Camarones Al mojo de aho was delicious!
    Chelsea C.

We stumbled on this spot for a Michelada. Everything was Fresh and delicious. The Miche was very well done. A nice balance of savory and beer. It's a Traditional mariscos restaurant with a wide range of seafood dishes and traditional plates. We really enjoyed our Micheladas, tostada and camarones al mojo de aho. The tortillas weee slightly charred like I like them. The salsas that accompany the plates are made in house and very good.

This place is awful! Horrible service i had to ask twice for my drink because she forgot and she didn't even give me what i asked for. My carne was so burnt it was black. The waitress did not check on us once and it was so empty.

That's about 8 shrimps. Skip this place. Go to perihuete! Better quality and value for your price.

No stars what so ever. Went in cause Google said it was 4 in a half stars. Hell no! Crap and over priced. Bought a large, Large Camaron Coktel. It was a 12 oz cup only filled maybe 10oz. No avocado, caldo tastes like oregano . No limes or napkins inside the bag. Just chips, what am I gonna do with chips? Waitress was sooo rude. I know we are in some sort of recession but this was horrible. Skip this place and head to perihuete. Never again!

OH My Gahh! So I've been in search of a place to have caldos in the chilly days. I came to Mazatlan and had one of their soups and I'm glad I did. The soup was a good portion and I enjoyed every bite. It has sazón! The ambiance is welcoming and the service was great. Everyone with a smile and made you feel at home. I continue to get my hot soups/caldos from Mazatlan. Enjoy!!

The food was ok, their green salsa was very good. The service we got was very bad. We had to get up multiple times to get service.

Wow! New to the neighborhood (just moved from the paved side of Santa Ana), I've been looking for two things...A good Mexican place and a Mariscos spot...looks like I may have found both here in Mazatlan Restaurant Tacos de Governador (steak and shrimp)...This may be the best taco I've ever eaten...This meal... As you walk in, before you place your drink order you are given a small cup of soup with a whole shrimp in it, along with chips and salsa, onions, cilantro, extra sauces, etc...I really recommend the taco de governador & the taco de marlin (just what you think it is)...it's served with a small side of beans. The flavors...even before you add these complimenting sauces...Wow... The coctels are great too! Mazatlan Restaurant, you've made my weekly rotation... Beers $3.25...

OMG I loved the food here. My brother brought us here and I loved the food here. The tacos de gobernador and camarones de agua chile and camarones sinaloense were the best. We ordered a little of everything and we weren't disappointed. Excellent customer service and the best food.

What a dining experience! I've been wanting to check this place out because of the great experiences that I had at another location, in a new center that has since closed. This location is the "original". This location was DEFINITELY a different experience. You know those hole in the wall places that you drive by that are either hidden gems or places you would never set your foot in to? This is one of those places. What kind of dining experience did I have? Getting a seafood soup as a standard appetizer? "Nice" Getting big ass shrimp in the soup? "Very nice" Getting big ass shrimp with the head still attached and the eyes looking up at you as if to say 'Why me?' " Mazatlan nice!" Watching the Laker game with a cold Corona in your hand? "Yes!" Wathcing the Laker game with a cold Corona along with chips and awesome salsa? "I could get used to this!" Watching the Laker game with a cold Corona in your hand, eating chips and salsa and wondering 'Why there is a 3 foot huarache on the wall?' "Wait, how many of these things have I had?" Going to a restaurant with an friendly and attractive wait staff? "Nice" Going to a restaurant with a friendly, attractive wait staff dressed in impossibly short skirts? "Interesting..." Going to a restaurant where the friendly, attractive wait staff in impossibly short skirts clean the restrooms at the end of the nigh? "Surreal" Overall it is an interesting place...very Mexican...please don't take offense to that...I don't mean that as a slight...lot's of beer, women dressed provactively, sports on the big screen...not unlike Hooters or numerous other places...just with Mexican food instead of fried crap. The staff will likely speak to you in Spanish unless and until you speak to them in English. They are very nice though. The food is good but not great. I had chicken enchiladas and chicken tacos....rice, beans and a "salad" on the side of course....lots of chips with 4 types of salsa to choose from...lime and onion on the side. Overall, very fun...would have been better if the Lakers won, though.

    Pescado Zarandeado!!! Delicioso!

Great Experience! Service is very friendly/attentive and great eye-candy! It is a very casual spot with delicious authentic Mexican food. You MUST try the following: -fish ceviche -marlin tacos -tacos gobernador -tacos de carnitas/chicharron -guacamole salsa -request thick tortilla chips and REFRIED BEANS (to die for!) -PESCADO ZARANDEADO You have the option to get small or large sized tacos. I personally prefer the small tacos. The tortilla is slightly toasted on the grill and it has CHEESE!!! Try it with their salsas-de piquin, habanero, and soy sauce mix-my personal fave! Their beans are sooo authentic! They taste just like my moms Sinaloense Refried beans and go perfectly with the thick freshly fried tortilla chips. The pescado zarandeado is full of flavor!!! MUST try! Enjoy your food with their extensive Mexican beer selection! Cheers! Provecho!

I've only been here once, but just from that I can already tell I'm going to want to come again. I came with my boyfriend just off of a whim that we wanted seafood. I live near here and always used to pass by on my way to the dentist, doctor, grocery store, etc. I looked it up on yelp and saw some pretty good reviews, so I suggested we try it. My boyfriend LOVES seafood, especially coctel. So we both ordered that. I also ordered a taco de marlin just to try it because I had never really heard of it. It was really good! We also really liked the coctel. It was a little different, but I liked it. My boyfriend also though it was good (got his stamp of approval) and I trust his judgment on seafood. The service was pretty great. There was limited parking, but we made it work. When we got in, we were attended to pretty well. It was busy and there was a game going on, but the staff was nice and kept us updated on wait time. When we got seated, we received great service and got all our questions answered. I would definitely recommend this place. It is a "hole in the wall" but I give it two thumbs up. I always hated walking by there though because of the liquor store next to it (I've run into creepy dudes) but overall it's not too bad. I've been meaning to take my mom there so hopefully she'll love it too.

They're known for their handmade flour tortillas that have an amazing bite to them. They were just awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand award this week for their excellent, affordable food. One thing that I appreciate about their tacos is that their meats have varied textures. The costilla (rib meat) is a crowd pleaser as you get the taste of the grill/charcoal. They have tripe that is crispy with corn nut texture. Cabeza (face meat) has a stewed texture. Unlike most places in LB, there is two hours free parking conveniently located across the street at the Harvey Milk Community Lot. We ordered caramelos with the poblanos inside, as well as their horchata. Tortillas are some of the best I've had. Super soft and flavorful from the grill. The fillings and salsa were good too, but it was really wet, and the bean ratio especially compared to the meat, was a little off. Always am going to want more meat. Horchata was unique since it was coconut based. Overall solid spot with patient staff. Tacos La Rueda is still better, but will be back when in Long Beach.

I stopped by on a Friday afternoon and waited about 20 minutes for a table. The wait was well worth it because each dish offered an explosion of flavors. My favorite dish was the birria, with the salmon ceviche as a close second. The mole was great too, but I'd say the other two dishes were more memorable and something I'd return for. I can't recommend the birria enough, as the flavors were reminiscent of what I've had in Mexico, very authentic. The space is small and can feel a bit tight, but sometimes the best food comes from these types of "hole in the wall" places. Ultimately, I'd say give Lola's a try! The soup here lacks the tastebud awakening zip that Don Chato's has. The ono fish taco experience was my fault... I hate fried fish taco, so I had lofty expectations, but due to the fact that I do not prefer corn tortillas, guacamole or raw onions, led to much disappointment since It has all three. Totally my fault. The butternut enchilada was lacking in the expected savoriness... this is being polite. The potato taquito was okay... but I am not a taquito person, so if you are I would seriously encourage you to try it. The star of the table was the Mexican corn. It may not compete with Cornman in Lincoln Heights, but it was decent. I scraped off the onions and toppings on the ono tacos, put the fish on the flour tortillas that another person didn't want, and topped the fish with refried beans, street corn and a but if the chicken tortilla soup broth to make due. When you are driving more than 30 minutes for this experience, I think you would agree that it was less that a proper way to celebrate a birthday. Oh and if there isn't any street parking. It'll cost you about 9 bucks in the lot. I didn't use the restroom, so I cant review its cleanliness. Our waitress was flawless taking orders and delivering food The restaurant itself has a great layout and an outdoor courtyard complete with propane heaters and umbrellas - I loved that... but my favorite part was out front, no not the seating area in the former parking spaces, nope... it was the collapsed woman on the sidewalk, walking her dog with snot running out of her nose because she was huffing some aerosol can of whatever. The chips/ salsa starter was addictive. Huge basket of fresh warm chips, and a salsa like no other! Chunks of veggies and just the right spice. It was hard to get those chunks on the chips but it was delicious. My carne asada was tasty, a large portion with grilled scallion and rice. I wish some of the "bean soup" had been pureed to be a bit thicker but the broth was good, with a variety of beans. Hubby's dish had an interesting flavor, very spicy. It was open seating when we arrived which majority of the tables was taken where all the television were. The main dining area had a television set up but main bar area was where the action was taking place. We got lucky as there was a table available along the wall with perfect view of the game. Of course it was rain delayed so more time to enjoy food and drinks. Also it was happy hour and taco Tuesday all at the same time. As the game was happening, one of the tequila sponsors was there offering deals. Shot and a jersey. Tony took care of us that night and he was amazing. Made sure that we got everything we needed. Very sweet as well. Happy hour menu offered a good amount of items for a great deal. As well as draft beer and cocktails. Regular menu is great as well which we've had before. Food, an order of the tostada both with shrimp and aguachili. Served with two small tostada and handful of crevice on top. Both were quite tasty and very well flavored in the juice. Also two of the street tacos with birria. They were quite small but did have a major punch of flavor to it. And well priced at 2.50 a piece. Of course the crinkle cut loaded fries with added carne asada. Seemed like it was a popular item as every table had it. It was good but a little skimpy with the topping. Lastly the chicken wings, lemon pepper flavor. Six piece tossed in the sauce. It was good but way too salty for my liking. We still enjoyed everything we had. As we got the shot with the jersey earlier, the person who was affiliated with the sponsor brand was walking around with more shot. I must say, it does hit the spot big time...lol... The crowd was lively with everyone all there for the same reason. The game and good company. First time for happy hour and it was nice. We had a great time and everyone working was the sweetest. We were actually presently surprised with the taste of the food, thinking it might be more Americanized but they actually had very authentic and tasty totopos (tortilla chips). The tomato salsa that came with the chips was also very refreshing. We asked for hot sauce too and the house habanero salsa really packed a punch! We ordered carne asada nachos, pork belly chilaquiles (from the brunch menu), a breakfast burrito, poke, and steamed clams. The steamed clams came in a rich tomato broth and the breakfast burrito was massive. The poke was just okay and the chilaquiles a bit too soggy for me, and the carne asada nachos a bit dry. Nonetheless, presentation and portion sizes were respectable. The last comment is that food here is quite pricey but that reflects the likely high rent of a restaurant in 2nd and PCH. Great location, shoreline village. View of the boats, relaxing and on a Sunday, it's hard to beat…read morethe atmosphere. So I ordered a Bloody Mary and their Version is extremely sweet. So I had to return it . I the ordered a Coronita Margarita and that is/was tasty. They do have many different offerings of tequilas. And honestly fairly priced. I started with the Fondido de queso basically a Chorizo fondue. It was very good, only the chips were stale. Not all the chips so just so you know, I ordered the chicken mole enchiladas. The service has been very accommodating. The flavor from the mole was perfect, smooth rich a touch of heat and chocolate. Very flavorful and with the sides of black beans and rice, a tasty pairing. There is side of sweet corn , completing the plate. Great dish. I arrived at 1130 which apparently was the best time. By noon the place was packed and jumping. TVs for the games and plenty of room, so not so crowded despite the amount of people. Great place for a date , or family/friends gathering.

What an awful Tourist Trap. This is a place that once you come one, you will never return - and…read more the level of service and quality of food reflects that management knowledge. First interaction: They advertise a Happy Hour on M-F from 5-6 PM We had this interaction with a server in the bar. "Can we get an order in before Happy Hour is up?" Server "Of course. (Looking at phone the time on their phone). What would you like?" We order. Drinks are brought over along with the check for full price drinks. Me "Can you please fix this check? It's not 6 yet and you are still on Happy Hour, that's why we rushed over." Server "Oh yeah, today we don't have Happy Hour so there is no discount." Me "What so you mean, we ordered these drinks on Happy Hour and now you are telling us there is no Happy Hour as advertised." Server: "Well, we don't do Happy Hour when there is an event in the area, so they are full price." Second interaction (after waiting 45 minutes for a table in the restaurant). We ordered the "made to order table side guac" for 15.50 for an appetizer. About 10 minutes later, a guac is delivered to the table that was either run through a blender or was taken from a tub with a spoonful of pico mixed in. So much for the advertised table side experience or fresh avocado. The guac we buy at Trader Joe's and from Costco are way better. Third Interaction when ordering an entree. I order enchiladas and they have red or green sauce. I ask, Can I get both red sauce on one and green sauce on the other? Response, "well there's an extra charge for that". Besides being lied to about "Happy Hour" and about the "Table-side" Guac and them being told a basic request is going to cost extra, it's is c extremely clear that this place has no respect for their customers and no expectation that anyone will return. I know the 6 local people in our group will never return.
