Mark is without a doubt, GREAT at what he does. I was recently diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis which is pain, swelling, or stiffness in one or more joints. Pain in and around the feet and ankles, especially tendinitis in the Achilles tendon or Plantar fasciitis in the sole of the foot. Pain in the area of the sacrum (the lower back, above the tailbone). Along with the above noted pain and inflammation, there is extreme exhaustion that does not go away with adequate rest. The exhaustion may last for days or weeks without abatement. Psoriatic arthritis may remain mild, or may progress to more destructive joint disease. Periods of active disease, or flares, will typically alternate with periods of remission. Mark sits down and goes over your medical history and what your goals are. He even notifies your primary physician to get the okay for you to workout. Mark takes his job serious which I love and admire. He's a NO HOLDS BAR kind of trainer. He will not push you to where you cannot go. He genuinely works with you and how much YOU can do. He also goes over nutrition with you. The most important thing is he has you stretch before, during and after your workout. He allows your body to rest for one day. (This is important for your muscles..) His personality is unique. He is such a gentleman and a funny guy at times...as well as a sweet overall guy. Don't take him for granted. He loves what he does. I decided to start working with a trainer because I needed help in developing workouts that would not exacerbate several injuries. I chose Mark because he seemed to have experience with similar people and because I was impressed by the thoroughness of our initial phone conversation. I wish this business would move to NJ, or I lived/worked in NYC again. I miss my 1st love in personal trainers. I had several before Mark and many after, but none compare to Marc Darco and the results I received from his training. The ruptured disc in my lower back has healed without any surgery, thanks to Marks recommendation of a great Sports Doctor and his constant contact with the Dr. about my exercise program and progress. How many trainers take that much interest in their clients? Not many! If not for this man I would not still be training at age 63, and I would not be able to enjoy my favorite sport scuba diving! . People often don't realize the impression they are making on you, when they show you a kindness. Well Mark didn't have to talk to me more than two seconds, as I was looking for a gym to work out at while on vacation, but he spent a good five to ten minutes chatting with me about the city and gave some good critique on the neighboring gyms. Mark is an amazing personal trainer. Our workouts are always fun and enjoyable and almost seem too easy...until the next day when I realize just how hard it was! He is excellent at working around injuries. He's also trained me throughout my pregnancy with my daughter and then after to get back into pre-baby shape. I travel a lot for work and have been living abroad during part of my time with Mark and he is great over skype as well. He has managed to find equipment for me that I can pop in my suitcase. He's great at getting a full workout into a small living room space or a tight hotel room. I can't recommend him highly enough. He is also just a really likable, fun guy. read more

Mark's a good guy and he's great at what he does with years of experience. I've been using him twice a week for about 5 months now and I'm definitely seeing results. I feel better, look better, and am much, much stronger. Mark turns the just ok gym in my building into a whole different experience. He definitely customizes our work-outs based on my overall fitness goals and monitors my progress to determine when I'm to graduate to either more reps, longer cardio intervals, or a heavier set up weights. Mark will make each visit just routine enough so you're acclimated, but will vary it so you don't get bored and so your body is still challenged. If you don't like a particular exercise, you can just let him know. He'll vary it whenever possible so another version of it still works the same muscle group. Mark goes out of his way to make sure you avoid the potential of personal injury and if your form is off, he'll gently call you out on it and show you how to fix it so you get the best possible workout. I had an unrelated back injury a few months into our training and had to take a few weeks off. Mark did a really good job easing me back into our routine and avoided certain exercises until I was completely healed. He knows what he's doing. Also, in 5 months, he's never once been late. My husband and I have been working with Mark for about ten months. He is knowledgeable and cares about what he does. We are older adults and have not been as compliant as we should be in working on our own in between sessions. Mark is great as a trainer and customizing the workout to your goals. Over time your stamina and strength will definitely increase.
