First of I will take full responsibility for making the choice to try this restaurant. Very disappointed in the food that I ordered. I ordered a mojarra frita plate and a tostada mixta. Something very simple. When I try a new place, I like to keep it simple. I feel if they can't get the simple right, then there's no reason to go back. So let's start with the mojarra plate; I felt like they served me a fried goldfish, which by the way was $12.99. The mojarra was very bland. It lacked flavor. Now let's get to the tostada mixta; anytime I pay $12.50 for a tostada, I expect it to have avocado. Which by the way it didn't have any avocado or flavor. Now it's time to get to the service; whenever you dine in, they offer you a soup as a starter. Which by the way is very delicious. I know because I've been to the Lynwood location. The name of the starter soup is taliban. Let me tell you, it's a must have. When I asked the person answering the phone if I was gonna get a taliban with my order, he said I could get one, but would have to pay for it. How is it that when you dine in, it's on the house? But when you order take out, you get charged for it? Makes no sense to me as the customer. And they wonder why their customers have rated them so low... Makes me wonder if they have some non-Sinaloenses preparing the food, as their claim is Sinaloense style food. By the way, I'm from Sinaloa and they are nothing like us... This is my second time coming to this place. I love it! The food is delicious and so are the micheladas! The food is worth the price. If you are ever near Paramount California, this is your place to go for fresh seafood. The quality of the food is exceptional. I went with a party of 10. The waitress was able to split our checks with no problems. She did not mind us paying separate. Great Customer service and she answered all our questions and was able to modify any plates. Came here for a work dinner and it was an experience that I never would have expected. The venue isn't anything to surprise you- it could have been a Denny's 10 years ago that's now selling fish. That said, you're not going for the ambiance. The food is what is going to bring you back for a second and third time. I ordered ceviche that was presented in a hallowed out coconut shell. A bit of a "chachki", in delivery but the taste was second to none. They honestly fill this thing to the rim and you get your money's worth in taste and amount. A remarkable meal for any fish lover. It's hard to do fish well when you're miles from the nearest coast. In land fish spots are hit-or-miss and often it's defrosted tilapia that's been buttered and limed. This place is nothing like that. Amazing food, family feel, and a great experience. I'm definitely coming back again. read more

We got cocktail campechana, camarón azul sushi roll and camarón al mojo de ajo while our friends ordered the seafood soup, sushi bean and cheese burrito and nuggets. The food took kind of long in coming and the service was alright at that point but it went bad when the whole meal they totally forgot to bring my boyfriend his camarón azul so he was just watching everyone else eat. That was messed up. We were sharing and trying to flag someone down. Finally our friend walked off to find someone. The sea food / mariscos are the best in town. We had the botana parque it was amazing perfect combination of shrimp. Also had the caldo de camarón con pulpo; perfect on a cold day! Stopped in for a quick meal and some beers before heading home. Service was a bit off this visit. I ordered sushi frito (fried sushi) and a cocktail that was pretty watered down. Ketchup had to be added to it just to give it a bit more flavor. The sushi has never failed me here and that still remains true. However, it took longer than usual for the sushi to arrive. The bucket of beers that were ordered were almost finished by the time they had arrived. In addition to the long wait, there was some confusion/issue with the orders of sushi. Individual orders for sushi were placed by me and a few friends but we soon realized that it would be better to order a plate that came with three rolls rather than one each. We told our waitress to cancel the individual rolls and apply them to this plate but instead she brought the plate along with the individual orders. My friend told our waitress that they were cancelled and as a response she gave him attitude. This is the first time this has happened to us here. Nevertheless, we wrapped up dinner and paid the check leaving a very small tip. As we left, she gave one of my other friends a few snarky looks due to the tip. This could have all been avoided had she not given attitude when told about the error. Mistakes happen and can be corrected. No need for negativity especially when none was given to her for the mix up. On a positive note, the sushi's were great as always with the San Luis still being my favorite from the rolls we ordered. I love the shrimp on top. I've had better visits. I'd be lying if I said I won't be returning for sushi but I can guarantee it will be a while before I do. The sushi is prepared in Peri Sushi which is attached to El Perihuete but since they don't serve beer in that part of the restaurant, we dined in El Perihuete. This review is late but absolutely necessary. Been coming here for the past few years after I moved to this side of town but this week I had the best experience dining here. Came with my family to enjoy some afternoon mariscos & as usual the waitress and staff were welcoming and attentive, even with the lunch crowd. We ordered and our food came right away. Soon after, the owner came by to check up on guest and struck up a conversation with my dad. They started up a dialogue about some familiar history and soon it felt like I was sitting in someone's house having lunch rather than at a restaurant. The hospitality & warmth made us feel so welcome, he even introduced us to his grand babies and brought us a Sushi plate on the house. 10/10 recommend anyone to come here for the food, and 100/10 for the amazing service. read more

I never knew how great this place was until I visited this place tonight. People were waiting outside and sitting and standing inside, and every seat was taken in the dining area. And no one complained of the wait!!! My second visit here was just a to-go order. Ordered the tostada de ceviche de camaron x2, tostada de ceviche mojarra x2, and the tostada Aguachiles camarones. Hubby and I ate a bomb dot com mariscos dinner for less than 30 fish bones. Our first visit here (thanks to yelp*!!!) was because our go-to ceviche place burned down :-( Its a difference between a 10 minute drive versus a 10 minute walk, but its well worth it! When you dine-in you are served this yum house seafood broth and the food after that is just as yum. If you need service, you push the Mariscos El Perihuete easy button and a friendly waitress is there to help you. Hubby and I have our favorites here already. Our only complaint? The homies from Paramount are gonna hunt me down and stomp me out for this one star review. Where shall I start? Hmmm... Absolutely love MEP (Mariscos El Perihuete). Food was a huge campechana (seafood cocktail) and a large shrimp and seafood dinner. It took over fifteen minutes for a waitress to take our order, add another thirty minutes until we finally got our food. No spoons, no tostadas, no table service... no appetizers, and never got our drinks that we repeatedly requested, not once, not twice, but three times we reminded the waitress about our drinks that never showed up to our table. By the time we left, tables all around us were stacked with dirty fishy dishes. The dirty fishy dishes were attracting a ton of flies, guacala, which were also hounding us because of all the dirty fishy dishes next to us. We carefully watched as patrons came and left, and the dirty dishes stacked up as if the dishes were invisible to the restaurant staff. When we showed up, only two far corner tables were stacked with all the dirty fishy dishes. As soon as we ordered, the table next to us finished their meal, and left, more dirty fishy dishes to start fermenting right next to us. The clock started ticking. For over an hour we carefully watched patrons come and go, and the dishes were left to stink, stank, and attract more flies. As soon as a patron leaves, the waitresses sneak up, look at the tables, take any (gratuity) tips that are left by the patrons, but they leave the tables with filthy stinky and fishy dishes to attract more flies, and start their fermentation. In addition, the tables are not sanitized between uses, nobody cleans the tables when a patron leaves, the menus are paper, and the same contaminated menus are reused. Nasty, nasty, nasty. MEP love you guys, but your waitresses are getting really lazy... step it up. Please, step it up. read more

Tacos con pescado, stingray or shrimp: very sizable, but they were all quite boring. Tostadas con mixed mariscos and with octopus: huge, but not particularly tasty. I didn't find the ingredients to be well linked and/or balanced. There wasn't nothing terribly wrong with the above dishes, but I didn't think much of them. Second time coming here still haven't found a place worthy of their seafood. If you know about seafood and flavor you will know. We ordered an empapelado, a plato de camarones culichis, plato de camarón costa azul and half dozen oysters. Food was okay not WOW but definitely wish the plates had more than 5 shrimps specially when paying 16$ per plate. The empapelado had flavor but more juice and butter than actual seafood.
