Spacious restaurant with a decent atmosphere. Stopped by on a Saturday night to find a mariachi band serenading a group of men enjoying copious amounts of refreshing alcoholic beverages. After settling into a booth we ordered the chapuzón mixto, a pastor gordita, and a steak gordita. The chapuzón mixto came with a basket of tostada shells and crackers, and a small cup of special habanero sauce. Spicy, flavorful, and loaded with shrimp. The gorditas were nice-sized but the steak could have used more seasoning. Our waitress was super-sweet and accommodating. Toward the end of our meal a dust-up ensued between a couple of the revelers. The music stopped, chairs and tables were needlessly rearranged, and one cowboy shirt would soon be headed to the cleaners. Stuff happens, right? Terrible place, smells horrible upon entering establishment. That should've been enough to make me run out of there but decided to give it a try anyway. Honestly this place should be ashamed of the food they serve. All sides including the salsa you can tell they were old and been refrigerated for a while. They served us moldy bread. We sent that back and they swore they changed it for a fresh batch and bread was still moldy. Absolutely disgusting and disappointing. Had a surprisingly delicious meal here. Stopped in based on Yelp reviews and was not disappointed. We arrived on a Monday at about 2pm and the restaurant was completely empty which is generally a red flag. We were seated by Claudia, who provided excellent service. We ordered oysters on the half shell. They were fresh but we were underwhelmed with them. (Missed the horseradish) I asked Claudia what the most popular dish was and she suggested the Chapuzon Mix, which included shrimp, Octopus and Oysters. It was AMAZING! The broth it was served in was to die for. It was a little on the salty side, but I loved it nonetheless. My husband ordered the carne asada and it was great! The flavor was exactly what you expect from a grilled steak...carne asada. The margaritas were delicious. The pink umbrella in my glass and the blue in his didn't fall flat on me. I definitely appreciated that little detail. I gave 4 stars because the decorum left a lot to be desired. I will definitely return to this hidden gem. read more

Here goes as to what I have had, Langostinos, Huachinango estilo veracruz I believe, Shrimp al la diabla, and countless other appatizers. It's no longer a BYOB but they serve now. My family and I came here on Mother's Day weekend. It was, as expected, very full. Our waitress was nice, kind of quiet and a bit awkward and the only time we saw her come to our table was when she took our order and brought our food. She did not check on us or refill our drinks at any point throughout the dinner, and we actually had to find her and ask for the check after waiting a half hour after we finished our meal. Our food however, was super good! I had the surf and turf molcajete and it was very flavorful. My sister had the steak quesadillas which she ate every bite of. My parents had the mojarra and also enjoyed it. I'm hoping the service was poor because of how busy they were. I am up for coming back and giving them another chance. read more

Was looking to try a new Mexican restaurant and since my "go-to" was packed, I figured I'd try the new place in town. This place hasn't been open too long and I always see a lot of people on the weekends, so I figured it would be a good spot. Boy, was I wrong!! This restaurant specializes in seafood....if you aren't keen on it, don't go there! There aren't too many recognizable regular Mexican favorites on their menu (think tortas, burritos, guacamole, etc.) so not much to choose from if you don't care much for seafood. When I arrived it wasn't very busy. Took a few minutes for waitress to come to the table and take my drink order. She brought the standard chips and salsa to the table, along with tostada shells and crackers and a scary looking shrimp soup...what I mean by scary is that the shrimp still had its eyes and legs on it! It is featured in a shrimp broth which I found unappetizing (probably because of the eyes/legs thing). It was served in a styrofoam cup, which was tacky considering if it is an appetizer/soup, it should be served in an actual soup bowl. If you didn't know what it was, you would have guessed it was for you to drink... Went the safe route and ordered some shrimp tacos. These were served with tomato, lettuce, cilantro, and onion on them and were a la carte. The shrimp in them was interesting as well; it was breaded, fried, and chopped up. I expected grilled shrimp. Anyways, the shrimp was quite dry probably due to the breading/frying and left much to be desired. Tacos were not very flavorful to my liking and aside from bottled hot sauces, they do not offer any milder sauce than the one served with the initial chips. Seems like they need something to give them a little "kick" and conquer the dryness of the whole thing. Prices were reasonable for the tacos. No actual taco dinner listed on the menu, which was a bummer. Rice and beans can be ordered a la carte, but be prepared to pay more than is customary at other Mexican restaurants in the area. The overall appearance of the restaurant is nice; nothing fancy. Service is mediocre, at best. Lastly, I would like to comment on the greeter. I found it very unprofessional that the gentleman behind the counter remained on a personal cell call the entire time I was in the restaurant. I noticed this from when I came in until when I left. If he was the owner, I found it very unprofessional of him....he could have used his time more wisely to walk around and talk to the the customers who were in the establishment. It looks bad when you care more about a phone call than what the customers think of your place. He could have busied himself with something in the restaurant than to sit talking for the time he was on that call. Would not recommend. There are better Mexican restaurants in the area with competitive pricing, a more extensive menu, and more delectible food than this place. I only give this location 2 stars to towards the environment, other and that the food itself could not save it from the rate I gave it. I just didn't like the quality of the food for the price, I do not think I would pay anything for this food served here. For me it's disappointing.
