I recently attended an event in this park and it's a beautiful park. There are lots of spots to hold your events and a big kids play area. The kids play area has different sections for different ages so almost all day ages will have something to play. The park is clean. The parking could get tight but it's manageable. Attended a birthday party in one of the buildings there and it was great! The playground area is right across from the exit doors so it's easily accessible for kids to run back and forth from playground to event room. It's a very large park and very nice layout. Enjoyed my time there. read more

I haven't been to this park in a while and I was pleasantly surprised to see that it's been refreshed with additional artwork and a new playground! They've replaced out the sand and leveled out the areas so there isn't a long drop. Ponderosa is a large park with a small parking lot. No worries, there is plenty of street parking. Here is the run down: 1. Bbq/picnic area, not sure reservation is required? 2. Restroom on site. 3. A few play structure, tennis and basketball court, horseshoe, bocci ball. 4. Large grass area to run around. Ponderosa is an older park that could use an upgrade, never the less, still a good park. It's well maintained, didn't noticed any trash or graffiti. read more

This park is AWESOME!!!! It's located in a residential area so it feels very private, adjacent to a school and there are lots of greens to run around! The park is also pretty clean with reasonably clean restroom, play area, volleyball net and sink with running water. There are 3 picnic areas available to reserve, each come with good size grills and the area is enough for 40-70 people depending on which area you reserve. The smallest one, fit 40 people is only $40 to reserve, quite a steal! Alcohol is allowed in the picnic area in conjunction with meals..n only limited to wine n beer. Will certainly go back for more park and picnic time here, such a great spot! read more

Sunnyvale has the some of the best parks in the south bay. Me and my family has been to this park twice. Every time we have came here we had a great time. There's a nice little play ground for the kids to play. They also have a basketball and tennis courts. If your a sunnyvale resident they have a in door area that you can rent out for party's. over all it's a nice fun park .if i'm in there area a kids want to play i will be coming to this park. read more

Me? I am a sucker for parks...love them..these little scapes away from the crowd, a sanctuary of sun n green. Pretty to walk its perimeter...many about, with children and parties, little ones on the slide n swings... Lots of spaces to chill, get some vitamin D, and relax on the grass. very nice park in sunnyvale! i came for an outdoor group potluck picnic and we couldn't have had better weather, or a better picnic spot for our event. it was sunny, with temps in the low-mid 70s, perfect picnic weather! our reserved area was underneath several trees which was helpful esp to those sensitive to sun or dressed in heavier clothing (expecting chillier temps since it was a bit overcast earlier in the morning). there is a proper bathroom structure in the center of the park, with separate men's and women's facilities, both providing soap, running water, clean toilet stalls, and toilet paper (more like tissue paper since it came out in singles instead of on a roll). there was also a fairly large playground structure which had slides and a jungle gym, perfect for small and bigger children. parking is free in the small dedicated lot right by the picnic areas, but it fills up, so you may have to park on the street, which is only a few extra feet away. i'd love to come back and host an event or just throw a blanket on the grass and sip some wine and nosh on some snacks. read more

Fun little park. Clean and lots of shade. Pleasantly busy.

This park is beautiful, and fun. A great place to walk a dog, or a cat, in my case (in his stroller). A lot of people let you pet their friendly dogs too! If you love watching squirrels, this is an ideal place to do it. Some of them are very friendly and come right up to you. They're used to having people around. See them get all chubby for the winter! The playground has that great rubber surface under it that feels so soft and nice under the feet. That stuff is expensive to put in, too. With all the beautiful lawn, purple fountain grass, and redwoods, it's very scenic. A wonderful place to take pictures. There are shadows because there are so many trees, but a creative, skilled photographer can get around that. My only complaint about this park is the lack of a body of water. I love parks with water. read more

This is quiet a gem of a park! It's close to where I live and has everything you can think of in a park! Located in the middle of a neighborhood it has a great safe and peaceful feeling. Things it includes: - tennis courts - basketball courts - big open fields - bbq pits - play grounds - picnic tables - bathrooms - benches Everything! Everything is very well maintained and I think they have a small community center too where you can take classes. When I went after work with the dog it was pretty crowded but you still had your own space since its pretty spread out in a big open area. Lots of kids riding their bikes and running around. This is definitely a stop on my running route now! read more

The playground was updated with new play structures a couple years ago, so it has a cleaner and more modern feel to it. I haven't seen any Segway polo for a while, but the last time I watched a match I found myself standing next to Steve Wozniak. Still a great park. read more

Best park ever! 2 tennis courts. 1 full bbl court. 2 swings and a couple of slides. Humongous field of grass and BBQ areas. The tables have outlets. So bring your boombox and have a fiesta! There's also a track to run on at the school and if you like to dunk some balls the school's bbl hoops are short so it makes you feel like an all star. I like to go an hour before sunset and throw my Frisbee around. It's a good way to get some fresh air before dinner time. read more

Great community spot and nice park

Well this park is in my neighborhood so that's why I take my 2 year old daughter there . It's not gated so you basically need to chase your child around if they are still in the baby stage . There's another park(Raynor Park) in Sunnyvale that has their baby area gated , so that's why I mentioned it . Also the kids are very bad there (the big ones at least) . . . I met a nice mother there recently with her cute daughter , and she lives in the neighborhood, so it's not a bad crowd, just not all that great . This is my park to go to when I'm just too tired , but need to take my daughter outside to play , and already in my neighborhood. It's also clean too . . read more

Basketball Review Only: One full court, not many people play here. It's caged off and has manual lights...basically every 15 minutes or so you have to turn it back on during the night. Lights end at around 10pm as well. One court is double rim, while the other isn't. WTF?! Anyway, if you wanna get a private game of you and your friends it's koo. But if you're looking to run a couple games with other folks I suggest going to another park. read more

This park doesn't seem like much from the street, but once you actually enter the park, it's very beautiful and clean and peaceful, and if you never take the time to visit, you have really missed the boat. Some people who live on land have certainly earned this fate, those who aren't connected to the real world of news, events, or the knowledge of training animals to obey your commands, or the well known 'Dog Whisperer,' Cesar Millan's show, who shows people how to train out of control dogs. Two of my children were at the park yesterday when three large dogs, who were not leashed, saw my 13 year old son as chicken feed, and ran up to him jumping over him and barking, nearly toppling him over, and then barked ferociously exposing their ferocious canines, and then proceeded to chase him, like a pack of wild dogs hunting their victim. My son ran for his life, and continued to do so until he reached the elementary school, and hid behind a building. His older sister caught up with him to offer comfort. And the dog owner, a woman who clearly has no control over her dogs, nor any compassion for children or any humans, never apologized but was afraid the police would be called. For anyone reading this blog, let me point out the fear a child faces when overcome with three large frightening barking dogs, and if you are a dog owner, and don't obey the leash laws, or think it's ok to let your dogs run lose in a public place, and obviously have no control over your animals, then you shouldn't have them to begin with. For all the readers out there, my son has spent most of his childhood living in ICU from a seizure disorder, and he has an implant in his chest for this reason. Frightening him can bring on a life threatening seizure. So please, next time you see your dogs barking or chasing someone down, think deeply; does this person have disabilities that prevent him from understanding how to act when terrified, or will my animals frighten someone so badly, that they could run into a street and by injured by traffic, or run into the arms of a dangerous person lurking in the shadows? Yes those are all things one should consider when you take your dogs out of your house, or they leave the confines of your yard. This dog owner has earned the SHAME ON YOU award of the year. Lucky her I was not there to give her a piece of my mind. This park needs a sign that reminds dog owners of the leash laws, no matter what area of the park it may be, where dog owners think they can unleash their canines to get the exercise they need, because there are children present, and people come here to enjoy themselves, not to be chased down by a pack of uncontrolled beasts. read more

This park is right behind Ponderosa Elementary School in Sunnyvale. I parked in the school's parking lot, but I was able to go through the gate to the park in the back. There was a sign that said "Field Closed," but looks like no one listens to it because there were lots of people on the field. The park is pretty big, tons of space for lots of big parties. We came because the reviews said there was a sand volleyball court, but we were disappointed because there wasn't a net. :( We ended up just playing football on their huge field. It was pretty fun, and I expect to be back sometime when the weather's nice! :) read more

On of my favorite parks. Close to my house. We bike there and stop at the park to chill for a few. Very clean and green. Not too crazy busy either. Tennis courts that are always full. Basketball court. Big field for soccer (i am assuming). Lots of shade area and places for kiddos to place. Plenty of benches and grass for a picnic. read more

I love running and doing exercises at this park! People are very friendly and you can do lots of running and jogging align with some push up bars and more to train hard, come early in the morning and the smell from the trees will make you feel more alive read more

Great little park for kids under 5. :) The play structures are close together so you can keep an eye on more than 1 kid at a time. I also think they're shorter/ ideal for toddlers, which is fine by me. Plenty of sand for kids to play with. Bathrooms and water fountains were conveniently located nearby. Parking was easy to find. This is pretty nice park. It's next to a school and has soccer fields, tennis courts, BBQ area and playgrounds. The playground equipment is decent, sort of a mix of old style and new style. There is a large play structure for older kids, a smaller one for toddlers (though all the toddlers seem to play on the big one), 4 swings (2 regular, 2 baby), a stand-alone twisty slide, and a few other things that kids can climb on/ride on. There is also a building with bathrooms! There are a lot of big redwood trees so this is a good park for shade around the edges, but the play structures can still get hot on warm days. It feels safe and well maintained. One random thing that I like about this park is that there is a lot of ethnic diversity, many languages being spoken, and various people doing cultural dance. read more

However, today we had a party for our daughter and the public works employee (Ramon Oliveras) was extremely rude to the point that he called the police for no reason! The police showed up and apologized for the park workers behavior and left. read more

I absolutely love this park. They do have an older play ground (not the newer, plastic types, they have the wooden types with the metal slides that can get hot. I think they have one or two plastic slides), lots of sand, a sand volleyball court, horse shoe court (or alley, or space, don't know what it's called!) basketball court and tennis court. They have a big area for picnics too. I always see lots of people walking their dogs here, and many of them are off-leash and people don't seem to mind as long as they're well-behaved. read more

this place has become our favorite for our evening walks, after a tiring day.

Every now and then, we take our pups on a walk over here. There are tons of trees, so it can be a nice scenic walk. The playground is perfect for kids of all ages. It's sanded, so look to get sand in your shoe if you go anywhere near the playground. Tennis courts are always busy here, especially in the afternoons. We try to nab a court early; otherwise, we end up waiting for hours. read more
