I'm currently moving to Batavia, IL and need to switch over my auto policies, along with purchasing a Home Owners policy. I was quite sad to leave my current agent in Utah because of how wonderful they had treated me for several years. So in my hunt to find another great agent, I had my previous agent call several agents in the surrounding area to get a feel for what type of service was out here. After talking to several agents, we found that Mark Murphy and his assistant Sydney were the most helpful and willing to assist us in our situation. Then after making my decision to go with Mark Murphy I was pleasantly surprised by how willing he was to walk me through the details and process of switching over and purchasing a new Home Owners policy. I was quite impressed by how fast he took care of my needs and his willingness to reach out to those I'd previously worked with to get additional technical information to best assist me. Then he even was willing to stay well after hours to make sure I felt comfortable with the policy before agreeing. If you're looking for a new agent, I would at least recommend that you call the office and speak with Sydney or Mark Murphy and get a feel for their genuine interest for their customers and their expertise in industry. I wish negative stars existed to describe this agent and a member of his staff, Andy. Please, if you are currently in a rush and cannot read any further, just read this sentence: DO NOT ENTRUST THESE PEOPLE WITH YOUR INSURANCE POLICIES. Every StateFarm commercial I have seen negates everything about the way that these two employees run this office. Let me explain... If you have ever seen the Incredibles...Remember the ridiculously cold-hearted boss that Mr. Incredible has to deal with? A man more interested in taking money than relating to humans and being personable? That would be my extremely accurate description of these two men. "Money hungry", "must be someone else's error", "no responsibility" men. We walked into the office on Wilson this morning to discuss an issue with our insurance. We have recently switched to Mark Murphy, due to our old agent (a fantastic, personable, relatable man) retiring, and Mark's office is in our neighborhood. The agent was busy with another man, so we were helped by Andy. After explaining our issues and dilemma, Andy claimed that he would speak with Mark after he was finished with his client, and get back to us. (Please note, we explained that this was a bit time sensitive and would like an answer as soon as possible.) Fast forward TWO AND A HALF HOURS LATER, and Andy calls us back....explaining that he looked into the issue and that there was nothing he could do to help us with our issue. When asking to speak to the agent, Andy claimed that he was currently on his lunch...unable to speak with us. Great. Fast forward AN HOUR AND A HALF LATER, and we hear from Andy AGAIN. Nothing could be done, and somehow our agent was unreachable again...really?! Extremely long story short, we are switching to a different agent, and possibly a different insurance carrier altogether. The rude, unhelpful, and "not a good neighbor" feel of this place has us frustrated and looking elsewhere to go. read more

We've had great service from Mark and his team. We did have to file a significant claim earlier this year. I found myself a little frustrated that I had to talk to an 800 number instead of my local office. However, after the initial shock of that, we found the claims people to be unbelievably helpful! In fact, State Farm did everything they promised they would and then some in a very timely manner. And, months later, when it was discovered that a couple of service providers had filed their claims with the wrong insurance company, our claims handler jumped right in and took over...fixing everything. Mark's team was on the sidelines, but they were keeping tabs on the process the whole way through. With our daughter away at school, she needed some additional insurance in another state. Mark's team helped us navigate that as well, since he couldn't actually write that policy. They answered all of our questions, even though he wasn't writing the policy directly. We have been very satisfied with the service we have received from State Farm and Mark Murphy specifically. read more

This office is entirely useless. I have had auto insurance with State Farm for a few years and have not been the least bit impressed with their customer service. However, last year we bought a house in Batavia and combined our homeowners and auto insurance policies. First of all, State Farm is over priced and a lot more expensive than other insurance companies. I liked the idea of having a local agent to help with claims but this office has not been the least bit helpful. All they do is connect you to the 800 claim number. I'm not sure what the purpose of the office is at all or what they actually do there. The employees are friendly enough but do not have any ability to help with claims. I have never had any encounter with Mark Murphy himself. Needless to say, I am done with State Farm. Also, NEVER use Great Lakes Glass Co. read more

We have been a client of Mark Murphy's State Farm Agency for the past 6 years. Prior to becoming a client of Mark Murphy, we had several different State Farm agents as we have moved across the country. Mark is by far the best agent we have had. When we first bought our house, Mark reviewed our current homeowners insurance policy and found several items missing that our previous agent failed to include. Mark and his office have been extremely helpful as we have had to navigate the process of filing a claim for a car accident as well as a claim when we sustained hail damage on our house. I have recommended several friends and co-workers to Mark's agency. Overall, it has been a great experience dealing with Mark and his office. read more

I was really surprised by these negative reviews. I have done business with Mark for 7+ years and haven't had any complaints. I was rear ended a year ago and my car was totaled. I was impressed with how this office and State Farm handled everything. They were very professional, completed tasks on-time, and helpful to answer any questions I had. Most importantly they got me the money to buy a new car within a few days. read more
