I needed a mailbox installed and had tried for 3 months to schedule various handyman recommended by neighbors. I finally took things into my own hands and searched for a reputable and highly rated handyman on Yelp. There were several options to choose from, but I was immediately drawn to Brian's business because it is locally owned and operated by him. Plus, I really liked his bio. I could tell he was someone who enjoyed his work and was focused on high quality outcomes for customer projects. Brian did not disappoint. Every step of the process was a good one. My first point of contact was through Yelp messaging. That's when I first knew I was on the right track because Brian promptly replied. Moreover, his communication skills were excellent from the get-go. He was able to fit me into his schedule a few days after my request. He arrived on time prepared with what he needed to do the job. Everything went smoothly, especially because Brian and I had reviewed the installation instructions through photos I attached to our Yelp messages. He was able to acquire the remaining needed materials that I did not have on hand. Brian clearly knew what he was doing and got the mailbox installed without any problems. He charged a reasonable amount and was a pleasure to work with. I had a great customer experience. I already have other projects lined up for him. Living in a 200-year-old home is going to provide plenty of opportunities to call on Brian's experience and excellent problem-solving skills.

As part of this work I had paid to have a plate installed on both the door and the door frame to have it jimmy-proof but the one on the door wasn't installed. Also the door was dented during installation and I asked them to "plastic wood" the dent. After their second on third visit back I paid Hedge Handyman all of their fee. I don't live locally and when I later personally came to inspect, however, I found that the sweep they had installed stopped the door from opening more than 2/3rds. When I removed that sweep so the door could fully open, I found that they had apparently painted the door after they installed the sweep because the door was not painted underneath. Once I removed the sweep, the door which had been installed perhaps 3 months before sagged to that it hit the floor. For better or worse, they had not bothered to mortise in the hinges on the door making it simple to add a third hinge. Their response was the door was sagging because the doorframe was old and I shouldn't expect better - however I had actually paid them to rebuild the doorframe at the cost they specified, and they had done that. They said the floor was uneven; perhaps, but in my opinion that doesn't mean that you install a sweep that stops the door from opening more than half-way- instead you install a threshold at the opening so that it seals when closed. Despite numerous requests, over months, there was no action. During that time the sagging door has damaged the tiles on the floor. I installed the jimmy-proof guard on the door myself(it took -minutes). Although they are perhaps 10 minutes from the service location, they refused to come back and drop off the paint, or just supply the formula for the paint so I could remake myself what was needed for the door, or install a third hinge to stop the door from causing further damage to the tiles. In short, Hedge Handyman appears to have the abilities, but don't pay them until you are sure the job is done to your satisfaction
