A real life Central Perk! I completely forgot to review this place! I've been coming here for over a year now and it's by far the best coffee shop in the area, possibly in all of San Diego. You expect a cafe to have good coffee, but what about a plethora of food options? From pastries to breakfast burritos to veggie bagel sandwiches? (My personal favorite.) Will they have quirky decor and a cozy à la Friends feel to it? Come here with a book on a warm day when they have the bay doors open and tell me it's not paradise. If you're a student or work from home professional, this place should be your default second desk. Everyone that works here is so nice, especially the owner Ashley. They have variety of coffee and syrups and breakfast options. I loved that they offer a mini açaí cup, I tried this and enjoyed it. I also tried their breakfast burrito but was not a fan of this at all. Did not like the tortilla or their sausage/filling. Flavor wasn't there for me. i was in the area for a conference and had seen lazy eye coffee pop up as a recommendation, so i had to try it out! there was a limited spring flavor that i wanted to try, but they ran out of the syrup for it :( i ended up getting the banana bread latte, and i thought that it was a pretty good coffee with a good banana flavor. it was a bit acidic for me personally and not as smooth as i usually like it, but it was overall still good. the stand itself is small with only a few people working, so it takes a bit longer for each drink, but i like how they put care into the drinks! beware tho that parking here is pretty bad, so be prepared to carpool and find street parking. read more

As a pug owner and certified pug lover, I was already sold the second I saw the Lazy Eye logo. I couldn't decide between the Avo BLT and the Gooey Toast, so I asked the super friendly cashier for a recommendation. She suggested the Gooey Toast, and I trusted the process. Unfortunately, the avocado wasn't ready, so I swapped it for bacon... and honestly, no complaints because I'm a bacon lover anyway. Ooof, the lemon pesto with the chili onion flakes made all the flavors pop. Everything came together so well. One of the main coffee shops I visit when I am in town. I love that there is ample seating for big groups or just if you need to get some work done. It is also dog friendly and nice customer service. Not only did I see the shop was decorated, but the employees were always dressed up too, which I think is so cute. Their coffees are good and I have done a few of their seasonal sandwiches and burritos. But what I absolutely love is all the food options they have for vegetarians. And I don't just mean a pastry. They have veggie OR soyrizo burritos! Even better, there is a $10 deal for a drip coffee and burrito. So not only is it tasty, it's affordable. It's open and airy and not busy on a Sunday. I was excited to try one of their flavored lattes, which was the Banana Bread Latte with oat milk I also got the Ultimate Bagel on an Everything bagel. The latte, tasted nothing like banana bread. To be honest, it tasted like a Vanilla Latte. There's nothing too special about it and I was super disappointed. It was watery and no distinct flavors stood out to me. I was so disappointed that I got another latte somewhere else later on. As for the bagel, it was pretty tasty and filling. The bagel was soft and ingredients were fresh. The place looked like a good place to study but there were a lot of flies when I was waiting. Lazy Eye Coffee feels like the perfect place for a neighborhood hang. Corner spot, big spacious interior, drinks and food to enjoy. The only downside, parking. Thus, best to come by if you're in walking distance. On a Friday afternoon, the place was half full. There were lots of folks working on their computers thanks to the free WiFi. My only challenge working here would be that it's pretty hot. It's all open aired so it can get really warm in here. They had a seasonal special of a rose lychee latte made with their homemade rose lychee syrup. I asked if I could swap the espresso for matcha. The rose lychee syrup was perfectly paired with matcha and the drink was delicious! It needed a little more ice but I appreciated that they didn't skimp on the actual drink to ensure it was full! Love this coffee shop! It first caught my attention because of the mural they have outside. The interior is super open and I love that they are dog friendly. There's a lot of seating options and they have outlets so you can work here. It does get a bit loud because of the coffee machines, but that's expected at any coffee shop. It was my first time here and the workers are extremely sweet and answered all of my questions. Definitely coming back here again! You'll need to find street parking like all places in North Park, but this is a great place to visit and get some work done. read more

I ordered an Iced Vanilla Bean Latte and their Drumstick Signature Latte(chocolate, vanilla, caramel, plus sea salt)both with breve. I had rose pistachio oat latte on Sunday early afternoon. It was extremely sweet and no hints of anything that it should taste like. I didnt taste any rose water or pistachios or almonds or grapefruit. Which is weird because they advertise home made syrups. I only tasted a lot of sugar. It should be possible to return the drinks that are not drinkable. If there is any way to get my money back, please let me know, because it cost me 7 usd to get loads of sugar with oat milk. Later I realized that maybe also in the oatmilk there was added sugar and therefore this drink was so excessively sweet? The ambiance is nice though. read more

People hype up the other coffee shops in the area but lowkey this might be the best one on 30th street and maybe the best one in North Park in general. First of all. It's a chill place to come and kick it. Open space. Good vibes. Plenty of spots to sit. Free wifi. Not sure if it's dog friendly but it looks so. Menu is affordable and has a lot of variety. I don't ever eat at cafe but there were several things that caught my eye that might change my mind. I got two coffees here. The Coconut Orange Blossom Water Americano for 6 dollars. Its coconut water, espresso and their house made orange blossom almond syrup with a dash of cream. And I also got the Pear Peach Pie coffee which had fresh peaches, pears and plums are stewed in a simple syrup of thyme, nutmeg and clove to create a pie like syrup added to espresso and oat milk. The orange blossom was for the win. Both were great and you could taste all the notes. It was well rounded. But the orange blossom had that little bit of umph that separated it from the other. Which is interesting because I typically wouldn't go for it. I did ask for the peach pie coffee to be made with one less pump because it just sounded super sweet. Service was quick and easy. Nice people all around. There were a handful of people there and I saw a worker go around and check in with each of them which I feel like doesn't really happen at a coffee shop and that was sweet. The fans were working much better than last time with a nice cool breeze. The space was well decorated with pretty vases and plants. Today, I sat in the front of the coffee shop and shared the rectangular table with a few strangers. I ordered my drink "for here!" I was deciding between a vanilla bean latte and the peach pear pie again. I decided to go with the ($6) iced peach pear pie latte, the smaller size, with regular milk. Compared to other coffee places, this one lacks the coffee strength. I think it was quite thin & milky today. I couldn't exactly taste all the flavors listed on the description for this latte (I wish it had more oomph! I know I said that last time too, but I figured it would be different today). I saw people with hot drinks, their "for here" mugs were so lovely! The ceramic glaze was a beautiful blueish purple which matched their Lazy Eye Coffee mural outside. A nice array of seasonal specials, coffee, teas, and food! Dog friendly and a great place to come with friends/family. Have conversations or people-watch outside the windows. I placed a pickup order while I was dog sitting. The dog is not comfortable around other dogs, but after a long walk, which we did before picking up the coffee, he is chill. I went in, picked up my coffee and the sweetest young girl looked me in my eye and said Thank you and used my name which was a part of the order. So great customer service! I don't know who or when it was owned by someone else. The name intrigued me as I was diagnosed with a lazy eye when I was a kid...for real though. LOL I went in there today to get something to eat since I saw that they had bagels and burritos. They have a nice special going to 10.00 for black coffee and a burrito. I will definitely get that next time. It's a sweet little coffee shop with a lot of character. I love how it's decorated, and it looks like a good place for my recruiter and me to meet up the next time she wants to come to North Park. Thankfully, they have vegan choices, but I accidentally ordered the wrong thing: a veggie burrito. It was good, considering it had an egg on it, but that's my fault, not theirs. Make sure you calm your ADD while reading the menu, I wasn't paying close enough attention while ordering. There is a nice big couch with a coffee table; while I was sitting there, I couldn't help but think of the Central Perk from Friends. I would sit next to Phoebe, though, not Ross. Anyhow, I will be back once it's not so hot outside because this is an old building, and the airflow isn't very good, and it was really warm where I was sitting. They need to turn the fans on. I don't know what braniac thought yuzu and coffee would be a good flavor combo, and I don't know why on earth I ordered it because it doesn't really sound that appealing to me (maybe it was morbid curiosity), but I'll be damned if the yuzu ginger latte isn't the best flavored latte I've ever had in my life. Ambience: Lots of seating, good for working from home as there are plenty of outlets (all extremely loose so make sure your charger isn't too heavy and won't fall out of the outlet), free wifi that works pretty good. I will often work from home at this place. Also pet friendly so I get to pet a lot of dogs which is huge. Service: I mostly see the same people, all very nice and talkative if you're in need of that. Sometimes when you order, they'll bring it to you whether its food or drink, and sometimes you'll get up to get it. Not a big deal either way, its just a funny betting game for me to see which one they do that day. Food: Expensive for what it is so I don't usually get anything unless there is a deal. I ordered the banana bread latte, which was enjoyable. The banana syrup (whether house-made or not) didn't taste artificial. However, I didn't notice any walnut bitters, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, it was a nice treat for anyone looking for something sweeter and smoother. I think this is the third coffee shop that has been in this location. Parking is very difficult so it definitely would not be a go to for me if I was not in the neighborhood already. Staff was friendly. They have lots of seating inside with tables in the front and back. They offer food as well, but I only had their drinks. Tried: Banana iced latte - really sweet. I think because this was a batch coffee that it had very little espresso to counter the sweetness. Peanut butter - this was good, but the peanut butter flavor wasn't very strong. North Park is the home of the newest branch of Lazy Eye Coffee which has a presence in Bay Ho and Mission Beach that are both closer to where I live. The operating hours of this location are from 7 am to 4 pm. The later closing time suited my recent schedule so I made the drive to 30th St on a mid-afternoon. I saw a fire truck parked nearby and thought nothing of it until I entered the cafe. A group of firefighters was gathered around a large table taking a break. Good for them! This corner suite had ample seating that was well-spaced apart. Along the left wall was some merchandise on display. Menu boards were posted behind the service counter, and sheets were also available next to the register. Black brews, milk brews, and non-coffee were the drink categories. The last was a medley of offerings like hot/cold tea, smoothies, shakes, hot cocoa, and chocolate milk. The food was more limited as I counted eight choices. Interestingly, the online menu at lazyeyecoffee.com had fewer food and drink selections than the on-site menu. I picked a Sparkling Lavender Lemonade and a Brekkie Burrito. The sparkling lemonade was infused with vanilla lavender. The burrito consisted of a fresh tortilla filled with eggs, potatoes, cheddar cheese, and sausage as my choice of protein. It was cut in half and served with a cup of salsa. What I liked best about the item was that the tortilla was grilled to create some crispiness on the outside. I was a frequent visitor of this location when it was Young Hickory (RIP), then HOB. When I saw that they had changed names (and owners?), of course I had to give them a try! The interior has been updated to match, but there are still plenty of seats and plugs for working, studying, or hanging out with friends. I didn't catch the name of my barista (who was super nice) but I am glad I got the banana bread latte upon his recommendation! Smooth, delicious and a good balance of flavors to give that banana bread flavor. I would say that the BB latte is not heavy on the 'nana flavor, if you're worried about that. Some may say it could use stronger banana flavor, but I thought my cup was fine. Would definitely get again.
