I don't live here, but I might need to move here just to be near this restaurant. Jokes aside, this place is it. If you haven't been here and like Italian food, stop searching, close the app now, and drive to this restaurant (maybe check for a reservation first). I came here with a larger group and every single person loved their food. Our server Brendan was fantastic and helpful, and gave us plenty of recommendations and customized them for what we were looking for. Though I'm sure there are other great choices, we generally followed his lead and we were very glad we did. Several of the group ordered the salmon and argued it might be the best salmon they've ever had. I got the rigatoni vodka and it was amazing. We also had the goat cheese appetizer and I'm still dreaming about that one. Also got branzino which was another hit. I'm convinced you can't go wrong here. Prices reflect a nice Italian place, but they are absolutely fair for the quality here. I regret not getting pictures before devouring everything, but hopefully you get the point. Osteria Amici is a great, new, and classy Italian restaurant near downtown Elkhart, Indiana, an up and coming foodie destination in NW Indiana! After hearing about it on the news, my boyfriend's dad made reservations for the 4 of us to celebrate his wife's birthday. It was very busy so it was a good thing we made reservations! The entrance is a little hard to find but once you make your way inside, the massive wine and alcohol section, timeless interior, and open kitchen concept wow you from the get go! I especially liked being able to see the pizza oven from our dining table. The staff was very professional and very in-sync, which is all the more impressive as Amici hasn't been open for business very long! The birthday gal in our party, received a birthday card, all signed by the staff. She also received a complimentary scoop of pistachio gelato for dessert at the end ($4). We shared the olive appetizer ($9), the meatball appetizer ($14), and the chopped Toscana salad ($16). I hate olives so I can't attest to how good they are, but they all looked pretty! I wish they gave us 4 meatballs instead of 3 which would have made it easier to share. Maybe make the amount of meatballs an option to change? I split the piccante pizza ($21) and truffle pasta with added chicken ($27) with my boyfriend. He preferred the pasta while I loved the pizza. The curved pepperoni's held onto the hot honey drizzle, which was a delight, and the bread of the pizza was definitely high class and perfectly wood-fired. The homemade pasta noodles were also fantastic. His parents had the carne pizza ($23) and the chicken entree ($27). Then we split a massive slice of tiramisu ($10), absolutely drenched in rum! This really put me over the edge into very full territory. My poor, poor tummy got so full by the end. In the beginning, however, I was famished! So even though I left very full, I wish they provided complimentary baskets of bread. Bread and olive oil would have been a very nice touch. One other note I have is that Osteria Amici should also advertise the option to add additional protein to various dishes. Also, the music, while jazzy and appropriate, was a bit too loud. Otherwise, we had a great birthday dinner on a late, summer Friday night here and wish for their success in the new dinner scene in Ellhart! read more

Me and my girlfriends have been wanting to dine in here since it opened. The vibe in there is so classy, cozy, and warm. We did share a carne pizza, which did not make the cut in the pics but it was very flavorful. My entree was the pappardelle alla ragu and omg it was to die for. The short ribs in it *chefs kiss*! I accompanied my tiramisu with an espresso martini at the end which was the cherry on top. There's nothing they could've changed to make our experience better. Service was fast and pleasant. First off, hats off to Alecia, who was beyond amazing...bubbly, accommodating, knowledgeable and attentive. Bravo! I had the meatballs and kale salad. He had the mushroom pea pasta and we shared the rice balls. Everything was delicious. Went on a Friday evening. Had reservations so no wait. Ordered the meatballs for an appetizer and they were wonderful. Ordered pasta next, it was ok. What struck me most is that we were not offered any bread. Every Italian place I've been to has given some sort of bread with my pasta meal. Not here, just a bowl of pasta at the tune of $36.00. Didn't know about this restaurant but a friend took me for my birthday. It was a wonderful surprise. The food was excellent. I started with the risotto croquettes. They were battered with a very light batter a wonderful risotto in a flavorful pomadoro sauce. For my main I had the rigatoni ala vodka. The sauce was rich without being heavy. Very flavorful. My friend chose the aqua pazzo. A wonderful sea food stew in a light broth. The service was friendly & efficient without being overly attentive. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu. Since it was my birthday I was treated to a free scoop of sorbet with a candle and a card signed by the staff. I The restaurant was crowded but it was warm & inviting. Decided to finally try Amici, we've been eager to since it's opening. It did not disappoint! We were impressed with the decor and vibe as soon as we walked in. It has an industrial vibe while still feeling warm and inviting. I got the limoncello spritz and my husband got a mojito, both were delicious but the limoncello drink was the best. For appetizers we got the arancini and calamari. The calamari was cooked to perfection! Not too breaded and not rubbery at all. The arancini was also incredible. For dinner I got the Quattro formaggi and it was the best pizza I've ever had in my life. I don't say that lightly, I've tried a ton of pizza in my life and this takes the cake. We were first timers, just looking to try a good red wine at the bar rail from their extensive wine list after not finding a seat upstairs at the rooftop. Nathan graciously lead us downstairs and got us two bar rail seats. The gentleman seated next to me was unpleased we sat in these open seats, and unfortunately took it out on our wonderful bartender and both GMs. Everyone handled the situation with grace and professionalism, which spoke volumes to this establishment. The atmosphere was great! We had dinner here on a rainy Thursday evening. The moment you walk into the lobby and then the restaurant, I felt like I was in a different place other than Elkhart- very swanky vibes! We were greeted right away.
