Place it's really nasty , the food very poor I ordered a cocktail shrimp with octopus there a bunch of vegetables, but only three little shrimps and very little octopus take water down no flavor my partner asked for free tacos and they brought Marlene tacos that he ordered 4 did you drink a Modelo and that was 72 bucks?! I read in the menu. The cocktail was $16. Not sure how much were the tacos and two beers but that wasn't worth it at all. I will never go back and I do not recommend it at all. read more

I really wanted to love this place but it was just ok. I'm not sure I would come back giving that there are so many options out in Cali. The aguachile was straight lemon, no spice and no flavor. Would not recommend. The oysters did taste very fresh so that was the good thing. My mom and sister had the mojarra Fríta which was good but the rice, beans and fries were not good at all. The rice tasted old and was crusty hard. The flavor was pure tomato sauce. The fries were not seasoned at all and the beans were ok. The staff was very nice and attentive. We stumbled on this spot for a Michelada. Everything was Fresh and delicious. The Miche was very well done. A nice balance of savory and beer. It's a Traditional mariscos restaurant with a wide range of seafood dishes and traditional plates. We really enjoyed our Micheladas, tostada and camarones al mojo de aho. You ever been somewhere and felt uneasy and like u had to look over your shoulder? If you have ever felt like this, it's exactly how we felt when we were sitting here. We came with some friends to have dinner and it definitely wasn't a family friendly establishment more of a I just got out of work and I'm going to the local restaurant to have some beers with my buddies. There were a few men that probably should've got cut off sooner. We tried to make the best of it but once we saw the owner standing in the restaurant watching these drunk men and us trying to enjoy our drinks, we knew we had overstayed our welcome. OH My Gahh! So I've been in search of a place to have caldos in the chilly days. I came to Mazatlan and had one of their soups and I'm glad I did. The soup was a good portion and I enjoyed every bite. It has sazón! The ambiance is welcoming and the service was great. Everyone with a smile and made you feel at home. Restaurant did not smell to well as if the seafood had gone bad. We had different dishes me and my family but my mother had the oysters which did not sit so well. I've been craving ceviche and this was recommended to me. So I went and ordered the shrimp ceviche. The ceviche was just ok. The shrimp was diced and it was more vegetables than shrimp. I good ceviche to me is when the Seafood is cut in big chunks. The one I got were diced and although it was a lot, it had more tomatoes and onions than shrimp. This was a true hole in the wall, parking sucked but the service was good and the beer was cold. It was a bit expensive too. For the shrimp ceviche it was $14. As you walk in, before you place your drink order you are given a small cup of soup with a whole shrimp in it, along with chips and salsa, onions, cilantro, extra sauces, etc...I really recommend the taco de governador & the taco de marlin (just what you think it is)...it's served with a small side of beans. What a dining experience! I've been wanting to check this place out because of the great experiences that I had at another location, in a new center that has since closed. This location is the "original". This location was DEFINITELY a different experience. You MUST try the following: -fish ceviche -marlin tacos -tacos gobernador -tacos de carnitas/chicharron -guacamole salsa -request thick tortilla chips and REFRIED BEANS (to die for!) -PESCADO ZARANDEADO You have the option to get small or large sized tacos. I personally prefer the small tacos. The tortilla is slightly toasted on the grill and it has CHEESE!!! Try it with their salsas-de piquin, habanero, and soy sauce mix-my personal fave! I've only been here once, but just from that I can already tell I'm going to want to come again. I came with my boyfriend just off of a whim that we wanted seafood. I live near here and always used to pass by on my way to the dentist, doctor, grocery store, etc. I looked it up on yelp and saw some pretty good reviews, so I suggested we try it. My boyfriend LOVES seafood, especially coctel. So we both ordered that. I also ordered a taco de marlin just to try it because I had never really heard of it. It was really good! We also really liked the coctel. It was a little different, but I liked it. My boyfriend also though it was good (got his stamp of approval) and I trust his judgment on seafood. The service was pretty great. There was limited parking, but we made it work. When we got in, we were attended to pretty well. It was busy and there was a game going on, but the staff was nice and kept us updated on wait time. When we got seated, we received great service and got all our questions answered. I would definitely recommend this place. It is a "hole in the wall" but I give it two thumbs up. I always hated walking by there though because of the liquor store next to it (I've run into creepy dudes) but overall it's not too bad. I was in LA for work and was driving home to SD when hunger struck. I got my iPHONE out and see what was around me. I found Mazatlan Restaurant and decided to try it. The place is a typical Mexican seafood restaurant in a little shopping plaza. Don't come here for the ambiance nor to see and be seen. I got camarones a la diabla. It was good, but what was strange to me was the mushrooms in the dish. This dish does not come with mushrooms. When was the last time you had mushrooms in any of your favorite Mexican dishes? I think they were adding mushrooms to the dish to add volume to it, rather than adding more shrimp. Old restaurant trick. Anyway, two things I loved there: The beans were divine, light in color and freshly done. Absolutely the best beans I've had in a while and the green salsa for the chips. While waiting I noticed the cook was wearing a mask with his nose exposed. The nose is where the covid virus settles so you might as well not even wear a mask. Anyway, I waited over five minutes to be helped with my food sitting on the counter. Of course by the time I got home the food was cold. My wife indicated that her shrimp was raw. The menu indicated my wife's meal came with a salad, which was non-existent. Food lacked flavor. This was once one of our favorite spots, but it has gone way downhill. It seems the restaurant has their regular clientele so they don't need to try to please anymore. Seems like most restaurants are that way now. Eventually. This is a favorite for a friend of mine and I was lucky enough to be introduced to this place. A small mariscos place whose food is full with flavor. I totally recomend the taco de governador (shrimp and beef). Its marinated to pure perfection and cannot be duplicated. There is no need to add onions or cilantro, its perfect as is. The taco de marlin was a little on the fishy side for me. Tacos are served with a side of beans which are excellent. Oh, almost forgot about the soup they serve prior to this meal. My friends are very serious about their Mexican food and it's gotta be the real deal to be considered. A high school buddy of mine took me there. We were already in Paramount and wanted to find something for dinner. He said he knew of a place that had good carne asada...this coming from a guy who used to own a carniceria with his dad. We pull up to Mariscos Mazatlan, and I'm thinking good steak here? I said, "hey fool, this is mariscos." He says, "I know, but they got good carne asada here too." Okay, then. I ended up seeing something on the menu that I don't normally see...marlin. And they got burrito mojado de marlin ($9.99). I didn't even need to study that menu anymore, I knew what I was gonna get. My buddy ordered burrito mojado de carne asada ($6.00). The burritos come with either red or green sauce on top. I got the red. He got the green. I didn't try his food or anything like that, but the green sauce on his burrito looked real good. He said that's what he always gets. I'm a believer. The red sauce on my burrito was really good, and the marlin, beans, and rice filling the burrito was delicious. I haven't had the chance to go back, but have been craving that food since four weeks ago. If you do decide to check the place out, don't trip on the neighborhood based on it's looks. The waitresses spend time flirting with the male patrons and snacking rather than taking orders. The menu is mainly focused on seafood. I have nothing to say but good things about mazatlan. I grew up in this place so I've pretty much tried almost every dish. Every dish is great and the owners are the best owners I've ever met. They always greet their customers and make sure everything's in order. MUST TRY TACOS DE MARLIN those are the best tacos ever created by man & only mazatlan serves them from what I've seen.
