I don't know how best to articulate how amazing Mark is without giving you a little bit of back story. My husband and I needed to relocate to the Folsom area from the Bay Area on a very, very short timeline. This might not seem like a massive undertaking unless you first know that my husband is a very particular engineer, I'm an overly emotional type A nurse practitioner, and neither of us like tract homes. I would imagine that we are basically a relator's worst nightmare from a personality perspective, which is why finding Mark was key for us. His background in appraisal has given him a serious knowledge base about material and structural issues, which proved immensely helpful as we went about looking for a solid house. He also happens to be a totally hilarious, friendly, all around good guy- great qualities for anyone to have, but essential for a realtor. We actually had a lot of fun spending 10 hours at a time with Mark driving around in search of the perfect place to call home- what could have been tedious was actually a really good time. This is because Mark is the kind of guy who you'd always invite to a dinner party or a barbecue because you know your other guests would love how personable he is. He has a completely non sales-like approach to what he does; he actually encouraged us to stay within our budget. It's obvious that he cares about real estate, but what is more obvious that he cares about his clients thriving in the new home in the long term. To make a long story short (is it too late for that?) this is my first night in my dream home. We saw upwards of 30 properties with Mark and he held our hands through buying a real beauty which suits us perfectly. I found Mark through Yelp because I wanted to purchase a home outside of the Bay area and he had 5 stars all around. I can only say that Yelp did it again with connecting me to a great agent. I called him and he was very sincere and professional and I sent him a couple homes I was interested in. I ended up having to cancel the first time because I fell ill, but my family and I made it a few days after. The home I wanted to see had a pool, but the home itself did not look as nice as it did in the photos. I tried so hard to like the house since the pool was great, but Mark said something like "Don't force yourself to like the home, take your time, you need to feel that "wow" as soon as you step into the home." I knew right then that Mark actually cared and wasn't pushy, so I ended up thinking that my day was done. But while we were eating around the area, I was browsing and found another home, so I called Mark and he made the showing happen within an hour! As soon as I walked into THIS home, I felt the 'WOW'. Although there was no pool, it still had a huge space and a nice yard. I went home, made an offer and from there we went forward. I have to admit the sellers agent wasn't very pleasant with this transaction since she was so darn slow with her responses re: a few things but that's fine because Mark handled it with professionalism and along with my amazing loan guy, Kenneth Woo of Golden Bay Financial, the closing went smooth and timely. I ended up getting a great deal for the home except that the sellers did take the washer/dryer and I was pissed so future home buyers MAKE SURE you want ALL APPLIANCES left in the house!!! I never understood WHY these sellers want to haul all this heavy crap aka "personal items" out of the home like fridges, washer/dryers etc., however Mark was so kind and saw how upset I was and gave me a gift card to help me out.
