Pros: instead of chips and salsa, you get free little dishes of ceviche and (very) hot sauce; there was a nice mix of Anglo and Hispanic folks; and the Molcajetes Mar y Tierra was loaded with shrimp, beef and chicken (swimming in a rich, flavorful and not too spicy sauce). Next time I'll try the paella - that looked pretty good too. Cons: not much. I really enjoyed myself - Don Miguel's is truly different - a Mexican seafood restaurant. It's probably about the best you're going to do for seafood in Indiana! Beware that the decor is charmingly hole in the wall, and the ceviche servings are huge.

This place is okay. I had heard some very terrible things about Don but I'm pleased to say it's not too bad. However it's not that great either. Portions are smaller than accustomed at most Nayarit style restaurants. Service seems slow but attentive. Prices are the same. Don is one of this places that I can say I tried it it wasn't bad but I'm not going back. I cannot not recommend this restaurant, I'd rather drive to the Chicago area for Nayarit style Seafood. Portions are much larger, food has a much better flavor.

Shrimp in a beer and chiplote sauce. A little bit of heat and very good.

Los peores mariscos que he probado, además de caro y tortillas crudas. Jamás volvería

Amazing! Staff is great and the food is excellent. Definitely would go back again. One of the best Mexican restaurants in the Elkhart area.

Our water was tap with no ice and didn't taste very good. I ordered a lemonade which was okay, but it had a paper straw with a weird texture that took away from the quality of the lemonade. I would rather them have used reusable, washable plastic/metal straws instead of the paper straws they used, especially for what is supposed to be a high-end restaurant. My fork was also dirty and not washed well enough. That's the bad out of the way, but there was definitely some upside. The food was phenomenal. The Margherita pizza was the best that I'd ever had, and the chicken parmigiana was fantastic. Everything came out fresh and hot. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful with the menu, and we had a total of 4 different workers who came up to us for one reason or another. (I didn't ask for any managers or anything don't worry lol) Overall, the food carried the experience for me. It was good enough to go back to, but getting the rickety table, dirty fork, and paper straw was very disappointing for the supposed high-end quality of the restaurant. I don't think I'll go back, hope other customers have a better experience for the price point.

I'm glad they were open a little later than average. I was delighted to eat a smoked brisket burger. That thing must've been 6 inches high. It was a monster. My sweetie loved the fish tacos. They have an amazing wasabi, mayo sauce that goes with them. The middles split a prime rib Mac and cheese. They described it as "real American food" with a smile and a twinkle in their eye. That means it's delicious. It's actually a bacon prime rib, mac & cheese, and they don't even mention the bacon because the prime rib is so good. Very filling. I took a sample and it is probably the best tasting meat augmented mac & cheese I've ever tasted. The smokiness just does something amazing there. I like the background music. I like the barn, Midwest, rustic ambience. It was a delicious experience. I had to share about it online with some Japanese folks because of their recent enthusiasm for American "cheese violence". I asked if that magnificent burger qualifies as "meat violence".

I finally decided to try the Chubby Trout tonight…read more I was greeted by a couple of friendly and smiling faces at the door. I was Seated right away and introduced to my waitress, Taylor, immediately. Taylor deserves special accolades. She was so friendly and caring; she made my dining experience special. Thank you Taylor!! Taylor was awesome; she was friendly, always checking on me and sincerely concerned about my satisfaction. She was willing to do anything to make things right if I wasn't happy with something. First I ordered the Crab Cakes as an appetizer. Then I ordered off the specials menu; a Japanese spiced Branzino dish. The crab cakes were somewhat disappointing. Mostly filler and not much crab taste. Sometimes the taste actually resembled a tuna fish sandwich. The remoulade sauce that came with the crab cakes was really tasty. I wasn't really happy with the branzino dish. The fish was cooked pretty well, but "in my opinion" It had too much seasoning and the seasoning had an off flavor. Could just be my personal tastes. The restaurant has a lot of seating, little nooks and corners and a bar with seating. Plenty of quiet areas and areas to gather as a large group as well. Even though I didn't have great food choices today; I'm pretty sure while I'm in town this weekend, I'll go back and try some different dishes. See you all soon!!
