Here's a breakdown of my experience. APPOINTMENT I made an appointment online using Google and DJ replied quickly and courteously. He was able to schedule us both at a great time right before the holidays - as requested. PARKING We arrived at noon and there weren't many spots near the actual entrance, but we're always looking for "extra steps," so we didn't mind parking under a tree at the other end of the lot. There's plenty of parking. PATIO There's this cute little patio with tables that leads to the salon. If it wasn't cold out, we could have sat there while waiting our turns. LAYOUT The salon is unlike anything I've ever experienced. It's almost like a little salon or stylist "collective" where each salon seems to have their own suite. This is actually great for those concerned with COVID because you're alone with DJ, the stylist once you enter his salon. It's like a little pod or suite. It feels very private. I wish I took photos to share - I will next time. He has it so nicely decorated in modern yellows and gray. Dog lovers will love the portrait and photos of his beloved pup. SERVICE DJ is awesome! He's hip to what's trendy and really knows his stuff. He has more than 14 years experience and it shows. This was our first visit, we had our hair washed, cut and styled. ADDITIONAL INFO DJ is very personable, which is important to me. The pricing is slightly higher than I've paid at other area salons, but it's totally worth it. I felt like I wasted so much time and money on products that didn't quite work. And failed techniques. I felt my curls definately improved from the start of my process but I was stuck. Like dieting, lol. Okay let's get to my visit! I went to the salon with 2 day old hair. Marisol took her time to find out the history of my hair and my process. She shared her CG journey with me as well. I was doing many things right but I needed to tweak my routine. She started by clipping my hair and trimming from the back working her way up and around...curl by curl. When she washed my hair she used Buildup Buster twice. It's a "clarifier". She said I had a lot of build up and proved it to me. That surprised me because I clarified two weeks ago and I use a CG shampoo twice a week. She washed my hair and conditioned my hair. I told her my hair gets so knotty at the nap of my hair. She said I need to use MORE water. (I'm low porosity). She finger detangled my hair....amazing! And fast too! Not 20 minutes like when I do it, lol. She was very gentle and only used a small amount of conditioner. When your hair frizzes it needs more water. I felt I knew all this but I didn't "apply" everything correctly. She used the Ultra Defining Gel and a tad bit of Styling Cream. Not too much product. She showed me how to refresh without frizz too. This is a big issue for me. She gave me samples and a booklet and of course if I had any questions to contact her again. She was amazing. If you're in the Tampa Bay Area and are in need of help please don't hesitate and go see her.

Thankfully I discovered Marisol, who is a Diva Curl Certified Advanced Stylist and Product Expert. I had a wonderful time while Marisol cut and styled my hair. She patiently taught me the correct way to wash and style curly hair and she took the time to make sure I completely understood each step. I had been doing it all wrong! I am thrilled to now have "wash and go" hair, that I can easily "refresh" the next day. The shine is returning and I am so excited to see the curls emerging. I am delighted with how much more curly my hair is now. I even had a compliment my first time out in public!
