Fantastic hidden gem in Queen Creek!!!!!! Saw it a few times driving past and we decided to stop and try it out for lunch. Super glad we did. It was AMAZING! Pricing is super reasonable for what you get. The staff is friendly and ready to answer any questions you may have about their food. We tried a few different pupusas and they were all fantastic. Do not skip over the fried plantains- they were perfectly cooked. Our pupusas came with large side of salsa and the cabbage topping- both had a fantastic and fresh flavor. We got a boatload of food for about $30 and couldn't even finish it all. We will definitely be returning to Maritza's! We have gone here several times as a family. It's ok a little trailer on the corner of Meridian and Ocotillo. So it's small, with not a lot of space for a big group. But they're so close to home we can easily grab the food and bring it home. The pupusas are not the best I've ever had, but they're good. And there's a long list of flavors to try. It's hard to find good and delicious authentic Hispanic food that is not Mexican. I am Nicaraguan/Colombian and a Miami native, so I am no stranger to eating Salvadorian food. My husband and I had been meaning to try this spot for a few weeks now, and today was the day. We both had 2 pupusas each-he had the mixed pupusas (chicharrón, beans, cheese) and I had one cheese and one refried beans w/ cheese. I must say, the pupusas were very tasty! My favorites have always been the cheese pupusas and this one did not disappoint! BUT, I was not impressed w/ their side of cabbage (which you place as a topping on your pupusa). The cabbage was dry and spicy! It had red pepper flakes, which I've never had, in any Salvadorian restaurant I've visited. Overall, if you're in the queen creek/San Tan valley area and are looking to try something new and different, please check them out! I don't think you'll be disappointed. read more

A few weeks ago my family drive up to Queen creek all the way from Happy valley rd and the 1-17 north of the 101 50 mile drive ... well worth the drive location in a very busy intersection they have seating inside and out side . The food was on point the service was excellent . One of the host there by the name of "Jackie " was super friendly and helpful and what my loved is having someone who actually is from her country and can relate to since we are in a Salvadoran establishment... meaning :: servers , owners , cooks from the actual country from the kind of food being served .. people like " Jackie" is why we are willing to travel the distance . I've never had a pupusa before - never even heard of it.... I'm not one to try new places or new foods bc if I spend $10-$20-$30 on food, I want to be sure I'm going to like it! I've driven by the store front many, many times and always wondered what a pupusa was... Our neighbor bought us lunch at Maritza's Pupusas and had a variety of items for us. I was excited to try them and was not disappointed- they were delicious! There were also some tamales there and, omg, they were, and the pupsas so good! Full of flavor and the tamales were nice and moist! We've gone back several times already and will definitely keep going back! I tried to be kind and understanding bc the staff member taking my order was pregnant but she had such an attitude with me rolling her eyes when I couldn't hear what she said to me (I continued to be kind and smile anyway) my family and I drove 1 hour to support the business , I myself am Salvadoran but the treatment I received really was disappointing especially since we were so excited . We eat lunch here whenever we can. I miss our local pupuseria back home and was delighted to find Maritza's! I always get a combo plate of different pupusas, my husband usually gets their Cachetada platter all the time, we have tried the fried plantains and their other dishes as well. All authentic and all good. The place is always clean, as is the bathroom, and everyone is really nice behind the counter. We just moved here from the San Francisco Bay Area. My husband is Salvadoran and I am Nicaraguan. It's safe to assume that we have pretty high expectations when it comes to pupusas as my mother-in-law would usually make them fresh for us. We were eager to find good pupusas in the valley, but we were quickly disappointed by our limited options. We found Maritza's on Yelp and it had excellent reviews so we decided to give it a try. The only thing negative I have to say about this place is the location. It is far out in San Tan Valley. However, it is 1000% worth the drive! I would literally be willing to drive across the state to eat here, because it's still closer than going back to California for good pupusas. We had the mixed pupusas (revueltas), which comes with pork, beans & cheese. We also had an order of pastelitos. Everything from the masa, to the curtido was fresh and delicious! Cooked to perfection and my pregnancy craving is more than satisfied. The staff is very friendly and the restaurant was spotless clean during our visit. We were given extra curtido, which we appreciated. We also did not have to wait very long for our food, which is rare for a pupusa restaurant in our experience. We will definitely be back soon and I'm sure we will now be regular customers. After years of making pupusas as a side hustle, Maritza finally made a restaurant that sells pupusas as well as tamales Salvadorian style (in banana leaves). Food is flavorful, reasonably priced, and made fresh!! I went in on a Friday evening. There were 5 ahead of me and people constantly coming in after me. The wait time did take a while..around 40 mins, but you can tell everyone in there was working hard. Food is made to order and the couple people before me had large orders. Person taking the order was very sweet and patient while answering all the questions customers had. Inside was small so some people waited in the car. She went out to the cars when an order was ready if the person had not come in yet and she called through the window as soon as mine was done. That was much appreciated. This food is affordable, flavorful, and definitely a unique new flavor option for the area! For anyone not in the know, a Pupusa is a pocket of fluffy masa dough, stuffed with meat/veggies/cheese, and then grilled to perfection. Served with a tangy curtido cabbage slaw, and salsa roja, these are going to be a sure-fire hit with everyone in the family. Been meaning to try this place for awhile and stopped in while nearby. Ordered the two pupusas (carnita steak) plate that comes with pickled cabbage and a hot sauce. Got a side of refried beans too (black beans). They were fresh and tasty. Go with the refried beans and dip your pupusa bites in it! Lots of cheese but the steak was very disappointing being diced about half the size of a pea and there was very little of it despite the $.50 extra charge. I would recommend a different protein. Also, one pupusa isn't enough and two is too much. I'll definitely be back, just won't do the steak again. read more

I've been eyeing this place up for a while now. My gf and her family loves it and has been telling me about it. Well, we finally set a lunch date up and met while kids were in school. I've never had Salvadoran food before but was interested after seeing the great reviews and the cars that filled the parking lot every time I passed. I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed everything. I ordered 2 Pupusas and it came with a slaw and dipping sauce. It was amazing! So many to choose from but I went with the pork with cheese and a garlic with cheese. So much flavor packed into these soft bread like fried pastry. I could actually only eat one and it definitely filled me up. Don't be fooled by the size!! My gf ordered one Pupusas and then the plantains with beans and crema. I took a bit and those were a great addition to meal. I'd definitely order that next time. Because the weather has cooled down we were able to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air. Lots of seating available outside but they also offer seating inside. This place is one that you order and pay and then they brought our food to us. The girl that was working was very friendly.
