Really cute quiet little neighborhood park with a butterfly theme. The park is on the smaller side, but has everything a toddler would need to be entertained. There are two structures, one much smaller than the other- both I would say are geared toward toddlers and young kids. There are also swings, and a sand box. The whole surface is padded which is also nice for the young ones. I loved the butterfly theme including butterfly pictures on the structures, caterpillar statues, and the whole padded surface being butterfly colored. Park is almost entirely gated/walled except for the two entrance areas. There are picnic tables. No bathrooms. read more

Good mid-sized playground for toddlers with a lawn area. Nice mixture of shade and sun. Street parking was a non issue on a weekday morning. All the playground equipment was in good condition. I would definitely bring my kids here if I lived in the area. read more

This park is cute and good for younger kids, even though the play structure says kids ages 5-12. There's not very much to it. Street parking, no bathrooms, just small little park. Play structure mostly is just steps, no monkey bars or poles or anything like that. read more

Mariposa Park is nestled between two quiet residential streets, integrating seamlessly into the surrounding neighborhood. The park was opened in 2012 and appears to be very well maintained. The design makes efficient use of the relatively small space. The park features: * Separate shaded play structures for kids and for toddlers * Regular swings and toddler swings * Lots of benches spread out around the park * Drinking fountains, but no restrooms * Small grassy areas * Clean walkways lined with flowers and other plants The park is designed with a butterfly theme, as "mariposa" is Spanish for "butterfly". The playground is constructed on top of a rubber surface which is painted like a butterfly. Benches around the playground are designed to look like caterpillars. There's also educational signage about butterflies placed in a couple spots around the park. This park is a terrific asset to the neighborhood. The Bay Area needs more like it! read more

i was very happy to see that the renovations to this park had finally been completed. the city dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony for this park took place on june 9, 2012. unfortunately, i missed the ribbon cutting, but i came in time to see some of the children's activities (face painting, arts and crafts) and enjoy some of the refreshments provided by local vendors. this park has been beautifully re-done. i love the nature theme, with stone benches shaped like caterpillars and many different types of flowering plants circumferencing the park. there is a medium-size grassy area toward the back. the middle of the park boasts a playground complete with the "soft surface" so that it doesn't hurt as much when your kids fall. since it's in a quieter part of mountain view, away from downtown, this park is peaceful and quiet and great for just sitting and enjoying a book. read more

I'm proud of Mountain View, the city that I live in, the city that I'm a home owner in, the city where I raised my famiiy. Excellent, Excellent, Excellent. Clean and safe place to bring your dog or children or just to sit outside and relax and enjoy the fresh air

In Mountain View, this is the nicest little park as I've ever been to. Time and time again, the four o'clock magic hour comes a radiant sundown through the trees and I've always had my camera ready for some flash in the pan moment. This park is ideal for entertaining one to five year old tots into safe jungle gyms, slides, swings, sandbox, a caterpillar made of rock to totter on, and being entertained by pictures of butterflies. Or for the adult, lounging on a park bench with a snack or throwing a frisbee too your dog. During off season the air is usually a perfect crisp. #sincerity read more

My friend used to live down the street from this place but I never went until recently. It's funny how you overlook the places right under your nose. It's cool the city decided to make something nice instead doing boneheaded things like useless turn circles at intersections (hey how bout a stop sign to slow people down?) and give people a place to enjoy the community. Playground and turf for kids of all sizes, water area for the warmer months (or masochistically in the winter). read more

Lovely park, with a nice playground that fits different age ranges. The only down side is the fact that the sand area is small and not shaded, so it gets hot and impossible to play in during day time in the summer. read more

Going to rate this based on 5yr girl and 3yr boy. They had fun for a while, but got a little bored of the play equiptment, so they started gathering rocks. I would give this an average rating. Awesome park all around. Excellent getaway for families with young kids. Quiet, simple and relaxing.

I don't remember how it used to look, but I must say its beautiful now. I walk through it with my daughter and dog almost everyday on my lunch. My dog has a spot to drink water, and my daughter loves watching all the other kids playing (she's 11mo). It has a good sized grassy area for a picnic or running around and playing tag. The play structure looks like it keeps the kids I see here entertained and active. I will have to come here one day when I have time to play with my daughter and dog. read more

I love this little park. My sister lives around the corner so it is very convenient to bring my niece and my dog here. They have a cute sandbox, swings and two play areas, one for toddlers and one for older kids. They have a grassy area for dogs and also provide poopy bags. read more

This is one of the cutest parks! It is small but really great for sand play and is just the right size for small children. The only drawbacks are that the park is not fully enclosed and there are no bathrooms. There are a few trees that shade and there is a small but nice grassy area for running, ball playing, etc. The butterfly theme is just really cute and we even found a fuzzy caterpillar for the little ones to look at while we were there! Our sand toys were a hit and lots of kids were drawn to playing in the sand box. This is a really sweet park. read more

Definitely a cute neighborhood park!! Moms, get coffee and a pastry - and let your kiddos run free!! They have a cute sand play area with a faucet, soft ground padding in the play structure, nice grassy area with clean polished landscaping, and all of this is enclosed within a gate fence! Absolutely adorable, butterfly themed park. The play structures are really geared towards younger babies and tots, making this a perfect play space for the under 5 years old crowd. It could be a little better fenced off from the street but at least it is in a relatively quiet neighborhood. Great little park. This park has a colorful rubber surface that is great for tag, a few trees, a bit of green space, as well as a sand/water structure. Although it is probably targeted at younger kids the variety of activities keeps even our mid-elementary kids entertained. It's small compared with Questa or Rengstorff, but we keep getting drawn back here since it's much more peaceful and keeps the kids entertained. Overall just a great use of a little space. read more
