This place is truly amazing and this is the only location I will go to out of all of them. I have been coming to this location for 6 years and one year went to them almost everyday. The staff has always been extremely nice and patient. The ladies and gentleman that I have had were always very nice and sweet. This is definitely one of the best locations I have gone to food, staff, and decor wise. I normally get their burrito owl with chicken and everything on it except jalapeño. The jalapeño cream cheese is something to die for, if I could I would put it on everything. The horchata they have is delicious and the strawberry one. One thing I miss is their tres leches cakes, I think about those cakes everyday and how well done they were. I have tried numerous other ones but, have yet to find one that competes. I've always heard great things about this place so while in the neighborhood, hungry at that, I chose to stop here. After perusing the menu board, I chose Super Nachos made with carne asada. Let me tell you that they give you your money's worth of fresh ingredients. Everything tasted so delicious! The service here is met with a smile from the moment you enter until the moment you exit. Very nice employees! The ambiance is calming yet inviting & features masked wrestlers, the luchadors & maskadores. Cool decor & lots of blue ambient lighting. Finally got to try the famous Maskadores, but it was actually a bit disappointing. For a 14 bucks bowl, portion was so small that I felt hungry after eating it. Comparing it to Chipotle bowl, I think it's a little less than 2/3 of their portion. Food was ok, but the portion was way too small for the price. read more

Order a burrito bowl and maybe I came during a busier time. Or this was a one off but not super impressed. Also the place is not super cheap and they limit the amount of salsas you get from the salsa bar or they charge you. Good: some ingredients and salsas may have been good for the most part Bad: inedible, just a wet mess of salsas and sauces (despite asking for them on the side in the to go order) no lettuce or cilantro added to the bowl. I've been coming to this restaurant since it was called Sombreros in Tempe. After a couple of name changes, and new locations, this is still my favorite for street tacos. The tacos are small but they fill you up. They never fail to make us smile when we go. Four stars is just the size of this location. Last night my husband and I visited for dinner and I left my Louis Vuitton purse hanging on the chair, I didn't realize until this morning and panicked. This place is delicious! The very definition of a hole in the wall, but with friendly service, and super flavorful food. I was limited as to what I could eat because of a strict diet, but I sure enjoyed what they made for me! I had a bowl with beans, salsa, avocado, corn, a little bit of cheese, and then a surprise last-minute ingredient. As I was ordering, she even offered to throw in some griddled potatoes to make my dish a little more hardy and satisfying. Great addition! The carne asada is my favorite of their meats. We got the Carne Asada salad, chicken burrito, the Carne Asada wet burrito and Horchata. As a heads up, the wet burrito is really spicy. The taco salad comes in a deep fried tortilla bowl which was pretty oily so I passed on eating it. The customer service was mid (no greeting when I walked in with only 1 other customer inside) and the 2 ladies were working on pickup orders for about 5 minutes before I was acknowledged at all. I was a little surprised that the dishes weren't as flavorful as I expected based on the strong star ratings. read more

WONT BE BACK!! we were looking for something quick as we were going to Floor &Decor. This place was in the same shopping center and had good reviews. But unfortunately for me what I ordered gave me a mild case of food poisoning! We were in floor &Decor when I started sweating and got light headed and ran to the bathroom! Really good food! We got the 5 street tacos and the macho fries. It was on the spicier side but good portions (we ordered takeout). The carne Asada was the best, we ordered chicken but next time I would do carne Asada only. Overall a good takeout experience, the guacamole was good and everything tasted fresh. Maskadores always hits the spot. This is the only local spot that's open on Sundays (all the other East Valley Locations are closed on Sundays.) The food is pretty consistent at this location (except today my wife's Taco Salad & my Super Nachos were super soggy due to the Carne Asada being too watery) We've got take out from this location probably close to 40 times & it's always good & worth the drive. Salsa bar is usually stoked (only get salsas if you like spicy, my wife is a wuss & can't even eat their mild salsa due to being too spicy but she likes the salsas at the new Country Club location. I love the radioactive looking green salsa.) read more

We came in for lunch before heading to the grocery store and I'm so glad we did. Since we moved to Mesa 7 months ago from Gilbert we've finally found our new fast food place for street tacos. The place is small inside but they have a good menu with more than just tacos. We got the 4 Asada tacos with rice and pinto beans and now I'm in love. These lots of different options for your choices of meats and beans if you're a beer lover you can also enjoy your favorite beer with the amazing food that they serve here. I think their menu could use work and do a better job of showing all the options as well as what comes with everything. For example, the longer we talked with the employee, the more meat options there seemed to be, including ones that weren't on the menu. Adding a clearer menu would be great, especially if there are miscommunications. I asked if every entree came with rice and beans and was told yes, so I ordered mini chimis. As she packaged them, I noticed she didn't add rice and beans (I think they didn't come with the quesadilla either). She then said that not everything came with rice and beans like she said. That was frustrating as I had chosen what to order based on the knowledge that everything came with rice and beans. Adding a side of rice and beans was $5! I got a heaping scoop of each put in the same bowl. In the end the rice tasted like soap and the black beans were flavorless, so I didn't even eat my $5 side of rice and beans. Also, speaking of what comes with meals, the picture shows the chimis coming with pico, but when I asked, she hadn't put any in the box. She packaged some up to go but it was odd to me that she didn't originally include it. I think she said that it came with cream cheese instead of sour cream? Which is odd. Also odd that the tacos for example got to choose any toppings they wanted from the toppings bar, but not the chimis. If the chimis were on the appetizers section of a menu, for example, these differences would make more sense, which is why I think they need a clearer menu. The food reviews were a mixed bag. 3 out of 6 had no complaints about their entrees, although it would've been hard to mess up a quesadilla. Burrito was big. Some of the meats we got were incredibly salty. Some of the lettuce was brown. The chimichanga meat was dry, tough, and chewy, probably from the fryer. They have a salsa bar but no chips. They have a large salsa selection and all of the salsa lean on the spicy side. I was surprised that so many things were made to order, including the taco shell for the taco salad. That was cool (although it may have been nice to give a few seconds for all the oil to drain before adding the salad). So the way that the meats, beans, rice, and toppings are laid out it's like a chipotle, but they will add the meat to the grill to warm it/fry stuff fresh like I said. And not everything available is on the menu, which is why I think a clearer menu and more signage would be helpful. I asked for no heat. I asked what spills be better chicken enchiladas or chicken quesadilla. She said the red sauce wasn't hot and recommended the enchiladas. I take it home it smells so good. I take my diabetes medicine and take a bite. Instantly my mouth, throat and stomach is on fire. I called the number on the receipt and on the website When they answered they hung right up. I wasted $13 on food I couldn't even eat! I had to eat some thing because I had taken my diabetes medicine. So I went digging with my fork to find out why it was so hot. She hid chilies or peppers of some kind in it. So it was intentional and that is messed up! read more

Thanks Yelpers, for pointing me to this little place in a strip mall. The food is very tasty and authentic, and the people working there were very nice and helpful. We ate at the restaurant and seating was plentiful (small tables, though) during our late afternoon visit. We had the Wet Burrito and a Burrito Bowl, with ingredients assembled to order. The Wet Burrito came with the "Tinga" chipotle chicken, which was mucho fiery! I love spicy food but some might prefer a meat choice that is a little less hot. The Red Carnitas pork in the bowl was fresh and delicious. I will definitely be back when I am in the area. The tacos being ordered by another customer looked really good. read more

Hadn't eaten there in forever (for some reason) but food was good, had nachos and tacos and salsa was delicious.

The food here is very good, but would advise that the heat index on their enchilada sauces and offering of salsas is a bit misleading, in that the mild is still a bit spicy. The burrito is massive, I would highly recommend it Wet. Get it as a 'Bandera' if you can't decide between whether Red or Green. There's seating inside, but there's more 2-tops than 4-tops, not for a place for large groups. read more
