owners of Mariposa Ice Cream, and is the ice cream worth it ?...

There is no proof to the rumor that Mariposa ice cream contains angel tears, but yes, it's worth it.

My friends and I were just looking to get a coffee in Little Italy, but when we walked in and saw all the delicious treats we had to try something else as well. I ordered a latte and neglected to tell them it was for here so I was given a paper cup, but they give real cups if you ask. The latte was good, and my friend bought a kitchen sink type cookie with chocolate, coconut, and macadamia nuts. It was warm and gooey good! Another friend tried the gelato and said it was very good. There are a few tables inside and tables out in front outside. We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful San Diego weather. The decor and tables definitely gives you an old school Italian neighborhood vibe with Italian markets right next door. If I am in the neighborhood again, I would definitely come back here to try the gelato and/or a piece of an excellent looking lemon pie bar I spotted.

The decor and setting is cute and quirky, including cow sculptures hanging upside down from the ceiling. There were only a couple other visitors when we arrived, as it was near opening time. Our dishes took a whopping 35 minutes to be ready, and service was not very friendly nor helpful. Luckily, the music playing through the speakers added a nice vibe to the place, songs like Our House by Madness and Can't Fight This Feeling. We ordered the brunch pizza (with eggs cooked overeasy) and the breakfast flatbread which looked almost identical when served, as well as an iced mocha. The quality of the pizza was pretty average, and the eggs were slightly overcooked. The drink was really good, made fresh, with a smooth taste and a nice sweetness to it, the plastic cup coated in chocolate sauce. It tasted more like chocolate milk with a hint of coffee, which I personally enjoyed. They typically serve gelato here, but it would not be ready till almost two hours after opening time. So no milkshakes or cold desserts were available in the morning this past Sunday (no worries, Ghirardelli is just a block away). I appreciate the variety of menu items offered here. But they really should communicate online that their gelato's not ready till two hours into the day. If there's one thing that irks me about an establishment, it's failure to communicate appropriately. Even though our recent visit was somewhat disappointing, I still gave 3 stars, assuming this was an off day for them.

We stopped by recently and got incredibly lucky--there was no line in sight, so we walked right up to order! The Cookies: Gooey, Crisp, & Perfectly Balanced My wife decided to try a trio of cookies, picking out Snickerdoodle, Peanut Butter Reese's, and classic Chocolate Chip. They completely nailed the texture. Every single cookie hit that golden sweet spot--warm and gooey in the middle with just the right amount of crisp edge. What really stood out was the balance of ingredients. Chocolate Chip: Perfectly measured so you get sweet chocolate in every bite without feeling overwhelmed by chips. Peanut Butter Reese's: An absolute dream ratio of rich peanut butter to chocolate peanut butter cups. Snickerdoodle: Perfectly spiced, striking just the right "snicker-to-doodle" balance! Of course, we couldn't leave without trying the ice cream. I ordered a combination of Cookie Monster and Campfire in a single scoop. The portion size was remarkably generous--it completely filled up the small cup and delivered a fantastic mix of flavors. My wife went with a scoop combining Espresso Oreo and Mint & Chip, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Overall, these were easily some of the best desserts we've had in a very long time. Whether you're a local or just exploring the downtown area, Milk & Cookies is well worth a visit.
