Bar
Andrea H.

The Uber driver recommended this place and he was spot on. Definitely more of a local spot. The bar, which is stand up only, no seats, was filled with regulars drinking iced cold Super Bock. There are some of the biggest crabs snd lobsters swimming in a tank. Everything was fresh. Ordered platters of mussels, clams and garlic shrimp. One dish was better than the other. Fresh hot buttered bread came to the table first and it was perfect for dipping in the sauces. Service was good and attentive. They don't take reservations, but if you get there between 7:30-8 you should be fine. We left at 8:30 and the line was down the street to get inside.

Barnacles... surprisingly good! This amount is 100 gms.

Definitely one of the top meals I've had... the food was amazing and our waiter was fabulous! Don't miss this experience.

Very fresh seafood in a casual, local environment. The waiter was so patient with us as we struggled to order and offered really good suggestions. The shrimp with garlic and bread were a standout.

Clams with butter sauce, garlic and cilantro. A wonderfully simple dish. Use the bread for the broth!

Excellent local place! We loved it, falling for the bread scheme and all. They bring out some gorgeous grilled buttery bread with a pot of what appears to be ricotta cheese, and then they tell you to dump it onto a plate, season it, and spread it on the bread. Of course you find out later that it wasn't free but WHO CARES? It was delicious, relax and enjoy! We had the Amejios a Balhao, clams in butter sauce, and it was simple and divine. BF had the bread soup which he liked very much and even though it looks like porridge, don't diss. It was stuffed with shrimps. We had sangria which was meh, I much prefer vinho verde, and our waiter spoke enough English that it was a very pleasant experience. Very much recommend!

A popular place for seafood! We came here for lunch. The one thing that caught my eye was the huge lobsters in the tanks. The restaurant is big inside and very popular for dinner. If you want to avoid the crowd come during lunch time and you practically have the whole place to yourself. They give you a bread basket to start off and I ordered the garlic shrimp. They have other fish in the cases they prepare for ordering so it tastes fresh. The shrimp was delicious and filling.

Shrimp and garlic, breads, clams and octopus salad. All amazing

So, you're in Lisbon, and you're a foodie. Chances are, you're going to try to go to Ramiro. Chances are, you're hungry, and changes are, there's a long wait. Just walk right down the street, and you won't be disappointed (unless you really really really need to go to Ramiro just for the Bourdain experience, which if you ask me, is missing his point). A local friend of mine brought me here for lunch and it was absolutely fantastic. Service, as is the case across Lisbon, was terrible - friendly but terrible. We had to keep flagging down the server for refills of beer and to order more items, but that's expected here, so no marks off for that. We ate shrimp and garlic, breads with wonderfully flavorful melted butter, clams and octopus salad. All amazing. Wash it all down with a beer, and you have yourself the perfect meal.

Make sure to stop by if you are a die hard seafood lover. We came for lunch however they were still closed but we were allowed to sit and stay. Seeing how hungry we were, we were able to order a couple of dishes like shrimps, lobster, beer and salad. Great service. Not everyone speaks English but we are able to get by.

Yelp scores once again - If I hadn't checked here we'd have been queuing at Ramiro's after looking at the reviews on the 'other' site, instead of being shown instantly to a table here and very quickly being served a gigantic lobster seafood platter. It's not going to win many points for atmosphere, but if you don't mind sitting in what appears to be a bar, complete with regulars watching football on the telly, then get yourself along here as the food is fantastic. The service was really quick and very friendly despite our lack of Portuguese, and the seafood platter was an eye-opener to both of us as it contained a few 'unknown' items. Chief amongst these were barnacles, looking like bunches of miniature 'Alien' eggs. Neither of us had encountered these before, and had no idea how to approach them, but the waiter quickly spotted our confusion and rushed over to demonstrate (a quick twist and gentle pull was the technique). Not the most filling item on the plate, but quite tasty nonetheless. The other unknown was a spiky spirally-shelled thing that had to be winkled out of the shell with a hooked implement. I've no idea what it was, but it took quite a bit of effort for little return, being pretty tasteless and a bit rubbery. Everything else was top notch apart from the mussels, which we both thought were rather poor compared to Scottish ones. They were OK, just a bit small and there was a weird stringy bit attached that had to be removed. Maybe it wasn't the best season for them. But excellent value for a good quantity of seafood. I like the way they provided a pile of napkins so that you could clean your fingers as you went, and the pile of plates for debris that our ever-attentive waiter removed as they became full.

We came over to this place after noticing the crazy long line at Ramiro. It's set up like a bar we're there was a crowd of people watching Futbol and then tables for you to dine in. Daniel, our server, was extremely nice and attentive. Explaining everything we asked him. My only issue with this place was there was a server that kept coughing over the food and drinks. Oh and the Seafood Salad was extremely bland!!! The Octopus Salad was really fresh and tasty, but they should add some spice or chili's in the salad. Spanish Mussels was very good and just the right serving! Shrimp Frittes sooooo good that we ordered a second serving!!! Sangria cups for 1,50 Euro!!! But the bottles of wine were fairly priced. Definitely stop here!!

Had a great Anniversary dinner here. Service was great very attentive and great recommendations. Really Fresh seafood as in has a face and all so if your use to seeing seafood in a styrofoam just tail or claw no heads then you might not like this place. They have seafood that you can order by dish but also by weight so be careful it can get pricey. The Sangria and beer reasonably priced. Don't be afraid to get your hands dirty it's much easier to eat seafood that way. The stone crab dip dish is yum!!! and everything with garlic butter you can't pass up. The sauces you just want to dip your bread and keep eating. So happy we found this restaurant.

Apparently the place to be is Ramiro's... however most people want dinner and they don't want to wait hours for seating. This place is exactly similar to the restaurant made famous by that guy who eats bugs on the travel channel located a few blocks down. The seafood here is so fresh you will literally think it came from the ocean to your plate. My family of 5 including me had a feast here that would rival any seafood meal back in the states for a fraction of the cost! What's good??? Everything! What you should try? The fresh shrimp, the shrimp in garlic, any of the grilled fish entrees and if you are feeling really adventurous try the barnacles... yes they look terrifying but it's a once in a lifetime opportunity to eat a sea monster... sooo ummm do it okay!? Look at the pictures and drool... come to Lisbon and definitely eat here! Oh and the service was slamming! We had thee sweetest waiter who accommodated all of our needs.

Skip Ramiro. Laugh as you walk by the line. Practice your Portuguese before you order because no one speaks English and heads will turn when you enter. Enjoy the €1.25 beers and get the octopus salad and prawns for dinner. Best seafood meal of my life!

Steve M.

Excellent seafood restaurant. We were a group of four and had a very short wait. We walked a block and a half past another place that looked like it had a huge wait. Guess that was due to being shown on a tv show. This place was recommended by locals and they couldn't be more right. We all ordered different meals and all enjoyed our food and the service. Would go back again and again if in the area.

They are sneaky here- don't fall for the bread, cheese and salad scheme. They deliver it without telling you it's not part of the meal.

We had reservations for a party of 2 on a Saturday at 6 PM. When you check in, they give you a slip of paper which has a QR code on it for you to access the menu later, and we were promptly seated upstairs. The menu is conveniently available in several languages (you select your language at the bottom of the main menu page). We were at a long table for 6, with us sitting on the inside and another couple sitting at the end, and the table settings in between us were cleared, so it didn't feel like we were on top of one another. I appreciated that the server gave recommendations that would be good for two people. We went with most of his recommendations (shrimps on garlic sauce (it's labeled as spicy, but it's really not), clams on garlic, tiger prawns grilled on bed of salt) and added some of our own (razor clams and lobster roll). All the seafood tasted fresh, bursting with flavor from the buttery garlic sauce, which we sopped up with garlic bread. The bread is brought to the table when you first get seated. It's not free, which I was aware of, but I knew it would go well with the dishes we ordered. The razor clams were juicy and sweet. The lobster roll was good, but not something I would order again when there's so many other fantastic seafood choices. I usually don't drink beer, but felt that it was appropriate since we were at a cervejaria, so I ordered a bottle of Sagres Bohemia. It went perfectly with the seafood. My SO, who doesn't drink alcohol, got peach iced tea. I wanted to get the prego sandwich for dessert, but my SO was pretty much full at that point, so I ordered a tarte whisky and a cappuccino for myself. The whisky ice cream layer in the tarte was nice and refreshing. I was shocked when we got the bill and it came out to less than 50€. This meal would have cost so much more in the US. You pay via tablet at the end and I left a generous tip in appreciation of the wonderful meal and service. They get you in and out of there quick, but it never felt like we were being rushed out. I highly recommend this spot if you are looking for some fresh, delicious seafood in Lisbon.

We shared Paella which was delicious, and my son ordered the Portuguese steak which he did not care for. We were unsure what to expect and it was a steak beneath ham, olives, eggs, and potatoes. A traditional style steak to the area. I also had a vegetable soup which was tasty and hearty. Over all the experience was good. I loved the appetizers, not pictured because they got eaten up so fast!

We were so glad we went, it was an outstanding meal. The restaurant is not large and mainly has seating for 2. Other reviews complained about waits, but it would be worth it. We ate early and were lucky to arrive when another couple was leaving. Service was quick and very friendly--and like many places here they spoke good English. They do not have a wide drink list, but we had a bottle of the house wine that was really good and complemented food perfectly. For appetizers, we had bread basket, miss cheese, and the caprese. Get the bread basket if you get either. I had not heard of that cheese but it was great, semi-soft with a nice flavor. The caprese salad was nice also, fresh tomato's and mint as opposed to basil. For the main course, I had the seafood paella that was served in a hot pan right from the stove. This was excellent with rich saffron flavor and a nice mix is seafood--the calamari and mussels were particularly good. I loved it. With the said, my wife's sea bass might have been better. The whole fish was served, nice and fresh. It was cooked and flavored absolutely perfectly. The skin was crisp while the fish was moist and just melted in your mouth. Completely wonderful. It came with potatoes and some steamed vegetables, a superb dish. Definitely worth a visit!
