My dog and I love visiting different parks together. Juana Briones Park is a very cute 4.1 acre neighborhood park. It has lots of park benches and picnic tables. Just passing by and had to stop. I'd love to hear the story of why the good old train got taken out of this park - I'm sure the unoriginal play structures in its place are of the safest variety - yawn. I AM grateful the cool bridge is still here after decades gone by. That was the best for playing three billy goats gruff and pretend pirate sailing. It would have been nice to linger on the lush lawn - but when it gets warmer. read more

Briones Park was renovated within the past couple of years, and now boasts a couple of top-notch climbing areas for kids in the 2-10 age range. They've got tons of clean sand, a fun little water feature, high slides and low slides, a few different climbing walls, a large wooden bridge where little boys and their goofy dads can play "the three billy goats gruff" and of course also the fun little yellow train structure. I would go all the way to 5 stars for Briones but for a few tactical misses including: so-so picnic table options, no bathrooms and no fences on either Arastradero or Maybell. Still: it's a very good neighborhood park for young climbers and you will want to check it out. read more

If it had a restroom like it should, this would be one of the most perfect playgrounds I have ever been to. The fact that it has no bathroom is the most lame thing I think I have ever seen at a playground...or NOT seen in this case. Huge huge grounds with tons of stuff and not one bathroom???? Seriously!???? Stupidity x 100!!!! Aside from that and the fact that the only reason we usually end up leaving prematurely is due to no fricken bathroom! This playground rocks. Huge space for tossing a ball, Frisbee etc.....2 separate playgrounds and play structures for all ages from about 3-12. The water feature is what most kids gravitate to so being your sand toys! Oh....and make sure you all go to the damned bathroom before coming here! (so stupid) read more

Nice small Juana Briones elementary school neighborhood park. Green lush grassy playing field with several park benches. Nice large children's play structure. Several picnic tables by the play area. Nice park to stop and have lunch at or relax and read there when the weather is nice. Fond memories of my son playing at Briones park when he was just a lad. read more

The park has a lot of beautiful natural space and play areas for children of all ages. Some of them are quite run down and the little wooden bridge on one of them made me nervous, as there were no supports if the wood failed. The sand was clean and recently raked. The bathrooms were disgusting, though. The toilet was overfilled with toilet paper and someone vandalized the changing table with some weird substance. I did report to the city in hopes they'll be able to take care of this. read more

My kids think this playground is a lot of fun. They particularly enjoy the water play table in the sand area, the little playhouse in the tot lot and the climbing wall in the big kid area. The problem is we never get to hang out here for long because the place has no bathroom and my 6-year-old's blabber seems to be set to alarm at full 15 minutes after our arrival. My other issues with this playground is that the park itself opens out onto very busy Arastradero (not good if you have a kid in a bolting phase) and on a very hot day, this is not a place you want to be. This fact will change eventually but, my kids probably be too old to hang out there once the shade finally grows in. I do think it was a little odd though that the city would invest what I'm sure was quite a bit of money on first rate playground equipment and not install a place for the little bladders be emptied. read more

A great big open grass park to bring dogs and children alike. Two different playground areas for kids and a big grass open grass area to throw around a ball with Fido. Multiple picnic tables and park benches if that's your thing. Plenty of shade from the large pines. There weren't too many people here when I went either so it was a nice place to be on a sunny California afternoon. read more

this was my favorite playground growing up.... keith, one of my good childhood friends called me recently and asked if i remembered all the summer nights we spent playing hide & seek or Red Rover in this park... how could i forget??? there's just something so special about this little patch of greenery and swings besides all the good memories. its fun! there's a jungle gym, the choo choo train, twirly swings, lots of grass space for tag, water balloon wars, picnics, birthday parties. i think i even told my mom once that i wanted to set up a pup tent and live in this park. i feel blessed to have experienced such a great childhood.... and this park was a big part of that. read more

I spent my childhood at this park, I remember when there was a giant train...I never got tired of exploring that thing, then they tore it down, and built a TON of trains, and SLIDES, its awesome!!! I don't get as much use out of the playground as I once did, but its still an excellent park for walking my dog, and its a very safe neighborhood thats great for kids. Juana Briones Park is a wonderful space in between Maybell and Arastradero, with a footpath across, located by the fire station. It was renovated several years ago and now features lash green loans and trees (some older trees on the Maybell side and newly planted apricots towards Arastradero), two children playgrounds with climbing rock and colorful train station, some benches and picnic tables. Back in the late 1800s this used to be an apricot orchard. Many pass it by driving along the Arastradero-Charlston corridor without giving it a second thought, but if you're on foot, it's a nice spot to get some shade and some rest on a hot sunny day. read more

I recently discovered this park because it's across the street from where my daughter goes to physical and occupational therapy. There's so much to love about this park, and I've only really explored half of it so far! The playgrounds that back up to Maybell Avenue are amazing and in relatively good repair. The one for older kids has two large twisting tube slides and one open slide and you can climb all the way up to a tower; it reminds me of a castle. The smaller playground is for toddlers and when you get to the top of the steps, there's a little "house" up there with a table and a bench! There's swings for big kids and babies, sand with a water feature, and a stationary train to climb in and out of! There's also a huge grassy area and lots of lovely, tall redwood trees. I can't wait to explore the rest of the park soon! read more

Awesome Playgrounds! Two main play areas. One for little and elementary and another for elementary + kids. Pete and I were totally entertained by the elementary + kid's area which boasts a huge climbing rock and 2 gigantic slides. The younger kids area has fun train and sand w/ water area. The elementary age structure was also lots of fun with some items that they don't have in San Jose Parks - the fireman's pole being one. I would drive to Palo Alto just to go to this park. read more

Great park. Play structures are varied, big, and interesting. Lots to do and explore. My kids would come back every day and ask to go to the park "with the train." Main downside is that there are actually two play areas with play structures and they are quite a distance from each other. Impossible for one person to watch kids at both sites, so be aware if bringing more than one kid. read more

I go here a lot and it's a phenomenal park. It has two areas. A nice big play area for little kids, (Even has a stationary train!), and a part for older kids that also includes a basketball court. The fun in this park is endless for all ages. The upkeep on the park is questionable. They maintain the grass and everything outside, but the bathrooms are pretty dirty. Other than that, it's great. But be careful of the water fountain near the main entrance, because it doesn't work well. (someone stuffed rocks in it for some reason and they never fixed it). Anyway, a great park. read more

Nice park with fake rock climb and train

My boys really enjoyed this park. There was a lot for them to play on. My youngest son loved thd stationary train. My older son really enjoyed the two slides that seemed taller than normal. Lots of trees and thd train area has a canopy over it. The park was quiet and peaceful. They have two play area on each side of the park. Thd other structure has more things to climb on and swing from. My only complaint is that there aren't enough benches where you can sit and keep an eye on the kids without obstructed views. There are plenty of places to stand and clearly see them in the shade. read more

Park is maintained and clean for the children. I'm glad they have an assortment of equipment for the different range of all groups.

Fantastic park with grass area for local sports team practice, jungle gym areas for three age groups, approx 12 mo-2y, 3-10, and 11+. Always clean. Water feature is tuned off due to drought but rain still a pretty cool feature especially for kids enamored with trains. Crowd ok for the most part though occasionally there's the parent/caregiver blasting their conversation on speakerphone or older kids playing chase and kicking up the sand near the lil babes. Great option for picnic day out. Bathrooms available also. read more
